"Don’t rush, if one batch doesn’t work, send another. Eventually we’ll figure out what’s happening down there."
The AI Prisoner didn’t care at all.
Just then, a blurry figure climbed upwards.
A prison soldier exclaid in surprise, "A prisoner has co up!"
Angelo imdiately moved over to take a look, and Su Mo also beca interested, curious about who was the first to climb up.
Soon, that figure climbed up with difficulty, lay directly on the ground, and gasped for breath.
Prison Director Fezack and the Waveguide Ball controlled by the AI Prisoner gathered around.
"What’s the situation down there!"
Fezack directly asked.
"It’s too, too horrifying down there."
The figure lifted the cara in their hand and said in a terrified voice.
Su Mo was stunned when he heard the voice. The first one to climb up was actually Long Ke.
This guy can really do it, usually unassuming, yet his survival ability is so strong. It seems I truly underestimated him.
The AI Prisoner controlled the Waveguide Ball to extend a chanical arm, directly grabbing the cara to start reading the film information inside.
Honestly, Su Mo was also very curious and wanted to join the crowd and have a look.
But he held back; there’s no need to crowd unnecessarily.
At this ti, another prison soldier shouted, "Soone else is coming up."
Su Mo looked down into the Sky Pit and saw prisoners scrambling to climb up, each looking as if they’d seen a ghost.
When the prisoners all climbed up, Angelo and others went forward to grab them and inquire about the situation.
A trembling prisoner said to Angelo,
"There’s a giant platform down there, circular in shape, surrounded by a dark red viscous liquid flowing around it. The liquid keeps bubbling, and if you don’t climb well, you’ll fall into it. Those who fall are directly subrged. The scariest part is that not long after being subrged, they climb out again and beco humanoid monsters, with their exoskeleton armor fully rged into their bodies."
Angelo frowned, continuing to ask: "What else?"
"Also, there’s an entrance on the platform, seemingly leading deeper inside. I didn’t dare to go in."
The prisoner replied, shaking.
"Useless!"
Angelo cursed.
Then Angelo went to question the other prisoners who ca up.
In the following hours, about fifty prisoners climbed up.
The remaining prisoners who hadn’t climbed up basically perished, as the tid bomb’s limit had been reached.
The survival rate was abysmally low.
Soon, the AI Prisoner finished reading all the photos and shared the data with all the advanced NCOs.
Angelo also carefully reviewed them.
Su Mo curiously asked,
"So, did anyone enter the passage and bring back information?"
"Yes, there are many Synthetic Beasts inside the passage, and so mutated monsters, with even more severe contamination radiation levels."
Angelo said to Su Mo, while also showing the images to Su Mo.
They saw a synthetic monster with a human head, leopard-like body, Bai Ze’s tail, spider legs, and deep red polluted blood stains all over it.
Su Mo’s scalp tingled just looking at it, and he took a deep breath.
"What the hell kind of experints were being conducted in this lab before?"
"It’s only known to be a forbidden experint, specifics are unclear."
Angelo replied, frowning.
Just then, Prison Director Fezack waved his hand, summoning all the Prison Officers over.
Angelo and others rushed over in their chas.
Fezack spoke with a deep voice: "You’ve seen the situation; you should understand it."
"Understood, the situation is not just bad; relying on these prisoners for exploration is likely ineffective. This might be the limit, after all, we can’t provide them with weapons support like chas."
The present Prison Officers said with a headache.
"Everyone select a team of elite subordinates to operate chas and go down to investigate."
Fezack took a deep breath; if possible, he really didn’t want to send his people. After all, he couldn’t care less about the prisoners’ lives, but his subordinates were a different story. However, there was no better solution now.
"Understood."
Angelo and the others responded one after another.
Soon, ten Night Guard chas stood neatly in front of Angelo.
Angelo spoke to them seriously: "If possible, I wouldn’t want you to go down there and investigate. But the situation is clear now; relying solely on those prisoners is useless. Your reconnaissance target this ti is that passage. Go as deep as you can; if things get extrely dangerous, don’t hesitate, retreat imdiately."
"Understood!"
Everyone responded in unison.
"Go!"
Angelo stopped wasting words.
Soon, forty elite officers piloting Night Guards leaped into the Sky Pit.
The chas soon disappeared into the fog.
Angelo watched his subordinates jump down, feeling more uneasy.
Su Mo asked Angelo in confusion, "What’s buried in the depths of this ruin that’s making you all so desperate? It can’t just be a bunch of research data, right? If it’s that, it’s better not to unearth it; it’ll be a disaster."
"Can’t ask, and don’t ask, because we also don’t know. Haven’t you heard the saying, the more you know, the faster you die?"
Angelo replied, taking a deep breath.
"Hmm!"
Su Mo nodded, realizing it’s impossible to gather more intelligence.
Several hours later, apart from an occasional strange noise, the entire Sky Pit was unusually quiet, with not a single figure returning.
Fezack watched, getting angrier.
The AI Prisoner floated before Fezack and said, "According to my predictions, if they haven’t co up in such a long ti, nine out of ten are sacrificed. Send so more soldiers down."
"My subordinates are not prisoners."
Fezack replied angrily.
"I know, but developing the ruin is a top priority plan, no matter how many people are sacrificed."
After saying this, the AI Prisoner ignored Fezack and gave orders to all the soldiers and officers,
"Volunteers needed for exploration, 50 people in total, current signup progress 0/50, signup ti 20 minutes, if not enough by deadline, selection will be random."
"This...."
Everyone looked at each other for a mont.
...
Angelo and others couldn’t help but curse when they saw it.
"Damn! Forced selection of personnel."
"What can we do? Can we refuse?"
Su Mo was slightly stunned, his expression was also sowhat serious. This AI Prisoner is really sothing; it’s ruthless not just to prisoners but also to its own subordinates, toying like this.
"No, refusal ans breaking the rules. If needed, I’ll personally go down."
Angelo had also made up his mind.
When Su Mo saw Angelo wanting to go down, he coughed and symbolically said, "Why don’t I go with you? I’m quite good at exploration, and it could be a way to repay you for your care during this ti."
