Chapter 629: I’m going to kill you.

The sky still burned with wisps of black smoke, but the demonic lightning had ceased.

Strax flew like an arrow through the thin air, the beating of his demonic dragon wings resounding like thunderclaps in succession. The wind roared against his skin, but it wasn’t just speed that drove him—it was the raw need to reach the center, to seek answers, to finally confront what remained.

His body still burned with the energy he’d consud. After devouring the system, his mind seed clearer, the chaos within more contained. But the price was clear: with each passing second, his draconic form beca more solid, more natural. Black scales glead in the dim sunlight, greenish veins ran like rivers of energy across his skin, and his aura wavered in waves of power that made the very air vibrate.

He refreshed the landscape and brought back the tallic scent of the devastated islands.

One by one, he selected them. He searched ruins, crevices, dark seas—nothing. Scathach and Scarlet were nowhere to be found. Only the last island remained.

The final piece of the ga.

When he felt it, his heart stopped for a mont.

It wasn’t just the sll, not just the taste of the aura vibrating in the air. It was sothing deep, ancient, etched into his flesh. Two distinct but equally overwhelming presences stood there as if they owned the world.

Scarlet

Strax let out a low growl. His body reacted on its own, thicker scales rising up his neck, fangs gleaming. Instinct told him to remain in draconic form, to crush, to devour. But his mind—now sharper, less blind—knew better.

To face them, he couldn’t give himself completely to the beast.

His breath ca in ragged gasps, every muscle burning as he forced the reversal. Scales retracted like dark waves returning to the sea, wings tore through the air before disappearing, and the colossal form gradually gave way to a human figure. When he finally landed on the island, his feet sank lightly into the white sand, his hands still trembling with the mory of the beast roaring within him.

Behind, in a safe spot in the sky, Daniela, Frieren, Kali, Cassandra, Bellatrix, Rogue, Bellatrix, and the others joined in flight, keeping their distance. No one dared approach yet. What happened there wasn’t cause for curiosity—it was sothing else.

Strax’s eyes widened.

And there it was.

Lying on wooden lounge chairs, like tourists in the middle of an untouched paradise, Scarlet and Scathach were sunbathing. The scene was so absurd it hurt their eyes. The world was falling apart, and they… were sunbathing.

Scarlet, her sculpted body exposed in a red bikini that glowed like embers, her pale skin taking on golden hues in the sun. Her red hair flowed like a flaming river around the chair, and a pair of sunglasses rested on the tip of her nose. She envied the notary the next ti, lazy, almost feline.

“Well, well… I finally decided to show up, big guy.” Her voice was pure mockery, as if she’d been waiting for him for hours.

Beside him, Scathach didn’t bother to move much. Her tanned skin already glowed in the reflected light, and her long black hair flowed loose, spread like a nocturnal stain on the white sand. She wore sothing even simpler, almost tribal: a black cloth tied as a top and another as a short skirt, revealing ancient scars that glowed like living runes. Her half-lidded red eyes slowly opened, staring at Strax with that ancient heaviness that made even the air around them tremble.

“You took your ti,” Scathach murmured, her voice deep and calm, devoid of any apparent emotion. “I thought you’d arrived first.”

Strax remained silent. Every fiber of his being scread at him to move on, but he forced himself to remain still, unmoved. The waves crashed gently against the shore, and the sea breeze carried the scent of salt, but there was no lightness. It was as if the entire island held its breath.

Scarlet slowly removed her glasses, folding them quickly with exaggerated calm, and set them aside. She crossed her legs with an almost theatrical elegance, tilting her head as she studied him like one appraising a rare piece.

“I expected more drama.” She laughed softly, a warm, venomous sound. “You’ve always been so… explosive. But look…” his red eyes glowed like wine in the light, “… controlled. Almost human.”

Strax growled low, his jaw clenched. Each word was charged, laced with venom.

“You treating like that… it seems she’s influenced you quite a bit, hasn’t she?”

Scarlet arched an eyebrow, surprised, but still with that playful air.

“What are you talking about?”

He didn’t blink, nor did he soften his tone. His voice was icy, leaving no room for misunderstanding.

“You’re not deaf. Listen carefully to what I said. I don’t think you’d send your daughters to their deaths on purpose… so shut up and think carefully about your answer. Because, Scarlet…”—his eyes burned like furnaces—”…if the next word cos out wrong, I’ll attack you.”

For a mont, even the sea seed to hold its breath. Scarlet, rarely cornered, leaned back slightly, assessing the threat that didn’t seem like a bluff.

She tried to regain control, her voice sounding firr than she actually felt.

“She told she would train you. That’s all.”

“Really?” Strax took a step forward, each movent heavy as thunder about to fall. “And you didn’t move a muscle to understand what kind of training it was. Right?”

The aura around him wavered in black and green flas, distorting the air as if the world itself were trying to pull away from him.

Before Scarlet could respond, Scathach calmly relaxed from her bending, smiling.

“Now, don’t be so nervous.” Her voice sounded like steel wrapped in silk. “I need you to get stronger. This is the result.”

Scarlet’s eyes flickered to her, a trace of doubt erging for the first ti.

Scathach started to stand, but didn’t have ti to complete the gesture.

A sharp cut, too fast to follow.

Scathach’s right arm flew through the air, landing in the sand, staining it red. The blood evaporated before it even touched the ground, so great was the heat emanating from the wound.

Strax was no longer in the sa place.

He appeared before her in a flash, like a shadow tearing through space. His hand, coated in pulsing energy, gripped Scathach’s neck with brutal force, lifting her as if she were nothing.

His eyes burned in incandescent arms, and his voice, when it rang out, was unlike a man’s.

“I’m going to kill you.”

The silence after the declaration weighed more heavily than any explosion. Scarlet gasped, standing up suddenly, genuine surprise etched on her face. Even the sea seed to retreat a few feet, as if afraid to approach what was happening there.

Scathach’s smile didn’t fade, even as blood ran down her body. Her red eyes fixed on Strax, shining with sothing that wasn’t fear.
