"My lord? What are you doing?"
Herbert raised an eyebrow and smiled, placing his hand on her head, gently pinching her ear, and asked, "What? Is it uncomfortable?"
The original Sofia was sowhat half-transparent to Herbert; he could only fully touch her in Spirit Body form without passing through her body.
But after advancing to Legendary, Herbert no longer had such concerns and could easily hold her even in his physical form.
He originally intended to have Sofia lie on his lap, offering her a lap pillow service.
However, the Centaur's body was not convenient enough for that, and he could only achieve it after she completely lay down.
He could only resort to having her kneel in front of him, performing the current actions.
Comfortable?
Sofia blinked, feeling the gentle hand in a daze, pursing her lips, and replied truthfully, "Very comfortable."
Sofia nodded obediently, softly saying, "It's comfortable, but...why is this?"

When Herbert ntioned summoning Heroic Spirits, Sofia's reaction was completely observed by him.

What was she afraid of?
"What are you afraid of?"
Herbert comforted the Centaur, softly asking, "Sofia, are you worried about being replaced?"
Normally, after Herbert summoned other Heroic Spirits, naturally, all the spirits would have a ranking.
And as Elda's previous sole Heroic Spirit, Sofia would naturally have a sense of crisis, fearing that her position could be replaced.
This is human nature, understandable.
Herbert wouldn't be angry about such things.
"If that's the case, you don't have to worry about such things at all."
"I won't change my attitude towards you, and you won't be replaced by anyone."
"You are you, and that will never change in my heart."
As his first follower, Herbert had an undisguised fondness for Sofia.

She proved her loyalty without hesitation.

Herbert, after a brief pause, shook his head slightly, pinched her cheeks with both hands, pulling them outwards, and said in a disgruntled tone, "What are you talking about? How could I ever do that?"
"Rest assured, I wouldn't bear to sacrifice you."
Am I that kind of person?
Even if you wanted to go, I wouldn't let you, okay?
After playfully teasing the Centaur lady's cheeks for a mont, Herbert held her face and asked, "If you're not worried I'd abandon you, then why are you uneasy?"
What is the reason?
"Surely, you're not afraid of eting friends from the past?" His casual remark unexpectedly made Sofia's body stiffen again.
"Hm? Is that what you're worried about?"
"...Yes." Sofia nodded silently.
"Why?"
Herbert didn't quite understand and asked:
"Weren't they all your forr comrades? What's so unsettling about that? Do you have enemies in your past? Any...oh!"
Halfway through his words, he suddenly realized where Sofia's unease stemd from.
It wasn't because she rembered past enemies; it was because she...couldn't rember anything.
She had already forgotten the past.
She forgot everything and rembered nothing.
The Centaur lady now is like a blank slate, with all past connections severed from her.
The only person she could rely on was herself.
Just as he thought, Sofia spoke, "They might indeed be people I knew in the past, but I don't rember anything."
"I can't help you with this matter, can't share the burden with you."
Her mood was sowhat low, feeling ashad of her own inadequacy.
Seeing her like this, Herbert suddenly curled up his lips and smiled mischievously.
"Hehe."
Looking at Sofia, he asked playfully, "Have you forgotten sothing important?"
"Hmm?"
"You indeed forgot, that's an undeniable fact, but...can they still rember everything completely?"

Herbert's smiling counter-question left Sofia stunned. She asked dumbfoundedly, "You say, what? You an..."
Herbert nodded, smiling, and said, "After going through so much, do you think their mories are all intact?"
"No, not just you; everyone forgets, even I do."

People excel at rembering the good and forgetting the suffering they once endured.
