Before Ilois could burst into tears due to her grievances, Fisher had already sealed away that particularly foul-mouthed drake voice of Emhardt into his own pocket, not willing to let the latter’s sulking affect others.
He would deal with Emhardt’s temper later, although he felt that the man would get over it by himself after a while.
Having learned that Ilois was to ask Miss Valentina for leave shortly, they both went downstairs to the dining room. This ti they were not the last to arrive, but rather the first. However, they didn’t wait long as Heidlin pushed a neatly dressed Valentina slowly into the dining room, who glanced at Fisher incidentally.
"Good morning, Miss Valentina."
"Good morning, Sister Ilois."
After Valentina took her seat at the head of the table and instructed Heidlin to prepare breakfast, Ilois told her about her wish to say farewell, prompting Valentina to start fidgeting with the ring in her hand, apparently deep in thought.
Fisher noticed that every ti her emotions fluctuated or she was deep in thought, she would incessantly rub the ring of the Turand Family made of so unknown material on her finger. The ring would produce unique movents depending on the situation, the specifics of which Fisher still didn’t understand.
"... I understand. Please allow , on behalf of the Turand Family, to express our heartfelt gratitude. Your help has been crucial, and as a token of our imnse appreciation, the Turand Family will consider you a forever friend."
After thinking for a few seconds, Valentina tapped the table to signal the maid standing nearby, who promptly went outside the room and brought back a small box containing a silver ring, placing it in front of Ilois.
Before Ilois could instinctively refuse, Valentina spoke first,
"This ring doesn’t hold much monetary value. It only serves as a token of our friendship. Surely the Mother Goddess wouldn’t punish such sincere feelings, right? Of course, as a token, if you ever need assistance, just show this ring at any bank in the Northern Realm, and you will receive the necessary help."
"A-ah... okay."
Fisher observed Valentina, seated at the head of the table, speaking lightly about the "any bank," but if one pondered, one would realize just how deeply rooted the Turand Family’s influence really was in the Northern Realm.
"As for your return journey, the SS Unicorn is about to leave Nebalon Kingdom, heading north into Mia, directly opposite to your route ho... So, I will arrange for the family to escort you all the way. You will take the train back to McDowell Feudal State within the Sardinia Female Country, until you’re safely back at the Healing Corruption Church. How does that sound?"
"A-ah, yes..."
Ilois, slightly clueless, barely considered before nodding in agreent, thinking the plan quite appropriate, imdiately accepting the arrangents made by Valentina.
Her adorable manner made Valentina laugh, her lips slightly curling as she shook her head,
"That’s great. After breakfast, I’ll have Heidlin make the arrangents... The Turand Family thanks you again for your help."
"No, thank you for giving the chance to visit the place where I grew up. I should be thanking you."
Fisher remained silent throughout, though footsteps gradually echoed outside the dining room, signaling the arrival of so other employees and indicating that the journey would soon comnce. He silently placed a magically glowing ring in front of Ilois.
"A-ah-ah! Mr. Fisher, this is... this is so sudden? But, I... I’m a nun, this kind of thing is absolutely not allowed... oh~"
To his surprise, Ilois stood up, flustered and blushing, waving her hands and shaking her head, uttering words Fisher couldn’t understand.
"What’s the matter, a-ah, the ring, you got proposed to?"
Behind her, the thoughtless Philis and the stoic Balzac entered the room, the pair really epitomizing "brainlessness and displeasure." They just entered, causing Fisher to cover his head with a headache, at a loss for words.
"This thing... is a ring engraved with magic, cast last night using High Ring Magic. If any danger arises during the journey, use this ring. It is not a wedding ring, got it?"
"Right, right, as if this brat would hand out a wedding ring; no woman worthy of that has been born yet."
Emhardt popped his head out from Fisher’s embrace, rcilessly mocking and stirring more chaos in the dining room.
"A-ah-ah?! Sorry... Mr. Fisher, I... I didn’t realize... oh, Sister Shalu was right, I really shouldn’t study magic..."
"Hey, this ring, it... is it valuable?"
Inside the dining room, Balzac settled into his seat amidst the chaos; Ilois, with rosy cheeks, seed eager to clarify sothing; Philis eyed the ring on the table greedily, making one wonder if she would steal it if left unattended.
Outside the dining room, chanic Celti, with dark circles under his eyes, yawned but was instantly woken by the commotion. He quickly yelled at Philis to get out of the way; Heidlin squeezed in like a parent, gently urging everyone to settle down as breakfast was about to be served.
"Quickly! Go back to your seats!"
Valentina observed all this, and her gaze eventually drifted away from the handso Nali, the scene in front of her harmonious and joyful. She couldn’t help but smile... Oh, if Helldor were here, how nice it would be to share this feeling.
But with the wheelchair behind her empty, she could only shake her head and lightly tap her fingers against the table to quiet down the room.
Without any admonishnt or extra words, Valentina simply said,
"Let’s eat, everyone."
