Night in Downti City never felt truly the sa, but having a drink once in a while didn't do more harm than fighting all the ti. I was taking my well-deserved break from all the events after all this ti.

Let's get straight to the point. I wasn't there for leisure.

The bar was crowded with drunkards and casual goers. So were already hamred after a few drinks, others were taking their fifteenth shot and still not drunk yet. It was loud and lively, filled with alcohol and sweat, but it was the one city I knew.

I was only there looking at a middle-aged, well-dressed woman who worked for an institute I was interested in. She looked to be single with the lack of a ring on her ring finger. She looked frustrated with how she drank, fast sips, and suspending the glass for a mont.

Keeping a low profile was easy, but it wasn't hard to notice a man watching a woman. Well, for . Everyone else was minding their own business and enjoying their drink.

The bartender working at the ti offered a drink for to buy, and I went with a glass of whiskey. She was only across the table, drinking a bit more. I couldn't help but notice the other jewellery she had on, a necklace with three small, shiny, colourless gems and a watch. Making an assumption wouldn't have helped at all.

My phone buzzed, and I took it out of my jacket pocket. I received a text ssage from Donny that read, 'It's been a while since we last t. How about a drink in a couple of days?'

It has been a week since I got back to Downti City to find out who was behind creating clones using my DNA and stopping them. I left my team without a word, but I asked Marvin to give so information on them.

A few people couldn't handle their drinks and were helped out of the bar. So even passed out around their friends, and others were having fun. I looked around the bar to find a few police officers enjoying themselves as well.

The bartender, who looked young, was a cute woman who knew their way around making good alcohol. "You know, I have seen perps like you before. I just can't prove it," she said teasingly. It was astonishing how social she was.

"What makes you say that?" I asked her. Then I smirked.

"Whoa! Soone who can actually take a joke. Never seen you around before, you new?"

"Yeah, first ti here,"

"Well, damn. Na's Daphine. What's yours?"

"Captain. Nice to et you, Daphine,"

"Captain, huh? I think I heard from one of my regulars. In any case, nice to et you too. Here's whiskey. Enjoy,"

She set the glass before and went to serve another custor.

'One of her regulars, huh? He sure has a mouth on a good day,' I thought regarding Daphine, and I's short interaction.

My target seed to have had enough drinks for the night, got up, and left. I followed her after placing the money under the glass to pay for my drink. When I stepped outside the bar, she rushed into a business sedan that had pulled in. I walked over to my motorcycle behind where she got picked up, revved the engine, pulled out of the parallel parking by the pavent, and followed them.

Driving at a safe distance, I followed their route.

They had stopped by a red traffic light, and I sat back in the traffic we were in. So areas of the city were under reconstruction, which ant detoured routes in most areas. The sound of car engines sitting idly was sothing I hadn't heard in a long ti.

The light turned green, and they set off, while I followed closely behind.

We travelled across the city and arrived at her workplace. Serenity Research Centre for the Extraordinary was her workplace. I parked by the pavent outside the building's front.

The exterior was impressive, with planted hedges along the walls, statues of maidens stretching one arm to the sky, and the other clutched on their chests – the statues were made of marble, and they mirrored each other, and the detail was so realistic that the cloth covering their bodies looked like it drooped – frozen in place. The entrance had a walkway paved with engraved tiles that repeated the words 'change starts with DNA' on each tile.

Fancy.

She stepped out with her colleague and stood on the walkway. I cut the engine to eavesdrop on their conversation. "Dhalia, are you sure you want to continue with how many drinks you had?" he asked her.

Dhalia paused and cleared her throat, "As, I am good to work. Besides, I didn't have that much this ti," she told him with a weak smile.

As sighed and tilted his head down, then pinched the bridge of his nose.

He then gestured for her to walk into the building, accepting her words.

After the door had closed behind them, I started the engine and rode off.

I made it back to my apartnt, which I had started renting ever since I got here.

Inside was a small hallway that led to the living room. On the left of the hallway was the bathroom with a shower and toilet on the right. The first right door led to a compact kitchen. The second door on the right led to the bedroom.

In the sitting room was a sofa in the corner across the tv and in between them was a glass coffee table. On the side of the coffee table was a black duffel bag, and on top was a black laptop.

I sat down on the sofa, reached over for the laptop, and opened it. Looking through all the files that I had on the non-profit organization. That woman's profile, Dhalia Portford, lead researcher on DNA cloning there, and her close subordinate, As Gallord, who practically works alongside her in creating using my DNA.

How they acquired it was unknown to .

After looking at more profiles from the files, I reached into the duffel bag, placed a small device on the table, and turned it on. It created a holographic image, and I used it to call the one man I trusted.

The image of General Mynde's face was ford. "Marvin, you there?" I asked him.

"Captain, have you co across anything?" he ignored my question.

"Hmm. Yeah, she works late nights after grabbing a few drinks. Getting inside won't be easy, and you know it. Might as well find an alternative if the main objective fails."

The hologram didn't change expression, but I heard him grumble on his side. "Well, fuck. Looks like you are gonna have to walk in yourself. Let them do what they will do to you, and that will give you access to the rest of the building."

"What the fuck do you an by 'walk in'? You want to give myself up!"

"That is exactly what you need to do. Ahem, look, Captain, I know that has never been your way of doing things, but it is the best chance of finding out why they are working with your DNA."

I heard what he was saying, but it wasn't how I did things. Maybe I should do it once again, willingly go into the hands of the enemy.

"Fuck! Fine, Marvin." I paused. "How are they?"

"Captain, you don't need to focus on that for now. I have it handled."

"I just want to know. Could you just do this one favour?"

"Sigh. They are good. Overseas, resting before their next mission. I am sure they can handle themselves."

"Thanks,"

Then I turned off the device, closed the laptop, sat back on the sofa, and looked up at the ceiling.

'This might take longer than I anticipated,' I thought to myself.

Fifteen minutes later, soone knocked on my door. My eyes turned to the door before I moved. I got up and slowly walked toward my door with my pistol in one hand, finger off the trigger.

When I got to the door, I held the gun behind my back and slightly opened the door. Outside was a cloaked figure who said the words, "Miss , mate,"
