"Leader, aren't we supposed to be feeding that monster... those from the Martial Artist Realm?"
The Level 9 Martial Master asked, his voice trembling.
Tunfeng smiled cruelly and patted the man's shoulder. "Compared to those in the Martial Artist Realm, that thing prefers to eat Martial Masters. We need to use it tonight, so let's give it a fine al."
"But... won't this breed resentnt among the n who were originally stationed in Shilin Town...?" the Level 9 Martial Master asked hesitantly.
Tunfeng grew impatient with his hemming and hawing.
"If you're so afraid of their resentnt, how about we feed you to that monster instead!?" Tunfeng snarled, glaring at him.
The Level 9 Martial Master's legs went weak with fear. He didn't dare say another word and quickly hurried away with a few n.
A dozen or so minutes later, in a huge basent in the back courtyard.
Tunfeng and a few of his Level 9 Martial Master subordinates stood quietly at the entrance, waiting for the n to be brought to them.
Deeper inside the basent sat a massive black iron box, nearly ten ters long, wide, and tall.
Each side of the iron box was sealed tight. Bright, silvery patterns covered its surface, emitting faint fluctuations of Primordial Power that served to reinforce the seal.
The only exception was the top, which had a hole about one ter in diater.
The doorway where Tunfeng and his n stood was slightly higher than the box. Peering into the hole, one could see nothing but pitch-black darkness.
From within the iron box, a muffled THUD and a low roar would occasionally erge.
Every ti the sound rang out, everyone, including Tunfeng, would involuntarily tremble.
They had witnessed the horror of the thing inside with their own eyes!
Soon, the sa Level 9 Martial Master returned with his n. They had captured ten Martial Masters from the Martial Soul Hall contingent that had originally occupied Shilin Town. Most of them were only Level 4 or Level 5, and the strongest among them was rely a Level 7 Martial Master.
Currently, all the Level 9 Martial Masters from the Martial Soul Hall in Shilin Town were n Tunfeng had brought with him.
Among the Martial Soul Hall mbers who had occupied Shilin Town for over a decade, there were many Martial Masters, but not a single one was Level 9.
"Lord Tunfeng, you... you summoned us so late... Is... is there sothing you need?"
The Level 7 Martial Master had a bad feeling, but he forced himself to ask.
Tunfeng smiled and gripped the man's shoulder. "Of course I summoned you for an important matter. The ti has co for you to make a contribution to the Martial Soul Hall!"
Before the words even left his mouth, Tunfeng suddenly tightened his grip and flung the Level 7 Martial Master into the air, tossing him precisely into the hole on top of the iron box.
THUMP.
A dull landing sound echoed from within.
Tunfeng and the other Level 9 Martial Masters instinctively took a small step back. They stared intently at the massive iron box, their eyes filled with an undisguised revulsion!
"HRRRNGH..."
A strange, almost excited roar echoed from within the iron box.
The entire iron box suddenly shuddered violently. Then, from within, ca a series of skin-crawling chewing sounds.
Hearing this, the legs of the nine remaining captives gave out. Unable to even stand, they were held in place by several of the Level 9 Martial Masters.
'Tunfeng had captured them just to feed them to the thing in the box!'
"L-Lord Tunfeng, you... you can't do this! We're... we're all mbers of the Martial Soul Hall!" one of them stamred.
Tunfeng sneered. "It's good that you know you're from the Martial Soul Hall. Now is the ti for your contribution."
"My Lord, we still have plenty of other Martial Masters locked up! You can throw them in instead!" one of them suddenly exclaid, a flash of inspiration in his voice.
But Tunfeng shook his head and said with a sigh, "That monster is only interested in killing, not eating. What he likes to eat... are mbers of the Martial Soul Hall..."
"Damn it! I'd rather die than be eaten!"
A captured Level 6 Martial Master suddenly roared. His body began to tremble violently as the aura of his Primordial Power and Martial Soul Power erupted in a berserk frenzy.
He was about to self-destruct his Primordial Power!
Unfortunately, the Level 9 Martial Master holding him was prepared. A powerful surge of Primordial Power instantly flooded the man's body, sealing off his own.
He wasn't even given the chance to self-destruct!
"Enough. Hurry up and throw them all in," Tunfeng said, waving his hand impatiently.
One of the Level 9 Martial Masters stepped forward and, one by one, tossed the captured Martial Soul Hall mbers into the iron box.
The box imdiately erupted with a series of strange, low-pitched roars, accompanied by the ceaseless, blood-curdling sound of chewing.
After the last Martial Master was thrown in, the Level 9 Martial Master turned to leave.
Just then, however, two dark-red, fleshy tentacles covered in putrid sli shot out from the hole in the lid. With a SWOOSH, they wrapped around the Level 9 Martial Master's waist!
"This... Lord Tunfeng, help ! Help !"
The Level 9 Martial Master froze for an instant before crying out for help.
The expressions of the other Level 9 Martial Masters changed. They drew their weapons, ready to rush to his rescue.
Tunfeng, however, held out a hand to stop them. He watched, unflinching, as his own subordinate was dragged into the iron box by the two dark-red tentacles.
A blood-curdling scream echoed out, followed only by the sound of faster, more excited chewing.
"My lord, you..."
Tunfeng shook his head helplessly. "The monster has a foul temper. We need it tonight, so we can't afford to provoke it. It's likely just overexcited because it hasn't eaten a Martial Master in a long ti. Wait ten minutes, then go drag the box to the town entrance. I'll be waiting for you there."
With that, Tunfeng turned and left.
The remaining Level 9 Martial Masters all looked grim. As they stared at the box, their eyes were filled with profound terror.
Twenty minutes later, the Level 9 Martial Masters carried the enormous iron box to the entrance of the town.
Tunfeng was already there, waiting with all the other Level 9 Martial Masters he had assembled.
Tunfeng took the scrap of cloth he had found from Chen Yu's clothing and tossed it into the iron box.
After a series of sniffing sounds, heavy POUNDING ca from the north-facing side of the iron box.
A flicker of delight flashed in Tunfeng's eyes.
"Those five bastards from the Great Xia Dragon Guard are to the north! Move out!"
A party of more than three hundred n, carrying a massive iron box, set off to the north...
Not long after they departed, Chu Qingyun dispelled the Wind-Soaring Wings at his back and landed near Shilin Town.
'Hidden Qi Technique!'
'Stealth!'
His aura completely vanished as his figure lted into the shadows. Chu Qingyun moved swiftly through the night, darting into Shilin Town and making his way toward the Town Mayor's Mansion.
