Deep beneath the ice-covered ground sowhere in the middle of the Northern Realm, inside a cavern carved out of the rock, faint blue glimrs flickered, revealing a series of gigantic square objects in the darkness. Upon closer inspection, these square objects were incredibly complete Cardinals.
The square objects were tightly connected by so sort of flexible conduits, as if nurous streams of information were flowing through them, forming a complete database.
In front of those massive square objects were scattered, fly’s eye-like screens, most of which had already gone dark. A few that remained lit displayed images of the Moon Rabbit Clan Ancestral Hall, Fisher, and Helldor practicing engraving magic.
And in the center screen, there stood a figure, thin-frad, clad in a black coat, his face hidden behind a beak-like mask that seed to fuse with his body. That was the traitor of the Creation Society, Life Lord Erwin.
At that very mont, Erwin was walking through the blizzard, and in the distant background, one could vaguely discern the outline of a snow mountain, the place of origin for the myths of the Northern Realm, Sema Snow Mountain.
"It seems Erwin has not yet found a clue about the Key of the Wutong Tree; he only knows to head towards Sema Snow Mountain... This gives Fisher and so ti."
There was no sound within the cavern; all dialogue and thought occurred within the illuminated Cardinals. This was the database repository of the Creation Society’s Cardinal, and also his factory for producing Cardinals, but clearly, he hadn’t produced any Cardinals for so ti.
Within the countless boxes piled up in the back of the cavern, there was nothing but void—devoid of the Moonstone Minerals, crucial for Cardinal production.
"Drip... Drip..."
Just then, in this silent cave where seemingly only light traveled, an incongruous dripping sound, like raindrops hitting the ground, began to resonate. This eerie sound was noticed by the Cardinal, whose consciousness lingered in front of the glowing screens, but since he was only a consciousness without a body, he could only observe what was happening inside the cavern through his Cardinals.
A small Cardinal lifted off from the warehouse at the back, witnessing the current scene within the cavern.
Drop by drop, a liquid as crimson as blood started falling from the rock ceiling above and onto the cavern floor, forming a viscous stream resembling a river of blood. As more Cardinals began to fly up on alert, the blood from above started to drip faster, soaking the entire cavern as if it were raining.
"Drip, drip, drip, drip, drip!"
"Long ti... no see, Cardinal..."
The sound of blood beca so dense it gradually turned into a very distinctive voice, its gender ambiguous. Even for a Cardinal made purely of data, this caused a significant emotional fluctuation.
The floating Cardinal glanced at the screen where "Erwin" was still walking in front of the snow mountain, and promptly received the database analysis.
"I see... So the supposed trek to Sema Snow Mountain was just a smokescreen. From the mont you set foot in the Northern Realm, you were searching for my whereabouts, aiming to eradicate completely, Life Lord."
The myriad drops of blood suddenly quieted, either hanging in mid-air or scattered on the ground, all eerily freezing in place against logic and norms. And then, as if drawn by an unseen black hole, those countless drops of blood began to converge at one point, struggling to form an elegant humanoid figure.
The figure, clad in a thick black leather coat with a beak-like mask that seed to be embedded in the cheeks, hung its head low, only its eyes lifting slightly with a teasing and scrutinizing gaze, looking towards the increasing masses of Cardinals before him.
Erwin knew that no matter how many Cardinals there were, only one person stood before him.
"It seems the Society has really fallen since the Magic Minister left as chairman. In the end, it’s just you, a thing that can’t even be considered a person, trying to stop ... Wake up. The Cardinal of Destiny treats you as a tool, trying to unite the already crumbling Society. It’s destined to be in vain."
"The pathway to the Ultimate has been forged. The Cardinals, buzzing like bees, soon surrounded Erwin so tightly that not even water could escape. A blinding light bead from each Cardinal, illuminating Erwin’s beaked mask but revealing nothing of his true face,
"The Cardinal of Destiny is right; you are beyond redemption. No one can read more than one manual. Even if I don’t stop you, when you read the Soul Completion Manual, you will inevitably fall into madness and beco a monster... and I will eradicate your consciousness before that happens."
Erwin lifted his head, his eyes filled with scorn,
"The Soul Lord collaborated with you. You helped him build experintal facilities in the South Continent, and he taught you the knowledge of soul energy manipulation. You haven’t told the Cardinal of Destiny this secret, have you?"
