A strong gust of wind brushed past his face. With the help of the Vampire Count’s Wings, Chu Xiu glided across the sky, overlooking the undulating mountain ranges below.
The location of the deep pit was the largest mountain mass in this area, towering at six thousand ters. With the surrounding peaks standing guard like soldiers, it resembled a grand pyramid complex from above.
In the Corpse Demon World, sealed by the Abyss for countless years, the interior of this vast mountain range had been excavated by corrupted residents, forming nurous passages like a massive, intricate ant nest.

At that mont, several armored vehicles carrying a large amount of fire cannon equipnt were entering.
To maximize the power of firearms, the Awakened coalition had developed three pathways, each leading directly to the vicinity of the deep pit, with even the narrowest section able to accommodate two armored vehicles side by side.
Every few kiloters, the passage would use natural mountain caves to create spacious "defensive strongholds."
Ten or so awakened with Fierce Tier support professions, along with other Low Tier support professions, constructed a multitude of defensive structures within a few days, such as trenches and automated machine gun turrets, to diminish the enemy’s firepower and maximize their own.
The core of the defensive stronghold was several rapid-fire artillery pieces firing 155mm howitzer shells from the central position, whose formidable firepower could completely seal off any enemy’s approach.
In this terrain, although widened as much as possible, it was still "narrow" compared to open battlefields; the shock waves from howitzer explosions alone were enough to shatter an ordinary person’s internal organs.
The plan was to rely on these defensive strongholds and combat corrupted creatures, using hot weapons to deal with enemy masses, while High Tier Awakened would target and eliminate opposing elite forces.
If the enemy chose a conservative approach, they would advance step by step toward the deep pit.
For ordinary Awakened individuals, this was indeed the best plan. If one advanced alone and got entangled by the enemy’s high-tier forces, they would be worn down by the relentless monstrous tide.
The blood of these creatures could corrode tal, devouring even a King Tier Awakened’s resources over ti.
Qin Xiang had previously ntioned that a King Tier individual underestimated these Low Tier creatures and entered the deep pit alone, only to barely escape upon using a life-saving trump card.

This ant that Chu Xiu could choose his battlefield and draw the enemy forces out of the deep pit.
The reinforcent speed of the enemy was limited, and as long as he didn’t step into their trap, the enemy’s large numbers would be considerably weakened.
Even if many high-tier enemies were dispatched and Chu Xiu found them overwhelming, he could retreat safely back to the stronghold with the help of nurous life-saving cards.

The next stronghold had not yet been equipped with weapons, as hastily advancing might lead to a devastating ambush by the calamity.
However, basic defensive installations were complete, so Chu Xiu designated it as his battlefield.
Yet, just as Chu Xiu was about to continue, he suddenly sensed sothing and sharply turned his head. About a hundred ters behind him hovered a tiny fly-like insect.
A cold gleam appeared in Chu Xiu’s eyes; he continued forward without alerting suspicion, and the insect’s erratic flight concealed its continuous pursuit.
Once deep inside the passage and so distance from the stronghold, he suddenly launched himself backwards with unbelievable speed, crossing the hundred ters in a blink and reaching out to grasp the insect!
The insect swiftly tried to dodge, but it couldn’t outpace Chu Xiu and was caught in his grasp. A light squeeze yielded no sensation of crushed flesh, replaced instead by the harsh screech of tal.
When Chu Xiu released his hand, only flattened electronic components and a tal shell remained.
