Sui Liushu turned around, a pond of thrashing Treasure Fish at his back.

’So, you’ve co to pay your respects at this hour. Did you bring your god-grandson along to ask for a reward?

’Coming from a Major Clan... so short-sighted. All he knows is how to take advantage!’

He chuckled to himself, deciding to treat it as fattening them up for the slaughter—a last al for the grandfather and grandson.

He imdiately instructed the Steward to go to the storeroom and retrieve so ordinary Spiritual Objects of dium quality.

’After all, I’m about to consu his godfather as a Daoist Can. I should at least offer so compensation.’

’Ah, Younger Brother Yang... you’ve followed for so many years. You’ve certainly worked hard, even if you haven’t made any major contributions.’

Sui Liushu recalled how for the past several days, Yang Xun had carefully attended to him at his sickbed.

He’d been like an old brother, cooking a few side dishes each day, warming a pot of good wine, and keeping him company, chatting about this and that.

He couldn’t help but sigh. He already had one foot in the grave.

To have an old acquaintance to keep him company was actually quite a rare thing.

’I’m actually starting to feel reluctant. If Liu Huan weren’t pressing so hard, and if Jade Pearl hadn’t yet reached Foundation Establishnt and needed a Dharma Lineage to use as a resource... it wouldn’t be so bad for the two of us to just be companions.’

But Sui Liushu was, after all, a veteran Demon Cultivator who had clawed his way out of Dangyin Ridge. His temperant had always been decisive, and with a brief turn of thought, he snuffed out that flicker of hesitation.

He strode to the main hall and saw Yang Xun standing at the bottom of the steps, followed by a youth with a calm and composed expression.

He laughed heartily.

"This must be Nephew Jiang! Truly extraordinary in bearing, and quite handso—even more outstanding than the rumors say! Younger Brother Yang, you truly are fortunate!"

’Old Dog Sui really knows how to put on an act!’

Yang Xun’s sparse brows twitched as a smile ford on his fierce face.

"Yes, the Celestial Lord has smiled upon and bestowed upon a fine junior, a fine grandson!"

Jiang Yi took a step forward and perford a Daoist salute.

"Disciple Jiang Yi of the rit Supervision Institute, paying my respects to Elder Sui."

Sui Liushu examined him for a few monts, his brow furrowing slightly.

Standing at the foot of the stairs, Jiang Yi’s posture was straight and tall. His features seed carved from jade and cast in gold, and his entire body radiated a gentle, lustrous sheen.

These were signs that he had passed the Body Barrier of the Qi Cultivation Sixth Layer. His Cultivation Furnace was exceptionally well-consolidated, and his foundation was incredibly solid.

’This boy? To think such a talent exists within the Outer Sect!’

The smile on Sui Liushu’s benevolent face froze. It faded, as if he’d just swallowed a fly, and his brows dipped low.

’Such a fine young man, fallen into Yang Xun’s hands. It’s like a diamond falling into the mud, utterly sullied!’

He cultivated Ding Fire and prided himself on his perspicacity, believing his judgnt of character to be nearly infallible.

The only major setback in his life had been at the hands of Liu Cheng, and ever since, he had utterly loathed any Cultivator of Kui Water.

A talent on par with Xu Yan was the result of Sui Liushu painstakingly combing through all the Major Clans in Beimang Ridge.

He could be considered one of the more prominent prodigies of the Inner Sect Dharma Lineage.

Now, seeing Jiang Yi, Sui Liushu had the deep sense that this young man was in no way inferior to Xu Yan.

That was why he felt that Yang Xun had hit the jackpot, that his ancestors must be smiling down on him, for him to have secured such a god-relative.

’Yang Xun is just an Outer Sect Servant. What help can he possibly offer? If the boy knows what’s good for him, he should co and study under instead!’

After letting his thoughts race, Sui Liushu slowly took the main seat and looked at Jiang Yi with a beaming smile.

"Nephew Jiang, have you made up your mind? Do you wish to accompany Xu Yan down the mountain to eliminate the rabble causing trouble for our Dharma Lineage? It is a fine assignnt worth a great deal of rit, a rare opportunity within the sect."

Jiang Yi cupped his hands and replied:

"The Fire Cave and Water Cave at the rit Supervision Institute have shown no signs of unrest lately. I should be able to accompany Senior Brother Xu on this trip."

Sui Liushu nodded in satisfaction. Sending this boy away down the mountain would make it much easier to take Yang Xun as a Daoist Can.

When Jiang Yi returned to the sect, he could just cook up any excuse to placate him.

Besides, dead n tell no tales.

And if he played his cards right, showering the boy with favors to win his loyalty, he might even be able to recruit him.

Xu Yan, for instance, had been chasing the carrot of the Innate Sect for a long ti, diligently handling all sorts of trivial matters for him.

"Nephew Jiang, don’t be intimidated by the apparent strength of those Loose Cultivators. They may have gathered seven or eight hundred strong, but with your and Xu Yan’s Cultivation, you could annihilate them with a snap of your fingers.

"These types who are just Collecting Miscellaneous Qi and cultivating the Muddy Fiend... even thousands of them would be useless."

Sui Liushu remarked casually.

"That’s true. Back on Dangyin Ridge, Elder Sui single-handedly annihilated three thousand Loose Cultivators who were just collecting miscellaneous qi. The power of your ’True Fla Nine Dragon Shield’ was so imnse that scoundrels would tremble at the very sound of your na!"

Yang Xun praised.

’Grandpa is secretly telling about Old Dog Sui’s techniques.’

Jiang Yi’s eyelids twitched slightly. A golden light rose in the depths of his eyes, and small, tadpole-like characters glittered brightly.

’The Celestial Book said it would be today, so today it is.’

He steadied his Heart Spirit and silently circulated his Ding Fire Cultivation, concealing a flicker of candlelight deep in his eyes to guard against any secret Spells from Sui Liushu.

After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Jiang Yi felt the ti was right and shot a look at his Grandpa, Yang Xun.

He imdiately understood, chuckling as he said:

"Ah Yi is visiting for the first ti and didn’t have a chance to prepare an extravagant gift. We only have this jar of Immortal Drunk from Dangyin Ridge as a small token. I hope the Elder won’t find it lacking."

Sui Liushu bood:

"Younger Brother Yang, what are you saying! Immortal Drunk is very hard to find. A jar must be sealed underground for forty years before it can be considered fine wine. Let us drink together! We won’t stop until we’re drunk!"

Yang Xun nodded repeatedly, his expression eager.

"Then I shall humbly accept."

...

...

「Guanlan Peak.」

For so reason, Xu Yan felt a sense of unease. He had entered the Qi Cultivation Seventh Layer, and his cultivation had beco so proficient it was nearing Perfection.

He could now achieve Qi and Spirit Unite, condensing a trace of Lifebound Blood. If any misfortune or calamity were to befall him, it would surge violently.

Of course, this manifestation, which was akin to Sympathy, was not always accurate or effective.

After all, too many things could affect a Cultivator: changes in the heavens, disturbances in Spiritual Energy, or even just an unsettled mind, any of which could trigger the sensation.

Therefore, most of these premonitions were ignored, dismissed as nothing more than a poor state of cultivation for the day.
