Capítulo 1358: Chapter 1358: Paranoia

Fortunately, only Iyas was controlled.

Iyas was hit with the race-exclusive skill “Enchanting,” one of the Four Heavenly Kings from the previous Demon King, the Centipede Queen.

This skill can be considered an enhanced version of Charm. It not only doesn’t require direct eye contact but works over a wide distance. When it hits soone, it doesn’t emit any magic power fluctuations, making it impossible to defend against.

The effects of “Enchanting” change dramatically depending on the distance between the caster and the target at the ti of casting. When they reach a certain negative distance, the caster can even completely control the other’s will.

Fortunately, “Enchanting,” like most race-exclusive skills, has a long cooldown period, and ordinary potions to remove status can dispel it.

You just need to find a way to get the potion into the victim’s mouth or directly use a purification skill on them to remove it.

It seems the Centipede Queen used this skill outside Bai Jin and their perception range to prevent Yang Yu from discovering it prematurely.

Even if Iyas was controlled, at most, he would casually ask questions and gather intel, but he couldn’t fight.

Yang Yu doesn’t have to worry about Iyas suddenly pulling out a Holy Light Acceleration Stone from his pants and attacking them.

In this situation, it actually works in Yang Yu’s favor.

Why, you ask…

According to the history Yang Yu read, the Centipede Queen is known for being cautious—or should we say paranoid?

Yang Yu continued chatting with his companions as if nothing was amiss.

Whatever Iyas asked, Yang Yu would casually make sothing up in reply.

Bai Jin and the others echoed his sentints nonchalantly until Iyas’s controlled status was entirely lifted.

In the jungle.

A woman with a gray face placed her fingers on her forehead, engraving all of Yang Yu’s recent words into her mind.

She wore an extrely peculiar brown armor, resembling a centipede draped over her. The armor’s abdon featured twelve small claws, lifelike and vivid…

Actually, she wasn’t wearing armor; those were all part of her body. They were an exoskeleton of extrely complex magic-powered chitin, as strong as any legendary armor.

This gray-faced woman was one of the Four Heavenly Kings during the era of Hero Lox, the Centipede Queen.

She held a magic wand resembling the intertwined roots of an old tree, with seven red beads at its top arranged in the shape of the Big Dipper, radiating an extraordinary light.

The Centipede Queen used this magic wand to spread her “Enchanting” and temporarily control Iyas.

The Centipede Queen had heard before about the formidable priest among the hero’s ranks.

If she were to control others, that priest would undoubtedly release “Purification” on them to break her “Enchanting,” so controlling the priest was the best choice.

Unfortunately, the control distance was too long, making it impossible for the controlled person to perform a series of complex actions.

However, controlling Iyas to gather so necessary information was still beneficial.

This would ensure the following actions were conducted more safely.

The hero and his party were moving at an incredibly fast speed, so much so that even the Demon King had to take notice.

Originally, the Demon King wanted to set up a series of traps to contain them.

But because Yang Yu and his party disrupted nurous plans early on, many elite troops were needed to fill the gaps, leaving few hands available for organizing a large capture operation.

Thus, the Demon King reconsidered and decided to draw off two of the Four Heavenly Kings from the frontlines to carry out a quick and effective eradication of the hero’s group.

The hero’s group’s whereabouts were elusive.

The Demon King devised a thod, marking important cadres so that when one army suddenly vanished, it would trigger the mark, rapidly informing the two Heavenly Kings of Yang Yu’s location and allowing them to quickly track him.

Finally, they tracked down the hero’s party, only for the Centipede Queen to hear shocking news she hadn’t expected.

There was a traitor within the Demon King Army.

And that traitor…

The Centipede Queen glanced sidelong at the green-skinned man beside her.

The man’s long nose stood out prominently against his broad face, his sharp ears slightly drooping. If his tall, robust body were covered, he would look exactly like a hideous goblin. The man has a peculiar na: Cide the Goblin God of War.

Unexpectedly, the traitor was right beside her!

Why would the Goblin God of War betray them for the hero’s cause?

The Centipede Queen constantly pondered this question in her head, quickly arriving at her own conclusion:

Goblins aren’t broadly considered part of the Demon Clan; they’re rely a type of demon. They must breed with females of other races to produce offspring.

When the Demon King selected the Four Heavenly Kings, the Goblin God of War’s inclusion brought many doubts.

“Not of our kind, their heart will differ.”

Perhaps those doubts planted the seeds of betrayal in Cide’s heart.

Perhaps the Goblin God of War and Hero Lox made so secret pact; once the hero defeats the Demon King, he will take over as the new King of Demon World, ruling over all magic beasts and demons above the Demon Clan.

Terrifying.

The Centipede Queen grew increasingly uneasy with these thoughts. No wonder the Goblin God of War was eager to volunteer to take on the hero. If they entered the hero’s attack range together, he’d certainly turn against her, collaborating with the hero in a pincer attack, leaving her with no reprieve.

Such a despicable fellow!

Just as the Centipede Queen was contemplating how to deal with the two enemies, Cide the Goblin God of War inquired:

“How did it go? Did you gather any special intel? Did they say how they’ve been swiftly defeating our armies?

Judging by the wounds and traces they leave behind, they know exactly where each enemy’s vulnerabilities lie.

I want to know how they managed to find out about those weaknesses.”

How they know, don’t you have a clue yourself?

The Centipede Queen gave Cide a glance, which he keenly noticed:

“I’m asking you sothing! What’s with that look in your eyes?”

“It’s nothing, our timing was off. They all seed serious but were just discussing what to have for dinner. No valuable intel at all. They really are relaxed.” The Centipede Queen casually replied.

“I knew it was a waste to use your skill. I should have waited until you could invade their bodies and complete the control.” Cide the Goblin God of War muttered with a cold snort.

“I am a magician. Magic is my specialty, don’t push the impossible.”

Cide pulled out his weapon, the long stick, Sky Fall, from behind him. “Then join , don’t waste ti. You must understand that due to their mistakes, the Demon King Army’s morale has greatly dropped.”

Cide took a step forward, but the Centipede Queen hesitated to follow.

Cide turned to look at the Centipede Queen, asking, “What’s the matter? What are you worried about?”

The Centipede Queen smiled slightly and followed slowly, “I’m just thinking, let’s finish them off quickly so we can go ho.”
