What exactly has happened?
Molly looked in astonishnt at the pitch-black world in front of her, completely clueless as to what had transpired. Just a mont ago, she and her companions were pondering over how to thwart the Dark Elf’s ritual, but why had they ended up here the very next mont? Could this be the ritual of those evil Fallen?
"Molly!"
"What on earth is happening?"
"Where are we now?"
At this mont, the other elves also awakened. They stared blankly around, equally bewildered. Suddenly, a soft chuckle resounded.
"Hehehe, you all were sleeping so soundly. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could sleep forever...?"
"Who’s there!"
Hearing this voice, Molly shuddered and imdiately asked sternly. Soon after, she saw a girl twirling out from the shadow in front of her. She was wearing a dress that mingled red and black, seemingly human, with pitch-black shiny hair tied in two ponytails at the back of her head. Most striking of all, her left eye was like a golden clock dial!
"Who are you...?"
Looking at the girl before her, Molly felt faintly familiar with her. After a mont of staring, she suddenly realized.
"Kurumi?"
"Oh my, I never expected you would still rember my na..."
Hearing Molly’s words, Kurumi squinted and displayed a smug smile.
"You, what exactly is...?"
Molly definitely rembered Kurumi. Although those Dark Elves didn’t pay attention to these people, Molly did. As an elf herself, she had a naturally keen instinct. Despite Kurumi rarely appearing before these elves, Molly could still sense an extrely dangerous aura around her. Whenever she was stared at by her blood-red eyes, it felt like a venomous snake was creeping behind her.
"Who exactly are you? What do you want?"
Thinking of this, Molly also beca more vigilant. She signaled her comrades to gather around her while she asked cautiously. Hearing Molly’s inquiry, Kurumi giggled again.
"Is it really okay to talk like this to your savior? If it wasn’t for , you might have already beco spider food by now."
"Did you... save us?"
Upon hearing Kurumi’s words, Molly was taken aback and hurriedly inquired, to which Kurumi nodded.
"Of course, it was upon Mr. Fang Zheng’s orders. I am rely following commands."
"Paladin?!"
Hearing Fang Zheng’s na, quite a few elves imdiately cried out in joy. Upon witnessing this, Kurumi slightly raised her brow and flashed a mischievous smile.
"Did Lord Fang Zheng save us? Where is he now? And what is this place?"
"This is my domain. As for Mr. Fang Zheng, he is outside fighting the Spider Goddess."
While speaking, Kurumi pointed cheerfully overhead.
"My task is to keep you safe, so just stay here obediently until the battle is over.
"The Spider Goddess? You an, the Paladin is fighting the Spider Goddess?"
Hearing this, Molly was astounded. As elves, they had, of course, heard of the Spider Goddess, the dreaded enemy of the elves. That the Paladin was battling the Spider Goddess alone? It was downright reckless!
"Perhaps. In any case, Mr. Fang Zheng claid that this entity is formidable, and we are no match for her. Therefore, he decided to handle it personally..."
"We also wish to help!"
Hearing Kurumi’s response, Molly eagerly voiced her intent.
"It’s too dangerous for the Paladin to face the Spider Goddess alone. We must aid him... Please release us...!"
"I can release you, but..."
Saying this, Kurumi surveyed the elves curiously.
"What can you offer to help?"
"This..."
At this point, the elves were struck silent; their weapons had long been confiscated. Currently, they wore nothing more than thin, outer garnts. In such circumstances, offering help was indeed questionable. However... Molly seed to have a plan.
"We can summon the Guardian of the Moon God by offering our lives!"
In truth, this was also the elves’ prior-contemplated thod to resist the Dark Elves’ ritual. They could sacrifice their souls using this ans to summon the Guardian of their deity, the Moon God. Once the Guardian descended, it would easily thwart the nefarious rituals of these Dark Elves!
"Hmm... a good resolve, but unnecessary."
After scrutinizing the elves in front of her, Kurumi shook her head.
"Mr. Fang Zheng assigned the task of ensuring your safety, not sending you to your deaths. Besides, one re Spider Queen is not a problem for Mr. Fang Zheng."
"But..."
Despite Kurumi’s confident deanor, the elves weren’t inclined to let it rest, prompting Kurumi to roll her eyes before grinning wickedly.
"Alright then, let’s allow you to witness it firsthand."
With these words, Kurumi waved her hand, and the elves experienced a brief flash; the next mont, they landed on solid ground once again.
The sudden brightness made the elves, who had lingered in shadows for so long, instinctively squint. anwhile, earth-shattering sounds began to reach their ears. Reacting to these noises, the elves promptly opened their eyes and gazed toward the source of the sound. In an instant, they were flabbergasted.
Where is this place?
Standing on a high ground, gazing upon the ravaged city below, the elves were left speechless. They rembered when the Dark Elves escorted them here; the city was whole. But now... the city had beco nothing but rubble!
The enormous stalactite towers were utterly shattered, leaving nothing but debris within the city. And in its midst, a towering figure drew everybody’s attention.
"Spider Goddess!"
Beholding the imnse figure with the upper body of a Dark Elf and the lower body of a spider, Molly trembled. She was certain it was an incarnation of the Spider Goddess!
Had the Spider Goddess descended to the Lower Realm? What on earth was happening?
Opposite the Spider Goddess stood a small shadow. Compared to the ten-ter-tall Spider Goddess, this shadow seed tiny, but with the elves’ keen eyesight, they could see the shadow’s appearance clearly. It was...
"The Paladin?!"
Molly stared wide-eyed at Fang Zheng, who was hovering mid-air. Although his upper body was exposed and his hair had turned white, his face was unchanged. What further shocked Molly was that he evenly matched the Spider Goddess’s incarnation in combat!
"Roar—!"
The observing elves saw the Spider Goddess swing down her Hydra Whip; as she moved, the nine poisonous snakes forming her weapon lunged towards Fang Zheng. However, unfazed, Fang Zheng raised his left hand and pointed ahead. Instantly, a black, mirror-like, odd ripple materialized and struck the Hydra.
Witnessing the black rings impact, the poisonous serpents let out wails, and their massive bodies, as if drawn by an unseen force, spiraled into the circle, transforming into sludge in the blink of an eye.
Seeing her assault thwarted, the Spider Goddess roared, lifting her front legs to stomp Fang Zheng forcefully. But just as she was about to strike Fang Zheng, he suddenly vanished, reappearing behind her.
However, the Spider Goddess wasn’t idle as she growled, summoning countless spiders onto Fang Zheng’s position. They spewed webs while launching a tide of attacks toward him. Though Fang Zheng effortlessly eliminated hundreds of spiders with a flick of his wrist, more climbed over the walls, raining venom from above.
Oh no!
The witnessing elves were gripped with alarm.
Could the Paladin withstand such an onslaught?
Yet, as the anxious elves watched, they saw Fang Zheng slowly raise his hands...
