But if it is indeed a celestial being, what is its purpose? And why has it remained secluded for so long?
Chu Xiu thought for a long ti, yet still couldn’t figure it out, so he decided to leave it be for now, simply saying, "The matter is urgent, I request the Great Elder to allow to personally et the Saint Monk."
The Great Elder exchanged opinions with the other elders, knowing the urgency of the matter and didn’t decline: "Please follow , but whether the Saint Monk is willing to see you is not sothing I can decide."
Chu Xiu nodded. Following this, Liang Zhan and the others stayed in the main hall, while only the Great Elder accompanied Chu Xiu towards the Buddha Tower.
As they got closer to the Buddha Tower, the bodies of the Four Great Vajra beca clearer; these twenty-ter tall, fierce looking giants exuded an aura of oppression. They lowered their heads, eyes glaring fiercely, creating an intimidating presence.
"The Saint Monk resides at the very top of the Buddha Tower. The rest of the way, you will need to proceed yourself."
The Great Elder opened the grand door of the Buddha Tower for Chu Xiu and stood aside, not daring to approach, seemingly quite fearful of the interior of the tower.
Chu Xiu did not force the issue, simply stepping into the Buddha Tower.
The inside of the Buddha Tower was dark and gloomy, unlike the opulent and magnificent temples. There were no decorations, only layers of piled bricks, and touching them even left behind a finger’s worth of dust.
In the center of the Buddha Tower was a staircase leading to the top. Chu Xiu wasted no ti and quickly ascended, arriving at the top floor in no ti.
It resembled a small temple here, with a six-ter tall Golden Buddha Statue placed at the end. In front of the statue was an offering table with an incense burner holding three sticks of incense. A figure cloaked in robes sat cross-legged before the offering table, back facing Chu Xiu, unmoving and face indiscernible.
"I am Chu Xiu, visiting with important matters to discuss with the Saint Monk," Chu Xiu said loudly and respectfully.
However, as his voice fell, the figure with its back turned remained completely motionless, as if it didn’t hear him at all.
Chu Xiu frowned slightly and repeated his greeting even louder, yet the figure continued to show no signs of response.
Realizing sothing was wrong, Chu Xiu strode forward, and as he arrived beside the figure, his pupils dilated slightly!
He discovered there was only a human skin left underneath the robes!
That skin was propped up like clothes on a hanger by two simple horizontal and vertical wooden sticks, showing no signs of decay, yet was plump and lifelike with visible veins and fibers!
"What the..."
Before Chu Xiu could finish reacting, the enormous Buddha Statue behind him began to ooze black blood from its nose, mouth, ears, and eyes, flowing continuously in thick, pitch-black liquid!
Alarm bells rang in Chu Xiu’s mind. Without hesitation, he gripped the Perfect General Tier long blade and struck towards the statue!
Yet when the blade hit the statue, it felt eerily strange in his hands, as if slashing through sothing empty and weightless like cotton, and the wound on the statue sprayed a large cloud of black smoke as dark as ink! These smoke clouds transford into shapes of Hungry Ghosts in the air, lunging towards Chu Xiu!
"Courting death!"
Chu Xiu snorted coldly, channeling energy into his long blade. Imdiately, brilliant blade light shone around him, slicing through the smoke ghosts completely, but sothing strange happened; those severed ghosts did not die, instead splitting into identical duplicates, once again lunging at Chu Xiu!
Startled, Chu Xiu continuously swung his long blade, defending himself tightly, but how can a blade, no matter how fast, sever the smoke? Soon, the ever-splitting smoke ghosts densely surrounded Chu Xiu at the center.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Chu Xiu promptly decided, striking the wall with an empty palm to break out of the tower and escape to the outer world, but at that mont the enormous statue spewed another mouthful of black mist. Instantly, Chu Xiu felt a suprely evil and dark, chilling aura enveloping him entirely, like the culmination of the world’s malevolence, converging countless negative energies.
Chu Xiu was unable to resist at all, having all his Life Force extracted in an instant.
"Thunk."
His stiff, bloodless body fell to the ground, shattering to countless pieces.
At the sa ti, Chu Xiu’s original body stationed at the front line opened his eyes, a hint of shock flickering within them.
"What kind of Divine Techniques is this?"
Upon touching that black mist, he felt surrounded by countless evil thoughts, as if witnessing thousands of human tragedies in an instant, then losing all capacity to resist, being drained entirely of Life Force.
"It seems to be so kind of ntal attack, but extrely peculiar!"
Chu Xiu had never encountered such an attack before, his expression turning solemn.
Although the Blood Demon Avatar wasn’t strong and lacked Legendary Equipnt for protection, being utterly destroyed without even a mont’s resistance still filled Chu Xiu with shock.
"That thing residing within the Buddha Tower contradicts the sacred and solemn nature of the Buddha completely, an entity profoundly evil."
"Where did the legendary Saint Monk disappear to? Is it that drained human skin? Or was it originally so evil existence? And what is that eerie statue?"
Nurous questions surfaced in Chu Xiu’s mind, but quickly he suppressed them, acknowledging random speculation was pointless in the absence of information.
However, he accurately grasped one fact.
"Peaceful ans to obtain what I seek are likely impossible."
