322: Chapter 322 Sturdy as a Fortified Wall (Second Update) 322: Chapter 322 Sturdy as a Fortified Wall (Second Update) “It’s a complete disaster, our strategic weapon transport malfunctioned and didn’t arrive at the designated area.

Now the enemy has launched a full-scale assault, I thought we could take our ti, but the situation has escalated so quickly.”

Commander Xiao Wen said gravely.

“Don’t bla yourself, who could have predicted this?”

Chen Shan comforted Xiao Wen.

“No, we can’t just stand by and watch, we must do sothing no matter what.”

Xiao Wen took a deep breath, filled with regret.

If he had known this would happen, he would have simply focused on defending Wushi Fortress City and buying as much ti as possible for the main forces.

“Commander Xiao Wen, give the order.

Whatever it is, we will follow you.”

Qian Cheng Xue said solemnly.

Xiao Wen’s expression underwent several changes before he finally clenched his fist and slamd it down on the table, “If that’s the case, then let’s not back down.

We attack the mountain Fortress City.”

Under normal circumstances, had Su Mo and the others heard Xiao Wen say this, they would almost certainly consider it a bit of a pipe dream; it was hard enough to attack when they were at full strength, let alone now with hardly any weapons left.

But now was not the ti for hesitation.

“Then let’s do just that!”

“We’ll assemble our troops, Su Mo, you pilot the third-generation cha and perform so reconnaissance.”

Xiao Wen was a decisive man.

Once he made a decision, there was no room for hesitation.

“No problem”

Su Mo nodded in response.

In the dead of night, Su Mo piloted the third-generation cha Slaughter Blade out of the forest, vanishing into the darkness.

He flew in the direction Xiao Wen had roughly indicated and, just to be safe, maximized the performance of his radar system.

In just over forty minutes, Su Mo was near the mountain Fortress City.

However, Su Mo didn’t dare to get too close.

The entire radar scan area was covered in red dots, both inside and outside the city.

Had it not been for the superior radar counterasures of the third-generation cha, the enemy would have likely sounded the alarm already.

Su Mo swiftly input commands, switching to the long-range optical night-vision mode.

Soon, he caught images of the peripheral red dots—a massive steel fortress bristling with cannons, close-range machine guns, and anti-aircraft missile launchers.

The weapons defenses outside the city were plentiful, with Iron Do interception missiles visible everywhere.

Additionally, while moving the optical night-vision lens, Su Mo keenly detected several hundred covert sentries.

It was clear that the security level of the mountain Fortress City far exceeded ordinary expectations.

Su Mo was puzzled whether the city was always this heavily guarded or if they had strengthened their defenses after his forces had crossed the river.

If it was the latter, then they were taking his forces too seriously.

Pushing aside his confusion, Su Mo cautiously controlled the cha, making nurous reconnaissance circuits around the Fortress City.

The snowfall grew heavier, and a strong wind began to blow.

After a while, Su Mo piloted the cha back to the woods, where Xiao Wen, Qian Cheng Xue, and a few others quickly surrounded him.

Su Mo opened the cockpit and agilely jumped down.

Xiao Wen got straight to the point, “What’s the level of defense at the mountain Fortress City?”

“There are hundreds of secret posts and periter defense fortresses, it’s no exaggeration to say it’s heavily guarded.

Frankly speaking, attacking there would an either we’re crazy or we’ve been kicked in the head by a donkey,”

Su Mo replied with a hint of self-mockery.

Although the third-generation cha was formidable, a single person’s strength was ultimately limited.

Just as if a flock of sheep were placed in front of you to kill, your hand would tire from slaying them; all the more so as they were not sheep willing to be slaughtered.

“Maybe we should attack a different city?”

Chen Shan hesitated as he looked toward Xiao Wen.

Xiao Wen would naturally not doubt Su Mo’s reconnaissance, yet he still made an irrational decision, “It’s too late, we attack Wushi Fortress City regardless of the outco!”

“Understood.”

Chen Shan fell silent for a few seconds; he wasn’t trying to persuade Xiao Wen any further.

Since he had put it that way, it ant he was prepared for a desperate struggle.

“We depart in thirty minutes.”

Xiao Wen glanced at his bracelet and thus fixed the plan.

“Yes, sir!”

The n obeyed unconditionally.

And not long after, the remnants of the sixty thousand troops erged from Lin Hai, marching impressively toward Wushi Fortress City.

Compared to their previous fully-equipped state, their ranks now appeared quite shabby.

Except for the cha units, they had retained only a few anti-aircraft weapons; the rest were all personal arms.

However, as they crossed an expanse of snow, a covert reconnaissance eye camouflaged against the side of a rock blinked red.

In Wushi Fortress City, a plump middle-aged man with nearly squinted eyes, wearing pajamas, was leisurely drinking strong liquor and savoring delicacies.

At that mont, the sound of hurried footsteps ca from outside the door, quickly followed by a knock.

“General Fizat!”

“Co in.”

Vice Admiral Fizat took his ti dining, replying calmly without panic.

Then the door was pushed open, and a subordinate walked in, saluted, and said, “The latest surveillance has sent a warning: remnants of the Sky Dragon Guild’s forces have regrouped and are marching toward us, likely to launch an attack.”

“I know.”

Fizat yawned and stretched languidly.

“General, should we imdiately deploy the mobile troops to eliminate them?”

“Have you forgotten the mistake Kanris made?

Underestimating the enemy, getting wiped out in one fell swoop?

The mont they crossed the river, I was notified.

The reason I didn’t dispatch troops to surround and annihilate them is because I don’t want to give the enemy any opportunities.

We’ve run Wushi Fortress City for so long; it’s as solid as a rock; who can do anything to us?

Why should we risk a confrontation when we can just defend our domain?

Even if they have nuclear bombs they wouldn’t be able to toss them in here.

If they fail to breach us for a long ti, they’ll naturally have to retreat.

By then, the foul weather will finish them off without us lifting a finger.

Besides, look at it from another angle, if we just hold out a little longer, and the frontline secures a victory, then we’ll be the winners.

Why should I complicate matters unnecessarily?”

Fizat was exceptionally cautious; of course, his caution stemd not from cowardice, but the shock of Kanris’s failure had a profound impact on him.

“Understood!”

The subordinate saluted respectfully and then withdrew.

Fizat alone walked to the window and opened it, letting the harsh cold wind mixed with snowflakes blow in.

He did not care about the cold at all as he gazed out into the snowy night.

After a while, a bright flair went up into the pitch-black night sky, bursting into beautiful fireworks, dazzlingly brilliant.

Soon, the rumbling sound of explosions ca from the distance—the battle had begun!

The corners of Fizat’s mouth turned up slightly; his painstakingly managed stronghold wasn’t so easily breached.

Out in the wilderness, steel bunkers unleashed their fiercest firepower upon Su Mo and his cohorts while patrolling troops rapidly congregated, using the fortress as a shield and launching relentless attacks.

Green Shield chas charged valiantly forward, only to be rcilessly blown apart.
