Why not sothing Sin-related?’ And it’s a fair question on the surface. Kaiden Ashborn’s awakened identity is built on the Deadly Sins. His stances are Sin-based. His group is called Valhalla’s Sinners. Every piece of his brand points toward sin iconography. Eclipse has nothing to do with any of that.
So why pick a na that breaks the pattern?
The obvious layer is Vespera. Shadow swallowing light. An eclipse is literally what happens when darkness passes in front of the sun. Vespera Ashborn is the Shadow Monarch. Her son naming his guild after the astronomical event her power represents is an Ashborn statent, plain and simple. It says ’I am my mother’s son and I want you to know it.’
That’s true. But it’s not the real reason. Here’s the real reason.
Say the na out loud. Then say ’New Dawn’ out loud.
Eclipse.
New Dawn.
Eclipsing New Dawn.
Eclipsing Dawn for short.
The guild’s na is a complete sentence with the word ’New’ removed. It doesn’t reference sin because it isn’t about sin. It’s about New Dawn. It’s about the guild his father built and his mother just gutted. The Ashborn heir registered a guild whose na reads as a declaration that he will surpass it, overshadow it, and leave it in the dark.
This isn’t branding. This is a man telling his father, in one word, that everything Magnus built is about to be swallowed whole.
