Chapter 341: Chapter 340: The Road to the Peak of Ice and Snow (I)

It goes without saying that with an elf leading the way, the journey beca much easier for Fang Zheng and his companions.

The most important thing was that they had acquired new ans of transportation.

Due to overcapacity and the firm refusal of everyone except the Astrologer to ride in Fang Zheng’s planetary landing vehicle again, the elves found them new mounts—goats!

Unlike the goats raised in pens on farms, these goats, which had grown up in the Forest of Life, were larger than even the average warhorse and were quite ta. Guided by the elves, these goats could easily leap through the mountain streams, sparing Fang Zheng and his group the trouble of climbing.

“If we just keep following this road, in half a day we will reach the difficult part of the Peak of Ice and Snow. From there, we need to go through a cave, then deal with so dwarves. If we can gain the dwarves’ approval and pass through the Ice Gate, we will reach the summit of the Peak of Ice and Snow,”

Walking beside the group, Molly explained with a smile, now fully devoid of the despair and pain she had shown earlier. Instead, she was filled with a unique elven vigor and appeared much more cheerful.

“I never imagined, Mr. Fang Zheng, that you are truly remarkable…”

Watching the spirited elf maiden hopping around, Fina couldn’t help but remark before curiously looking at Fang Zheng.

“Mr. Fang Zheng, how exactly did you do it? I have seen so victims rescued from the dens of goblins and orcs who were utterly incapable of responding, so much so that those poor girls had to end up in a monastery, where, through serving the Deity, they might find peace. So never leave there for the rest of their lives, yet you managed to bring them back to normal in such a short ti…”

“Uh… well, I have my own ways…”

Hearing Fina’s question, Fang Zheng twitched his mouth and didn’t quite know how to respond; he surely couldn’t say he had “fought fire with fire.” Truth be told, Fang Zheng was already feeling so regret, for in this elf girl’s eyes, he could sense a very familiar look. It was the sa look his girlfriend used to give him when they first started dating before his rebirth… Could it be that Molly had beco addicted to that wonderful experience they had before?

“May I ask what that thod is? If it could be implented in the Sanctuary, I think we could save more people…”

“No, this…”

Faced with Fina’s persistent questioning, Fang Zheng was at a loss for words. Fortunately, or perhaps it was the Goddess looking out for him from the shadows, just then, the goat they were riding suddenly stopped, and Molly quickly halted her steps and crouched down, carefully inspecting the ground.

“What happened? Is there a problem?”

Sensing the situation up ahead, Fang Zheng quickly wiped the cold sweat from his brow, then jumped down from the goat and approached Molly to quietly ask.

“Yes, Mr. Fang Zheng.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Molly nodded and then pointed up ahead—there, another pair of gigantic footprints moved up the slope and disappeared among the scattered stones.

“That is…”

“Those are Frost Giant footprints, but it’s strange, they usually don’t co this far.”

“Aren’t Frost Giants also found in the Peak of Ice and Snow?”

At that mont, the others also gathered around Molly. Hearing the elf maiden’s words, Hailien asked curiously.

“Then it isn’t so strange for them to appear here.”

“It’s different.”

Yet, in response to Hailien’s question, Molly shook her head.

“Frost Giants are called Frost Giants because they prefer colder environnts. This climate is comfortable for us elves and humans, but for Frost Giants, it’s rather hot. Not to ntion, the pathways here are all controlled by dwarves. If a group of Frost Giants recklessly ca down the mountain, those with big beards could cut off their retreat. Frost Giants may not be the brightest, but they wouldn’t seek their own death.”

“Could it be that it’s separated from its group, alone?”

“We can’t rule out that possibility…”

Hearing Fina and Molly’s conversation, Fang Zheng looked up and glanced at Nymph beside him, who shook her head.

“No findings around, Master.”

“I understand.”

After getting the response from Nymph, Fang Zheng nodded and then turned to the others.

“Alright, although we don’t know the origin of this footprint, it looks like we need to be extra cautious. Everyone, increase your guard to avoid any unexpected incidents. Miss Molly and Miss Katie, no need to continue scouting ahead, co back and be ready for combat. As for reconnaissance, leave it to Nymph.”

“Understood, Mr. Fang Zheng.”

“Got it.”

Following Fang Zheng’s order, the Elf maiden nodded and then took out her longbow from behind, vigilantly watching their surroundings. And next to her, although the air was originally empty, Katie’s voice could be heard, and then Fang Zheng could feel Katie’s presence silently passing by like a ghost—it seems that during their days in the Elf Village, Katie’s stealth skills had significantly improved.

However…

“Frost Giants… Goblins…”

Muttering to himself, Fang Zheng seed to think of sothing and once again looked at the Elf maiden beside him.

“Molly, is it always like this here… creatures running rampant?”

“This… it’s not like this, Mr. Fang Zheng.”

Molly wasn’t dense; she instantly grasped the underlying aning in Fang Zheng’s words. Recalling the events of that day, the expression on the Elf maiden’s face stiffened, but soon returned to normal.

“Usually, the Forest of Life is peaceful, but it is indeed strange… The animals that normally live here seem to have disappeared… Although now is the ti they erge from nests to forage, it’s… there should still be so signs of life.”

While it was unusual, the group continued cautiously moving forward, but as they advanced, the situation beca increasingly unexpected. For on the mountain path ahead, they not only saw the footprints of Frost Giants but also of Goblins, Gnolls, and Orcs—it was almost as if the notorious monster clans of the mountain region had all mobilized.

“What on earth is going on?”

At this mont, Molly also felt that sothing was amiss; it was as if all the creatures in the Frozen Summit Range had gone berserk. Could it be that they were planning to unite the Six Major Sects to attack the Bright Peak?

“This is bad, those Big Beards might be in trouble!”

Although Elves and Dwarves don’t have very good relations, the two races are more like “evil companions,” often bickering and quarreling. But if faced with an evil assault, they would still contact each other. Logically, if the Dwarves were attacked by so many creatures, they would at least send a signal to the Elves!

But why is there no response at all?

“We must head imdiately to the Monolith Tunnel! There might be trouble there!”

Under Molly’s lead, everyone quickened their pace, rushing forward along the mountain path. However, the farther they went, the worse Fang Zheng’s feeling grew, because along the way, Nymph’s responses were that there were no signs of life anywhere around, which ant… sothing was clearly not right.

As Fang Zheng had expected, when they arrived at the Monolith Tunnel under Molly’s guidance, the sight before them shocked everyone.
