Now reading: Chapter 85 The Death of the Saintess (2/5) from Diary of Guarding Monster Girls, a Fantasy novel by Bahrain.

In the quiet Holy Hall, the boy tilted his head in confusion.

Herbert: ?

This is correct?

"...Everyone?"

"Everyone."

Sss...

Herbert took a sharp breath after receiving a positive response, feeling that he might have stumbled into the wrong scene.

Dear Saintess, is there sothing wrong with the script you have... wasn’t it supposed to be about the Holy Mother’s compassion?

Shouldn’t you use your great compassion to enlighten those traitors, and then put down the golf club and forgive them?

How did it beco "one breath, 3,600 revolutions, great compassion saves the world?"

Killing life to protect life, cutting karma, not people?

The Archbishop saw Herbert’s confused bewildernt, shook his head, and chuckled: "Child, you misunderstand, the Saintess is indeed compassionate, but she is not a fool."

"From the beginning, she knew better than anyone that love alone couldn’t save the innocent from the wicked."

"Only with great strength can those lost sheep recognize their mistakes clearly and be persuaded to return to the right path."

Herbert stood in awe.

Just like what the Three Burial Masters who claid to ’bury heaven, earth, and man’ said: if the benefactor doesn’t understand Buddhism, I also know a bit of martial arts.

When soone is unwilling to listen to reason, a bigger fist is the real reason.

He understood now.

This Saintess is not a mage but a warrior!

It even has to be classic chanics.

Kindness must have an edge.

"Just like the divine grace is as vast as the sea, and the divine might is like a mountain, these two seem different, but they are actually the sa, both being the suppression of the divine spirit over the mortal realm."

This explanation by the Archbishop could be considered blasphemy against the essence of the divine spirit, but Herbert felt it made a lot of sense.

Whether it is grace or might, it boils down to being the ans by which the divine spirits rule over their followers.

Thunder and dew, all are blessings from heaven.

"What happened later? What did the Saintess do after that?"

Listening to the story up till now, Herbert was genuinely curious about the story’s further developnt.

Such a powerful Saintess, how did she et her end?

Surely the divine spirit didn’t personally take action against her?

"Later..."

The Archbishop turned a page of the canon and continued his narration.

"After eliminating all the traitors, the Saintess angered the ancient Evil God and faced the furious assaults of the Evil God Church."

"The Evil God sent forth his claws, a Divine Favorer at a saint’s power level, three Holy Spirit Priests at epic power, and ten Holy Hall Knights at legendary power level."

As he spoke, the old man’s voice grew somber, seemingly foreboding the tragedy that was to unfold.

Herbert also fell silent.

This battle was bound to be incredibly challenging.

The power of this Evil God Apostle team was formidable; such a luxurious composition was enough to obliterate a kingdom effortlessly.

But just when Herbert expected to hear Saint Nenasha’s news of defeat, the Archbishop changed his tune, and with emotion he said:

"This battle indeed plunged the Saintess into difficult combat; she fought for three days and nights to eradicate all these apostles, chasing down the last deserter for another day and night."

"This speed was much slower than before."

Herbert: ?

"And then, after consecutively defeating these apostles, the Saintess spent another three years traveling in the mortal realm, personally destroying all the Evil God’s Divine Halls on earth..."

Herbert: ??

"Eventually, after uprooting the Evil God’s entire foundation, the Saintess ventured alone into the Divine Kingdom where the divine essence resided."

Herbert: ???

Hold on a minute!

The naive young man felt like his mind was about to explode.

It wasn’t the Evil God who acted against her; it was she who retaliated rcilessly against the Evil God?

Turning the tables!

What a peerless fierce girl?

Are all Saintesses this capable of fighting?

The Archbishop understood what shocked Herbert and caringly explained: "Actually, it’s not as exaggerated as you think."

"At that ti, the Ancient Gods had just awakened, and they were inherently weak. Moreover, with all the earthly churches uprooted, their authority domain was seized by the gods of faith, causing their power to drop another level."

The gods of faith struck too!

Gods are greedy.

Though they might not help Nenasha directly, they would never miss the chance to hit a dog when it’s down and share a piece of the pie.

They help whoever wins.

"Yet, even so, the Ancient God in that state was much stronger than a Saint, let alone residing within the Divine Kingdom, possessing an almost endless source of divine power."

"Normally, humans have almost no chance of defeating them; no one believed Nenasha could succeed."

Herbert cald slightly, aware that the story was nearing its end, asked: "And in the end?"

"Eventually, the Evil God fell, vanishing completely from the world, and their authority was wholly divided by the gods, making any revival unable to restore their forr power."

"And Saint Nenasha likewise disappeared, her figure never seen again."

The Archbishop squinted his eyes, sighed lightly, and waved to close the to.

Both perished together.

"But, how did she... achieve this?"

The difficulty of a mortal slaying a god is exceedingly high, yet not impossible; throughout history, the number of Godslayers exceeds two hands.

But perishing together with a divine spirit within the Divine Kingdom, he truly hadn’t heard of such a thing.

Dominating the spring?

"I did not witness the scene firsthand, but if I were to hypothesize, she likely assimilated herself upon entering the Divine Kingdom, forcibly transforming into one of them... engaging in a usurper’s battle for sovereignty over the Divine Kingdom from a god’s body."

"With shared origins, neither separated from the other. Ultimately, after exhausting all divine power, both t their demise together."

With this, the epic story of Saint Nenasha ended, all returning to tranquility, and the screen before Herbert faded away completely.

Yet, Herbert’s consciousness had not fully awakened from that story; he shook his head and whispered, "She truly possessed such great strength..."

This power, it’s truly remarkable!

The Archbishop sighed, feeling quite touched, reflecting: "Indeed, the Saintess at that ti, even compared to what I am today, might not be so different."

"She wouldn’t be much weaker than I am."

Herbert: ?

The boy’s eyes widened, looking at the old man next to him who blinked repeatedly, hesitating to speak.

The way you’re saying it implies... that you, sir, are even stronger than her!!?

Herbert profoundly realized the weight of the Archbishop’s title as ’Saint walking among the mortals’.

It’s no exaggeration, but praise that’s quite realistic!?

"...Then what happened later?"

You’ve told so much, but how does it connect to this statue?

Surely you’re not just giving a secret knowledge lesson here?

"And then... three hundred years later, when the shattered Divine Kingdom of the Ancient Gods erged from the earth, and the dissipating divine power turned a whole mountain range into mist, perpetually shrouded in His unresolved resentnt."

The old man turned to gaze at the blasphemous holy statue in the center of the Holy Hall, his voice filled with lant.

"Yes, Saint Nenasha died."

"But... she didn’t completely fall."
