At this mont, a sound of hurried footsteps approached, and a middle-aged man with a resolute and decisive deanor, clad in V-series Bio Armor, all covered in hard muscles, and of a burly stature, ca rushing over with a group of officers.
This man was none other than Baryk, the garrison commander of Thunder Base.
He walked straight up to Fierce Sun Wings and saluted.
"Lord Rogde."
Just then, the cockpit of Fierce Sun Wings opened, and Su Mo jumped down.
Baryk was just about to step forward and shake hands with Su Mo warmly when he suddenly froze on the spot, staring at Su Mo with a look of astonishnt.
"You, you..."
"Ha, let introduce myself, my na is Su Mo."
Su Mo said with a cheerful smile.
Baryk snapped out of it, furiously questioning, "How did you co to be piloting this cha? Where is Lord Rogde?"
"Oh, Rogel is dead."
Su Mo straightforwardly replied.
As soon as these words were spoken, Baryk’s face turned green, and the surrounding garrison chas all raised their weapons, aiming at Su Mo.
"Wait, wait, it’s a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding, I didn’t kill Rogel, he was murdered."
Su Mo slapped his own face, realizing he misspoke, and quickly explained.
Baryk, upon hearing Su Mo’s words, beca even more vigilant, instinctively stepping back and distancing himself from Su Mo.
Seeing this, Su Mo felt things were going south and hurriedly explained, "This cha was given to to pilot by Commander Nanqi."
Hearing this, Baryk was slightly stunned, his expression changing, and he then warned, "You’d better be honest with about the background and circumstances; if there’s any concealnt, you know the consequences."
"Alright, here’s what happened....."
Su Mo roughly explained the circumstances to Baryk.
After listening, Baryk stood there for a long ti without saying a word.
Su Mo, seeing Baryk not speaking, felt even more troubled, thinking, does he not believe ?
Just as Su Mo was feeling uneasy, Baryk’s expression softened as he replied, "I see, you’ve worked hard."
"It’s nothing, do you want to reclaim this cha?"
Su Mo breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this and inquired.
Baryk’s expression beca slightly unnatural as he heard Su Mo’s words, then he spoke, "This cha, return it to whoever gave it to you. This matter exceeds our authority. I suddenly rember, there are still many things I haven’t handled, I’m leaving first."
"Huh?"
Su Mo was quite surprised.
Unfortunately, before Su Mo could say much more, Baryk promptly left with his n.
On the way out, Baryk’s adjutant asked in confusion, "Lord Baryk, aren’t we going to reclaim that cha?"
"Reclaim what? That cha is now a hot potato. Lord Rogde was murdered, and now an unknown person is piloting his cha. Who knows what reaction the Icaroya City Lord will have when they find out? Star Ring City is about to beco unstable. Why should we get involved in this ss? We’re already in a tough spot as it is."
Baryk replied with a grave expression.
"As expected, Lord Baryk is wise."
The adjutant responded with sudden realization.
...
Su Mo looked at the back of Baryk hurriedly leaving, with a look of helplessness.
At this ti, the surrounding base personnel silently went about their business, as if nothing had happened.
Not long after, Su Mo smoothly entered the inner area of Thunder Base with Spade and the others after going through inspections.
Spade introduced to Su Mo, "Our resting area is in the F3 zone of Thunder Base. Due to limited conditions, the environnt is not particularly good."
"That doesn’t matter."
Su Mo was not bothered at all.
"Additionally, there’s one more thing to remind you of: apart from the F3 zone, we mustn’t set foot in any other zones, or we’ll be regarded as having ulterior motives."
"Understood."
Su Mo stretched lazily, only thinking about getting so rest here and then inquiring about the situation with Commander Nanqi’s troops.
"Sigh~ Do I really look like Plague God?"
Earlier, Su Mo was thinking of chatting a bit more with that Baryk garrison commander to ask about the situation, but that guy ran away faster than a rabbit, giving him no chance.
Subsequently, Su Mo followed Spade to the F3 zone.
Along the way, Su Mo curiously observed the surroundings, and his first impression of Thunder Base’s internal facilities was that they weren’t very advanced; rather, they felt very solid.
It gave the impression of extrely high quality.
The sound of stepping on the tal floor was extrely robust, suggesting that the armor layer beneath was very thick.
Of course, the internal defensive facilities were also first-class.
According to Spade’s introduction, they had already entered the outskirts of the F3 zone, an area of relatively lesser importance in Thunder Base.
However, there was a gate every fifty ters, and tal walls were equipped with various caras and concealed defense weapon installations.
There were nurous floating elevators.
You could see many guard soldiers coming and going.
This base’s structure was sowhat similar to that of the Observer Base, though its internal structure was more reasonably planned.
Before long, Su Mo and the others entered the F3 zone and ran into the stationed personnel.
"The exploration team is back!"
They excitedly shouted.
In no ti, stationed personnel from various countries surrounded their commanders.
Among them, Karina excitedly ran over to Spade and the others, shouting with great excitent, "Lord Spade, you’re back."
"Hmm!"
Spade nodded in recognition.
"Hi, Karina."
Su Mo lifted his hand with a smile to greet her.
"Su Mo! What are you doing here?"
Karina was taken aback but then broke into a bright smile, rushing up to give Su Mo a passionate embrace.
"..."
Su Mo also froze, not ready for it at all.
"We’ll catch up later, arrange for the ashes we’ve brought back to be settled down, and also arrange for the doctors to give the injured people another round of detailed treatnt."
Spade exhaled a long breath and instructed Karina.
"Alright."
Karina replied promptly.
At this mont, Karina suddenly noticed that the number of returning people was quite small, and she asked uneasily, "Why are there so few people? And why haven’t I seen Lord Grevs..."
Upon hearing Karina’s inquiry, Wang Hai and the others all lowered their heads.
Even the smile on Su Mo’s face vanished.
Spade solemnly said to Karina, "They were sacrificed."
"How could this be? Were the monsters inside the ruins too strong?"
Karina couldn’t believe it and asked with wide eyes.
"The monsters in the ruins were indeed strong, but the situation was not right; we wouldn’t have forcefully explored otherwise. The main issue was the attack from the Fallen God Sect. Grevs, Maison, and others all perished in the battle."
Rose explained to Karina.
Upon hearing this, Karina and the others’ eyes imdiately turned red, with tears welling up in their eyes.
Yet, as soldiers, they all held back their grief, not losing their composure.
