Chapter 684: Chapter 684: Detecting an Approaching Army

Seeing they were no match, Luo Ze’s troops in front of Yang Yu began to organize an orderly retreat, with Yang Yu leading his forces in cooperation with the defense forces to launch the final attack.

His urgent task was just one person short of eting the minimum requirent to earn the title “Battlefield Supernova.”

The elite Luoze that hovered before the Luo Ze Empire’s Army were easily dealt with, but the Mages, Priests, and Archers were hidden amongst the middle section of the troops.

To knock them down, it was necessary to carve a path through Luoze’s forces.

The risk of doing so was self-evident.

Even as the Beastman Army was emancipated and Luo Ze’s troops were forced to retreat step by step, they still retained considerable combat ability.

Attempting to forcefully enter the midst of Luoze’s troops would be suicidal.

Unless… they could plunge the Luo Ze Empire’s Army into utter chaos and cause them to drop their armor and flee.

Unfortunately, they were facing the Luo Ze Empire.

Yang Yu didn’t know what thods the Luo Ze Empire had used to train their soldiers to be so skilled and loyal, but he understood the principle that a cornered beast will do desperate things; the closer to the end of the battle, the less he could afford to be careless.

The purpose of reducing the Luo Ze Elites had been achieved; many warrior-type elites were either killed in battle or captured, and the remaining ranged elites had difficulty regrouping to implent clever tactics.

If they maintained their original organization, there would be plenty of ways to target them later on.

If they were scattered and reorganized, the pressure on Wansheng Country’s rear would be greatly relieved.

During the final attack, the Beastman Army’s morale soared, and even though the Luo Ze Empire’s rear-guard tried to obstruct them in every possible way, they were still overwheld by the vast numbers of Beastn.

Climbing onto Lotcar’s back again, Bai Jin’s magic and Iyas’s arrows showed no rcy, piercing through Luo Ze elites who were surrounded by small groups of Beastn.

The proud confidence of those Luo Ze elites had long been shattered by the repeated attacks of the small Beastman groups, and the attacks by Bai Jin and Iyas were the final straws that broke the cal’s back.

The number on the panel changed from 19 to 24, and Yang Yu smiled with satisfaction, knowing when to stop.

Yang Yu ran over to Grand General Shi Gua, who was also fighting on the battlefield, and offered his advice:

“Grand General Shi Gua, I think we needn’t pursue them any further.

Now that the troops are safe, we should regroup with the main force.

If we stretch our lines too thin, and not knowing if the humans have laid traps…

Continuing the pursuit is dangerous.”

General Shi Gua, the maned dog Beastman, pondered for a mont and ultimately accepted Yang Yu’s suggestion,

“Indeed we cannot pursue too far. Thank you for your assistance this ti.

You should also quickly organize your troops and support the other units!”

After a brief exchange, General Shi Gua left, personally sounded the drums, and ordered a retreat.

Soon, the troops that had been pursuing stopped, slowly gathered, ford up, and under Shi Gua’s command, began to pull back to the main force.

Yang Yu also gathered his own troops, checked the casualties, and then gave the order to support other units.

But before Yang Yu and Shi Gua’s troops could part ways, another Luo Ze force appeared in their sight.

From a distance, their number was at least a thousand.

A thin Fox Beastman riding a horse rushed toward Yang Yu, relaying a ssage from Grand General Shi Gua, asking for Yang Yu’s opinion:

“Captain of the support squad, Grand General Shi Gua has sent to ask if we should join forces to confront that approaching troop.”

Yang Yu didn’t answer imdiately; he stood up from atop Lotcar and gazed at the approaching Luo Ze force in the distance. Their icons were almost all small black dots on his panel, and their strength was not yet clear.

“Yellow Flower.”

Yang Yu called out to Iyas, who then stood up from atop Lotcar and gazed toward the approaching enemy forces.

“Right now I can’t see them very clearly, but from my estimate, the incoming troops are roughly around two thousand, with at least, no, correction… at least forty Luo Ze Elites at their forefront, dressed in black…”

“At least forty of them?”

Yang Yu pinched his chin and pondered for quite so ti before he spoke to the Fox Beastman.

“Go back and tell General Shi Gua that we’ve changed our minds on the spur of the mont; we will cover your troops’ retreat.

He and his troops should continue to move at full speed and avoid engaging in battle.

Even if our numbers are superior to theirs, do not under any circumstances engage in battle; those who co may harbor ill intentions.

Only engage if they catch up to us.”

“I understand. I will convey your instructions imdiately,” the Fox ssenger complied and relayed Yang Yu’s advice to General Shi Gua.

General Shi Gua, without hesitation, imdiately led his troops to move at full speed and retreat.

His instincts also told him that if those Luo Ze soldiers dared to approach them, they must have co prepared.

Yang Yu also led his own elite troops into action,

“Yellow Flower, continue to monitor their movents. See whether that troop is moving towards the retreating Lu Ze forces or towards us.”

Not long after Yang Yu finished speaking, Iyas replied with utmost certainty,

“General Tu Dou, they are not moving to aid the defeated Luo Ze’s troops; they are headed directly for us.”

“Is that so…

Their ability to send reinforcents so quickly also ans they’ve rapidly disposed of other elites dispatched by Wansheng Country…

We must not underestimate their power.”

Yang Yu then looked at Bai Jin,

“Mu Jin, can you contact other nearby beastman elites? Judging by the direction from which they’re coming, it’s the southeast. Try to reach out to the elite forces heading that way.”

Bai Jin fiddled with the Crystal Ball in her hands, but no matter how many tis she tried, there remained no image on the Crystal Ball.

In the end, Bai Jin could only shake her head helplessly, “I can’t get through, the other side is on standby, but no one is answering. Perhaps they are in battle…or perhaps…”

A sense of unease began to form in Bai Jin’s heart.

Her own side had already been fast enough. The beastman elites sent out by Ajiket were powerful forces, and the cooperating troops should not have collapsed so quickly.

Yang Yu looked at Bai Jin and spoke with a smile,

“Don’t worry so much. Have more confidence in your own strength.

For now, let’s resort to increasing our troops’ speed to deplete the stamina of their forces.

If they dare to co closer, they’ll get a taste of our punches.

Be ready for battle at any mont.”

Yang Yu shouted to the nearby troops, his words not only for Bai Jin but also intended for the elite troops he was leading.

In that previous battle, it had been proven that the things Yang Yu taught were indeed effective; every elite under his command was brimming with confidence.

And so, both General Shi Gua’s troops and Yang Yu’s forces began to speed up their retreat.

But as there were still many wounded who had not been treated, the entire troop’s speed was not very fast.
