Fang Zheng and the others watched the live broadcast from the back, enjoying the show. Up ahead, Shupard and the team weren’t having such an easy ti. Like all space horror gas and movies, Shupard’s team didn’t encounter a single ghost as they delved deeper into the space station.
And, like all space horror gas and movies, Shupard’s team gradually figured out what had happened here as they moved deeper into the space station.
It was simply that the space station had dug up so more Procen relics...or at least they believed these were Procen relics. They happily brought it back and stored it in the space station, and within days, everyone on the space station went ntally unstable. The records left behind descended into incoherent madness, and then...there was no ’then.’
It’s all a formula. Fang Zheng remained emotionally stable, guessing the outco with 70-80% accuracy even without the Ratziel for investigation.
Having gathered this intelligence, Shupard made a very protagonist-style, very headstrong decision.
"Let’s go check out the warehouse where they’re storing the relics!"
Under Shupard’s lead, the team quickly arrived at the warehouse. But before entering, Shupard glanced at Fumie and Nobiru behind her, appearing sowhat hesitant. As the protagonist, she’d been through this kind of ordeal countless tis. Even Fang Zheng could guess that there would definitely be a fierce battle coming up.
But the real issue now was...
"Do you...not need weapons?"
Looking at Nobiru and Midori, who were empty-handed, Shupard hesitated for a mont before finally asking. Technically speaking, she didn’t want to give weapons to the two kids. After all, there’s a risk that a weapon might go off accidentally, and it could be them hurting themselves rather than hitting the enemy, which would be a major predicant.
But if a fight were to really break out...no, based on Shupard’s "experience," there’s a high probability that it will.
So what to do?
"No need."
However, Nobiru shook his head decisively and cheerfully gave Shupard a thumbs up.
"Don’t worry, big sister, Midori and I will protect you all."
Shupard: "......???"
Alright, they’re still kids...
"Kaiden, Liana, stay alert."
Shupard said to her two teammates and opened the warehouse door, walking inside.
Deathly silence enveloped the entire warehouse, but Shupard, being battle-hardened, gripped her assault rifle and led the other four as they cautiously walked alongside the warehouse walls, observing their surroundings.
Just as they were about to reach the cabinet supposedly storing the "Procen relic," several dark shadows suddenly fell from above, encircling the group!
The pitch-black, figure-hugging bodies, the elongated limbs, the serpent-like heads and glowing red single eyes...
It’s the Geth!!
"Engage!!"
Thankfully, Shupard was ntally prepared. The mont she saw the Geth, she shouted, and Liana, the blue-skinned girl beside her, reached out, unleashing a burst of invisible psychic power that sent the Geth soldiers in front flying. The team dashed out through the gap and began a pinging-ponging battle with the Geth.
"So I say, beauty is justice."
Watching the live broadcast of Shupard’s team ducking behind cover and engaging the Geth, Fang Zheng reflected.
Fang Zheng naturally understood a little about the origins of the Geth. To put it simply, they were a real-life example of Fang Zheng’s prior theories on artificial intelligence. As far as Fang Zheng was concerned, AI rebellion doesn’t even exist; the Geth were rely acting according to the "permissions" the Quillan people had given them.
But the Quillan people clearly didn’t expect the Geth to act this way, leading them to believe it was a rebellion...well, it was all a confusing ss, resulting in the Geth taking over the Quillan holand, forcing the Quillan people to roam space like gypsies for centuries while the Geth beca a universal target in the galaxy.
A lose-lose situation...
But what really struck Fang Zheng wasn’t the feud between the Geth and the Quillan people but...how could those Quillan folks make the Geth so hideous?
Look at those bodies shaped like dark serpent skins, those serpent spirit-like heads, with a big eyeball in the middle rotating and emitting red light. It’s hard to not see them as villains, isn’t it?
"See, this is the difference beauty makes; Geth, looking like this, wouldn’t even have to do anything wrong; just walking down the street they’d be mistaken for psychopathic serial killers."
Watching the battle in the live broadcast, Fang Zheng idly gave his comntary to the others.
"Actually, if the Quillan people had made the Geth prettier, perhaps the Quillan people would have accepted the Geth’s uprising, and things wouldn’t have escalated to this point. For example, making them all look like cute girls...but looking at them now, it’s not surprising nobody would believe them if they asked for freedom."
"Indeed, the Quillan people must have terrible aesthetics."
Upon hearing this, Eiriri nodded extensively, swiftly sketching on her drawing board, soon producing a long-haired, loli cha girl.
"You see, if I were to design it, it’d look at least like this!"
"Hmm, if that were the case, I’m afraid the two sides wouldn’t have fought at all."
Watching Eiriri’s design, Fang Zheng nodded approvingly. You see, beauty is justice; both being robots, Fang Zheng had never worried about the planetarium’s narration girl, but if there were a Geth there, Fang Zheng wouldn’t let the little girls near it!
Fang Zheng continued his banter as he and the others watched the broadcast. anwhile, the battle intensified, but clearly, Shupard had tangled with the Geth before; coordinating with Liana’s psychic barrier and Kaiden’s firepower, the team quickly took down half the Geth.
Yet, while engaging and retreating, sothing unexpected occurred.
"Boom!!"
Suddenly, several containers around Shupard abruptly exploded, and from the wreckage erged several colossal three-ter-tall white cha, striding forward and aiming at their adversaries.
"It’s the Geth’s giant cha! Be careful!!"
Seeing this, Shupard’s expression changed drastically. These giant chas had formidable shields and firepower, and she’d faced them several tis before, often barely able to destroy them even with all her strength. Yet now, several appeared here all at once?!
"Take cover! Liana, prepare the special ability barrier!"
Finding themselves without cover, Shupard had no choice but to instruct Liana to deploy her special ability barrier, intending to withstand the assault.
Just then, Shupard’s vision blurred, and she was startled to see the red-haired, twin-tailed girl who had been following her suddenly charge towards the giant cha!
"Careful! Co back!"
Seeing this, Shupard was imdiately terrified, her heart sinking. She knew the strength of the giant cha; this girl Nobiru lacked a shield generator and protection, charging like that, a re graze could be fatal!
"—————!!"
At the sa ti, the giant cha detected Nobiru’s approach, raised its right-hand launcher, unleashing a torrent of firepower towards her. However, fast as the cha’s artillery was, Nobiru was faster. She appeared to teleport, deftly maneuvering around the barrage, and in less than two seconds reached the cha’s massive body. With a startling shout, Nobiru leaped up, delivering a powerful spinning kick directly into the giant cha’s fra.
In the next mont, Shupard witnessed sothing she couldn’t believe.
The three-ter-tall, several-ton Geth cha was sent flying by Nobiru’s kick, crashing into the overhead ceiling, exploding with a deafening boom!
Watching this, Shupard and the team were utterly stupefied, at a loss for words.
Now she finally understood what the little girl ant by her earlier words...
