"Xiao Feng, take the others back to the County City! It's useless for you to stay here!"
Chu Qingyun shouted, then fell off the cliff along with the monster, Tunfeng, and the shattering platform.
Xiao Feng and the other two turned pale with shock and rushed to the cliff's edge.
"Wind-Soaring Wings!"
With a grim expression, Xia He waved his hand, casting the Soul Technique on all three of them, and was about to jump.
But Xiao Feng reached out and grabbed him. "Xia He, be rational! Don't go."
"What do you an by that?" Xia He asked coldly.
Xiao Feng shook his head. "With our strength, we can't even hurt that monster. What's the use in going after him?"
"I can give him Wind-Soaring Wings, Fatty Huang can give him a Defensive Soul Technique, you can..."
"Enough! Didn't you see that Chu Qingyun deliberately shattered that section of the platform?" Xiao Feng shouted, cutting Xia He off.
"Xiao... Xiao, what do you an? The captain was clearly fighting the monster on even ground," Huang Yinghao stamred.
"Primordial Power! Have you all forgotten about Primordial Power?"
"The captain first defeated over a hundred Level Nine Martial Artists, then fought that monster for so long. His Primordial Power must be running out. That's why he... Ugh! It's all our fault for being useless..."
Xiao Feng sighed heavily as he spoke.
The thought of how Chu Qingyun, at the last mont, had gotten himself entangled by the monster to save the four of them, made their chests tighten.
At that mont, Chu Qingyun could have chosen to protect himself and sever the fleshy tendrils wrapped around him.
But if he had, the four of them would have been dragged down by the monster instead.
"The mission's a failure. What kind of monster is this? How could a re Captain Level team possibly deal with it!? Even a Half-Step Martial Spirit might not be its match!"
Xiao Feng couldn't help but curse out loud.
"Xiao, let's hurry back and get reinforcents! Both the Lord Military Commander and Grand Commander Yu think highly of the captain. They'll definitely send a Martial Spirit Level expert to save him. Even if they're too late... they can at least avenge him!"
The three made their decision, picked up the heavily injured Chen Yu, and flew toward the spot where they had released the Giant-winged Goose.
After summoning the Giant-winged Goose with a special call, the four of them flew up to it without waiting for it to land.
Xia He went a step further, unstintingly pouring the Martial Soul Power from his Tier Four Wind Feather Crane Martial Soul into the Giant-winged Goose. The goose's body lit up with a green glow, and it flew toward the County City at incredible speed.
Down in the chasm, Chu Qingyun, the monster, Tunfeng, and the boulders—everything was plumting, falling faster and faster.
There was no telling how deep the cliff was. A Level Nine Martial Artist might be strong, but they weren't without limits.
If the chasm was deep enough, the fall would be just as fatal!
In mid-air, Chu Qingyun swung his sword, severing the monster's fleshy tendrils, and shot a cold glare at Tunfeng, who was clinging to the monster's back.
Tunfeng was so furious he cursed, "You lunatic! You're insane! We're all going to be smashed to pieces at this rate!"
"Smashed to pieces?"
"That's your fate, not mine. I won't die from the fall."
Chu Qingyun sneered, batting away so nearby debris. He then commanded ten Ten-Star Vines, which SHUNK SHUNK SHUNK, all plunged into the cliff wall beside him.
The ten vines pulled taut, and Chu Qingyun's descent ca to an abrupt halt. He hung from the sheer cliff face like a spider.
"Damn it!"
Tunfeng cursed under his breath, then patted the monster beneath him. He pointed at Chu Qingyun and made a series of whistling sounds.
The monster wasn't completely brainless. It mimicked Chu Qingyun, shooting out all the fleshy tendrils around its nose and jamming them viciously into the rock wall. It even dug in its claws and its half-torn tongue, scraping away huge chunks of rock, but it finally managed to stabilize itself.
However, Chu Qingyun had co down here precisely to kill them.
And naturally, Tunfeng and the monster wanted to see Chu Qingyun dead as well.
And so, the two sides, clinging to the cliff wall, began to fight once more, moving up and down in a flurry of attacks and counterattacks.
Showers of rock were scraped from the cliff face as the two fought, slowly descending as their battle raged on...
They remained tangled in battle on the cliff wall for nearly three hours!
Chu Qingyun slamd his sword into the monster's head, sending it crashing down and tearing away a huge section of the cliff face for what felt like the dozenth ti.
This ti, however, it didn't manage to grab hold of the cliff again. With a THUD, it hit the ground.
They had reached the bottom.
With a thought, Chu Qingyun retracted his Ten-Star Vine Martial Soul, kicked off the cliff wall, and leaped away to land on the ground.
Below the cliff was a barren wasteland dotted with bizarre rock formations.
On one side stood Chu Qingyun. On the other, the monster and Tunfeng. The two sides faced off in silence.
"Heh heh, Captain, we've reached the bottom. Let's see what you can do now. Without those Flying Soul Techniques, I'm about to show you the aning of fear!"
Tunfeng stood beside the monster, sneering.
Before, while hanging from the cliff, the monster's imnse weight had forced it to use most of its fleshy tendrils for support, severely limiting its combat ability.
But now that they were on the ground, things were different!
To this, Chu Qingyun replied with a sneer of his own. "Fear? Then let show *you* the aning of fear!"
Falling down the cliff with the monster was all part of his plan. Of course he wasn't worried.
As for Xiao Feng, he had guessed the outco correctly but had gotten the reason wrong.
In terms of Primordial Power, Chu Qingyun possessed a Qi Sea ten thousand ters in radius. Even in a battle of this intensity, he could fight for a whole day and night without issue!
His true purpose for doing this was to use *those* Martial Souls!
"Ten-Star Vine!"
"Iron Wall!"
"Stealth!"
"Hidden Qi Technique!"
Chu Qingyun stared intently at Tunfeng and the monster, unleashing one Soul Technique after another, along with the Hidden Qi Technique.
Tunfeng's mouth fell open, wider and wider.
Finally, he could only stand there, jaw agape, completely stunned!
'Ten vines? The sa old trick... Huh? What are those four iron walls? A Martial Soul? And... why is he getting blurry? I can't even see him anymore! His Qi is gone, too!...'
'Are... are all of these Soul Techniques?!'
'How can one person have so many Martial Souls!'
Tunfeng was utterly astonished, but the monster lacked the intelligence for surprise. Its mind held only a frenzied killing intent!
The monster roared, and all the fleshy tendrils around its nose shot out, stabbing violently toward Chu Qingyun.
"I was waiting for that!"
Chu Qingyun snorted, and the four Iron Walls stacked together, ramming violently into the fleshy tendrils.
SHUNK SHUNK SHUNK...
The tendrils pierced straight through the Iron Walls, but in doing so, they beca completely ensnared within them!
Both were Tier Three Defensive Soul Techniques, but where Huang Yinghao's Tree Demon Guardian Soul Technique was versatile and easy to use, Iron Wall was the opposite. It had a single function and was very difficult to control.
The trade-off was that it was incredibly sturdy and heavy.
Even this monster would have a hard ti tearing it apart quickly!
Seizing the opportunity, Chu Qingyun charged forward. His body seed to lt into the shadows, weaving left and right as he lunged straight for the monster's head!
