Now reading: Chapter 298 - 298 298 from Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!, a Game novel by Dancing Eggplant.

298: 298 298: 298 Night had fallen, and Iyas sat alone at a roadside food stall for her al.

The tables were low and matched with equally low chairs, which required one to hunch over to sit down—sothing Iyas still found sowhat uncomfortable no matter how many tis she did it.

Why choose a roadside stall instead of a restaurant with cuisine prepared by Chilom?

Iyas herself was quite helpless about it.

The luxurious restaurants were nice in every way, but just too expensive.

Yang Yu didn’t give her much for pocket money, and Iyas had previously experienced that kind of treatnt; she knew the hardship of earning money and naturally dared not spend recklessly.

Therefore, Iyas had been choosing to eat at roadside stalls these past few days.

To say there was nothing good about roadside stalls would be untrue—they were cheap and delicious, and moreover, one could simply lift their head to take in a view of the starry sky, finding the simple pleasures that ca with poverty.

The only issue stemd from Iyas being too naturally beautiful, which made her stick out amidst the typical roadside stall crowd.

Whenever she sat there, eating her fill, people inevitably took pity on her and ca over to chat.

In their eyes, such a beautiful girl eating alone at a roadside stall in a binge must have an untold sad story.

Perhaps she had been deceived by so loathso man, now trying to drown her sorrows in drink.

This was the perfect ti for those self-proclaid gentlen to step in, just needing a good talk with the lonely beauty, inviting her to try the spicy hot pot developed by the great chef Chilom.

This would comfort her wounded soul, encouraging her to open her heart for a shallow yet profound exchange, and help her forget that heartless scoundrel.

Faced with a seemingly endless line of n trying to strike up conversations, Iyas was accustod to it by now, adeptly rejecting each and every one.

Her words carried a special fragrance, exceedingly comforting.

Since they ca coveting her body, Iyas naturally didn’t hold anything back, unleashing her inner grievances as well.

Seeing this, the thwarted n would sulk away and complain to those around them, claiming that although her face was pretty, her temperant was too fiery.

No wonder she was abandoned by a man, it was better not to bother seeking her company.

After several days, the number of people trying to approach Iyas dwindled, and she could finally enjoy a mont of tranquility, savoring the street snacks.

But even these delicacies couldn’t soothe Iyas’s increasingly restless heart.

Yang Yu, heading to Fairyland, had been gone for four whole days.

It seed the Fairies and Humans weren’t so easy to reach an understanding, requiring Yang Yu’s continuous diation.

On top of that, Yang Yu had to collect and organize all the necessary knowledge for the adventure, which was an exhaustive task, justifiably taking up several days.

Even though Iyas knew she couldn’t be hasty and had to make ample preparations to avoid any disaster mid-journey,

Even for just a mont, Iyas wanted to hasten to find her brother.

This was the reason for the mounting restlessness within Iyas’ heart.

As for Bai Jin…

ever since they returned from Fairyland, Bai Jin, as if struck by so shock, had been frantically studying magic, neglecting sleep and food, wishing she could spend every hour of the day engrossed in her magic studies.

Iyas could still see her when she got up on the first day, but by the second day, when Iyas wanted to invite Bai Jin for breakfast, Bai Jin had already left the dormitory early and headed to the Library to study magic, becoming increasingly elusive like a dragon seen in fleeting glimpses and then disappearing.

She was so diligent, perhaps she was preparing for the Library competition.

The prizes of the Library competition were substantial, with even the top eight contestants getting a share, among them excellent Skill Scrolls.

Yang Yu had said that Bai Jin needed to acquire more skills in order to respond flexibly and deliver higher output.

Studying while aiming for the competition’s prizes was indeed the most efficient thod.

However, Iyas didn’t want Bai Jin to tire herself out; the day after tomorrow was the Library competition, and a combination of work and rest was necessary for good results.

After eating her fill, Iyas decided to stake out a spot to urge Bai Jin to rest properly, and, if needed, even sleep with her to prevent her from getting up in the middle of the night to study magic.

To be honest, Iyas also wanted to find a place to train in preparation for the Library competition.

But after so thought, she decided it was more important to continue learning about human knowledge.

Therefore, she simply gave up on Healing, not planning to ride on the coattails of the Magician’s event.

If she could fight, she would fight; if she couldn’t, she would concede on the spot—a very Zen approach.

The contents of her plate slowly diminished, and with a satisfied heart, Iyas wiped her hands and stood up from the gradually gathering crowd in the street.

At this ti, Iyas saw two particularly conspicuous individuals in the crowd: one was a handso man with golden hair and a red Cloak, and the other was a young girl with orange-yellow hair, a Magic Potion Maker.

Perhaps the man and the girl were too engrossed in their conversation to pay attention to their surroundings and accidentally bumped into a passerby.

The passerby stumbled and nearly fell.

Trying to stabilize himself, he instinctively grabbed hold of the man’s Cloak.

With a tug on his Cloak, the man ca to a halt, his eyes revealing a hint of disgust.

Just as the nearly fallen passerby was about to breathe a sigh of relief, he realized he was holding soone else’s Cloak and quickly let go, apologizing repeatedly.

As the passerby turned around to apologize, the man’s eyes shifted from disgust to a facade that suggested it never existed, vanishing without a trace.

He patted his slightly creased red Cloak, his mouth curling up slightly to indicate it was okay and to be more careful next ti.

The passerby breathed a sigh of relief, thanked the man, and hurried away.

Turning back, the smile on the man’s face froze montarily, his eyes flashed with an air of killing intent, but in an instant, his expression returned completely to normal as if nothing had happened, continuing the conversation with the woman by his side.

Wouldn’t it have been better to show anger from the start instead of hiding it?

Perhaps he realized it was his own fault that led the man to grab his Cloak?

If so, wouldn’t the best way to handle it be to openly acknowledge each other’s mistakes and then forgive each other?

Why appear unconcerned on the surface, yet reveal such an expression behind backs.

Feeling that she wouldn’t get along with that man, it was fortunate she did not know him, nor did he have anything to do with her.

Thinking this, Iyas stepped forward, ready to head back to the dormitory.

At that mont, the man in the red Cloak cast a look in her direction.

That gaze felt like venomous snakes tightly coiling around Iyas’s body, rendering her unable to move or take a step forward, only able to watch as the man approached her with the girl by his side.

“Miss, hello, my na is Vorquis.

I have sothing I’d like to discuss with you.”
