Why didn’t Teresa co?

"No, if Miss Teresa had co, I would definitely rember, I couldn’t possibly forget."

The old man shook his head, then hopefully asked, "How old is the miss? Who is her mother? Oh! Sir, don’t get wrong, I didn’t an to criticize you..."

The old butler continued to question, but Steven couldn’t hear it anymore, his mind sank completely.

No, no, no.

Teresa should have arrived long ago!

Even if she didn’t go on her own, the caravan should have gone to find her by now.

I already paid the caravan enough deposit and fees, they shouldn’t have broken the contract.

Did sothing go wrong with the caravan, did they encounter danger?

Or did Teresa refuse to follow my arrangents?

This...

The more he thought about it, the more uneasy Steven felt.

She couldn’t have had an accident, right?

Teresa!

No, that’s not right.

The anxiety in his heart made it impossible for Steven to remain calm, he couldn’t bother to explain much, and directly turned to walk towards the door.

"Sir!?"

His hasty actions made the old butler tense up, and he followed out, shouting loudly, "Sir, where are you going? It’s so dark, whatever it is can wait until tomorrow!"

But Steven couldn’t stop now.

Wait quietly for one night?

He probably wouldn’t be able to fall asleep at all.

"I need to check on it."

Steven led out the ragged horse still eating hay, mounted it, and clamped his legs to leave.

"Sir, where exactly are you going!?"

From behind, the old man’s calls grew fainter, Steven didn’t look back, and shouted directly.

"I’m going to fetch her!"

With that, he no longer explained, viciously flicked the whip and galloped towards that distant village.

"Teresa, my daughter, please don’t let anything happen to you!"

He clenched his teeth, praying to the gods.

"No matter what, you must stay alive!"

.

.

"Hey, are you still alive?"

Teresa’s eyelids fluttered slightly, she slowly opened her left eye, and saw the surrounding environnt.

She was surprisingly lying on Quinna’s back, not knowing how long she’d been carried.

"Quinna... miss? What happened to ?"

She tried to get up but felt a wave of pain throughout her body.

"Ugh!"

The back of her head felt like it had been hit by a boulder, a dull pain moved across the right side of her face, especially her right eye, as if it were imrsed in boiling water, causing her to grit her teeth.

What exactly happened?

She tried hard to recall the details before she fainted, her consciousness last lingered on the mont when the shadow bat rushed at her.

"Don’t move, I might not be able to hold you steady."

Quinna’s soft whisper brought Teresa back to her senses, and she saw the surroundings clearly.

They were still in the caves of the Dark Territory, still within the slave caravan.

However, after the previous chaos, the number of people in the caravan had been reduced by about half, including the guards.

Among those remaining, whether guards or slaves, most bore scars.

The only thing unchanged was the mysterious rchant’s carriage, intact with no changes.

Their fate remained unchanged too.

As for those slaves who tried to change their fate, who tried to escape... they t their deaths ahead of ti.

Teresa stayed silent for a while, wanting to get down from Quinna’s back, but found herself supported by her hand.

Quinna’s voice was gentle, a strong Life Force revealing through weakness: "No rush to get down, you need to rest for a while longer."

Teresa hesitated montarily but didn’t refuse her kindness, continuing to lay on that thin yet extra warm back.

After a mont, she asked in a hoarse voice, "Miss Quinna... how long has it been since I passed out?"

Although Teresa didn’t know the exact ti, the bloodstains on her right eye patch were already dry, indicating a good amount of ti had passed.

"Two days, maybe? Anyway, after you fainted, the fight ended quickly, the Mage stepped in, and those shadow bats all died in an instant."

Quinna thought for a mont, then pursed her lips, "Ugh, is it two days? I feel like it’s about right... damn it, without the sun here, I can’t clearly tell ti."

For creatures like them who lived under sunlight, the concept of ti beca distorted underground.

Is it dayti or nightti right now?

Perhaps no one could say for sure.

Teresa pursed her lips, looked up at the rock ceiling above, her voice trembling, "Do we... still have hope?"

Hearing Teresa’s whimpering whisper, Quinna was obviously stunned, then smiled and shook her head, "Well, since you’re still alive, don’t worry about those things."

"You can still breathe now, your heart can still beat, you can still feel pain, and you can still think about these things, that’s already enough."

Her comfort wasn’t particularly gentle or interesting, but surprisingly, it brought Teresa a sliver of peace.

"...Mm."

The girl nodded lightly, letting out a soft sound of agreent.

Quinna chuckled, speaking softly: "Hehe, we’ll probably reach our destination soon after a while."

Destination, a beautiful word.

For those returning ho, "destination" ans ho, ans the return to one’s residence.

But for them, these slaves being trafficked, what does "destination" ultimately an?

It’s death.

This group of poor guys will tragically et death.

Perhaps, this is their fate.

Most remaining slaves have accepted this fate, mood depressed, no longer attempting to resist.

They struggled, but couldn’t change anything.

And just as Teresa assud Quinna was the sa as the others, Quinna suddenly pinched her leg lightly.

"Hmm?"

Then, Teresa heard a faint voice enter her ears.

("Don’t worry, you won’t die, I’ll take you to a place later.")

Teresa: !!?

She heard it clearly, that was Quinna’s voice.

And most crucially, at this mont, Quinna’s words were completely different from the previous dejection!

She said:

("Don’t worry, I won’t let you die.")

("Teresa, you can completely trust , because your sister I...")

("am a Knight!")

Teresa: !!?
