Now reading: Chapter 111: Killing the Thundercloud Lion from Devouring Soul Emperor, a Other novel by Xu Guangda.

Fortunately, the Puppet hadn't taken a direct hit, rely been rattled by the shockwave.

After unleashing the bolt of thunder, the Thundercloud Lion let out a pair of muffled roars and struggled to its feet.

The formidable aura of a Tier Three Demon Beast radiated from its body. The powerful presence stirred the very air, whipping up fierce gales.

The mane on its neck billowed in the wind. Its previously half-shut eyes snapped open, full of vigor. The Thundercloud Lion had completely shed its earlier sluggishness.

An air of royalty rose from it spontaneously. It was a born king—the king of the Mist Forest!

However, beneath this kingly aura, Chu Qingyun sensed a hint of bluff—it was strong on the outside but empty within.

The reason was simple: the Thundercloud Lion hadn't attacked him imdiately!

If the Thundercloud Lion had been at its peak, it would have blasted the small hill, forced him out, and then annihilated the annoying little fly in a single, unhesitating blow.

But the Thundercloud Lion didn't attack. Instead, it was trying to use its aura and imposing presence to intimidate Chu Qingyun into retreating.

Therefore, the more powerful it appeared, the more it betrayed its own insecurity. It clearly didn't want to fight!

"Thunderbolt Flash!"

Chu Qingyun imdiately unleashed his strongest move. A Sword Aura, flickering with lightning, slashed toward the Thundercloud Lion.

Simultaneously, he and the Puppet split up, attacking the Thundercloud Lion from the left and right.

The Thundercloud Lion was furious. 'These damned, despicable humans! Taking advantage of my grievous injuries to constantly attack and harass , giving no chance to recover. My wounds are only getting worse.'

'And now, they're intent on killing .'

Enraged, the Thundercloud Lion roared and raised a massive paw the size of a tabletop, shattering the Sword Aura with a single swipe.

The first form of the king-grade Sword Technique, Chu Qingyun's strongest attack, had rely left a blackened scorch mark on its paw.

After shattering the Sword Aura, the Thundercloud Lion opened its maw again. Wisps of thunder could be seen coalescing within its cavernous mouth.

"Stealth!"

"Ten-Star Vine!"

Gritting his teeth, Chu Qingyun activated two Martial Souls at once.

His form rapidly blurred as ten dark-green vines erupted from his position, spreading swiftly in all directions.

BZZT!

With a scalp-numbing sizzle, a dazzling bolt of thunder shot from the Thundercloud Lion's mouth, streaking straight toward Chu Qingyun.

The Thundercloud Lion was no dumb animal. As a powerful Tier Three Demon Beast, its intelligence, while not on par with a human's, was not far behind.

The Puppet clearly lacked any life force; it had determined that the human was the real key.

The instant the thunder flared, Chu Qingyun leaped. Two vines attached to a tree on his left pulled with all their strength, yanking him swiftly to the side.

The blinding bolt of thunder grazed past him.

Though it wasn't a direct hit, the residual power alone was enough to scorch the clothes on his chest black. Fortunately, the Profound Celestial Divine Pattern protected his body, leaving only a thick, red welt from the heat.

'That was close... I dodged it.'

"Puppet, go!"

Having dodged the attack, the Puppet had already closed in on the Thundercloud Lion.

Under Chu Qingyun's control, the Puppet leaped high into the air and viciously slamd a fist into the beast's body, opposite its wound.

The force of a level-seven Martial Artist erupted violently within the Thundercloud Lion's body.

Ordinarily, an attack of this level would have been nothing more than an itch, unworthy of its notice.

But now, with a fatal wound on its other side, the force of the punch sent a shockwave through its flesh and bones. A torrent of fresh blood sprayed from the gash, and the Thundercloud Lion roared in agony toward the heavens.

After landing the punch, the Puppet dropped to the ground and quickly retreated toward Chu Qingyun.

This was the Puppet's weakness: attacking with full force consud its Primordial Power at an incredible rate. It needed constant replenishnt to keep fighting.

Enduring the searing pain in his chest, Chu Qingyun took out several thousand Upper-Grade Primordial Stones. He shattered them and forced the released Primordial Power into the Puppet.

As the Thundercloud Lion recovered, its furious eyes beca completely bloodshot with rage.

It opened its mouth wide, and an even more powerful bolt of thunder rapidly coalesced within.

The Thundercloud Lion's body was in a truly wretched state. It could only resort to thunder attacks; otherwise, it would have already pounced and torn Chu Qingyun to shreds.

"You want more? Not a chance!"

Chu Qingyun snorted. Ten vines from his Ten-Star Vine suddenly shot out from the ground beside the Thundercloud Lion. Like ten nimble vipers, they coiled and plunged into the massive wound on the beast's flank.

The wound was torn open anew. With ten long vines writhing inside its body, the Thundercloud Lion lost all reason and roared in fury.

The Thundercloud Lion thrashed its head and roared. With a sizzle, the coalesced thunder shot out, shattering countless massive trees and carving a scorched, several-hundred-ter-long path through the Mist Forest.

'It's now or never!'

Gritting his teeth, Chu Qingyun charged toward the Thundercloud Lion, his Puppet right alongside him.

Thunderbolt Flash!

Gale Sword!

One strike after another, Chu Qingyun relentlessly drove sharp, violent bursts of Sword Aura into the Thundercloud Lion's body through the open wound.

anwhile, he directed the Puppet to force its way directly inside the Thundercloud Lion's belly.

Inside a Demon Beast's body, without the protection of thick hide and fur, the defenses are incredibly low.

The vines, the Puppet, and the Sword Aura—all three ravaged the beast from within, tearing the wound on the Thundercloud Lion wider and wider. Blood gushed out incessantly, occasionally mixed with chunks of flesh and fragnts of internal organs.

The Thundercloud Lion was going berserk. It roared in a frenzy, thrashing its body wildly as it spat out one tyrannical bolt of thunder after another, leaving the surroundings in utter ruin.

But Chu Qingyun stayed right by its side, nimbly dodging and weaving, always keeping himself positioned near the wound.

As long as he avoided the Thundercloud Lion's head, he wouldn't have to worry about being struck by the terrifying thunder. In that respect, the closer he was, the better.

After all, the Thundercloud Lion was already so weak it could no longer control its own body properly.

The brutal struggle lasted for about five minutes. The Thundercloud Lion lost a trendous amount of blood, and the entire area beca saturated with the thick, nauseating stench of a slaughterhouse.

Finally, the Thundercloud Lion could hold on no longer. With a final, sorrowful howl, it crashed to the ground.

After a series of convulsions, the light slowly faded from its enormous eyes.

And so, a magnificent Tier Three Demon Beast t its end at the hands of Chu Qingyun.

Even Chu Qingyun couldn't help but marvel at the power of a Tier Three Demon Beast. Not only was its thunder formidable, but its Life Power also far surpassed that of a Tier Two Demon Beast.

'To be ravaged so brutally from the inside and still hold on for a full five minutes... It's terrifying!'

When the Puppet erged, it was covered in blood and gore. Chu Qingyun rinsed it off with so water before recalling it into his Storage Ring.

Ever since getting the Storage Ring, Chu Qingyun always kept it well-stocked with water and food.

Just then, his ear twitched. He thought he could faintly hear the voices of many people in the distance.
