Hearing Fang Zheng’s response, Josephka and Eileen were both struck dumb. They were not unaware of how terrifying this nightmare was, but...

"This nightmare is far more terrifying than you can imagine, outsider."

After a mont of silence, Eileen spoke again.

"It’s not just what you see on the surface; in fact, there are deeper secrets hidden behind this..."

"So what?"

Facing Eileen’s persuasion, Fang Zheng seed unconvinced.

"Although I don’t know what secrets this town hides behind it, what will happen if it continues like this? The Hunting Night will still continue, and then people will break down ntally, go mad, and die, just as we are seeing now. One after another falls down, turning into creatures. What else can we do? Sit here and wait until the very last mont to die? That’s not my style. Perhaps breaking through the Hunting Night might lead to bigger problems, or even more dangerous beings, but we can’t just do nothing..."

At this point, Fang Zheng glanced at Eileen.

"Or have you already prepared to hunt those mad hunters in this endless Hunting Night and wait until one of you finally perishes? What sense does that make? Excuse my bluntness, but from the previous fights, I think you are more likely to die before those madn. And even if you die, it won’t change anything."

"......"

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Eileen glared at him, while Josephka remained silent. Then, it seed as if she had made up her mind and lifted her head to look at Eileen.

"I think the outsider Mr. Zheng is right, Eileen. We have been running away, but...maybe it’s ti to change sothing."

"I don’t think he can do it."

But facing Josephka’s comnts, Eileen shook her head.

"You know, Dr. Yushefka, you know how terrifying the entity behind this nightmare is. It’s not sothing mortals can contend with. All we can do is this..."

"We will never know unless we try."

Fang Zheng clearly did not take Eileen’s advice to heart.

"We have to do sothing, and if possible, I still hope you can help . Even if we fail, only I will die. But if we successfully break through all this, then it will bring new hope to Anan, won’t it?"

"But it might also make things worse."

Eileen clearly disagreed with Fang Zheng’s words, and her tone beca more serious.

"Believe , outsider. I’ve been here a long ti, and I’ve witnessed countless things. Why do you think I hunt those mad hunters? It is my duty, my mission, and the most I can do for them. Death is not scary, it can even be said to be the real relief. When you can’t even die and are only trapped in an endless nightmare, in eternal pain, and an unspeakable curse, that is the real nightmare."

With that, Eileen turned and left.

"Do not let the blood cloud your vision, outsider. The Hunting Night is just the beginning... You have no idea what lies hidden behind it..."

Leaving these words behind, Eileen disappeared outside the door. anwhile, Fang Zheng watched Eileen’s vanishing figure and shook his head.

"I really hate those kinds of people."

"Mr. Outsider..."

Hearing Fang Zheng’s complaint, Dr. Yushefka seed sowhat flustered.

"Actually, Miss Eileen is not a bad person, it’s just that..."

"No, Dr. Yushefka, you don’t understand what I an,"

Fang Zheng waved his hand.

"Do you know who I hate the most? It’s those who think they’re the only smart ones and everyone else is dumb. She said I don’t know the secrets behind it all? Well, why doesn’t she just tell ? She neither tells nor lets know, yet still tries to stop ... Don’t you think there’s sothing wrong with her brain?"

"Uh......"

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s complaints, Yushefka also looked troubled, at a loss for words.

At this point, Fang Zheng paused, then looked at Yushefka.

"Dr. Yushefka, you wouldn’t do that, right? We’re all sensible people here, and clearing things up is better for everyone. Just don’t give that ’you have to seek it out yourself’ or ’the truth lies in the exploration’ nonsense. I’m not interested in running hundreds of miles and playing detective to figure sothing out that could be explained in minutes...."

"......That......"

Facing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Yushefka’s face turned awkward.

"I’m sorry, I can’t tell you much either, foreigner. After all, this is the Healing Church’s greatest secret..."

"Secret? The world is nearly destroyed, everyone is dying— who’s left to listen to this secret?"

Fang Zheng shrugged.

"Even if I knew, who could leave this cursed place? If I blared it through a gaphone down the streets, what then? Could I rule the world? Beco the king of Anan? It wouldn’t change a thing; those hiding would still hide, and the killing would go on. Or do you an to say that if this secret got out, things could get even worse than they already are?"

"......"

Hearing this, Yushefka was dumbstruck, and after a long mont, she gave a faint smile.

"Indeed... Foreigner, just as you’ve said, we foolishly guarded this secret, but now it seems, it all stemd from our selfishness. So, I’ll tell you, although to be honest, I don’t know much myself. Everything starts from the underground catacombs of Anan..."

In Yushefka’s narrative, Fang Zheng finally learned the secrets of the region of Anan.

Initially, this place was just a small town with nothing exceptional. However, within this town existed an organization called Byronvis Academy.

It sounds like a place composed of cultured people, and indeed it was. These people idled about, dreaming up all sorts of things, digging here and there. You’d think they might co up with sothing like Fermat’s Last Theorem that would contribute to human civilization, but unexpectedly, these folks didn’t co up with anything worthwhile. Instead, they accidentally stumbled upon ancient ruins beneath Anan.

So these idle academics with not enough scholastic rit imdiately turned into archaeologists, starting to study these ruins. They discovered that the ruins were left by an ancient civilization known as the Surians, and what surprised them more was the presence of unusual entities within the Surian ruins. There were giant beasts, mutated creatures, various secret technique docunts, and more...

A common country bumpkin would have turned and fled at the sight of such monsters. But the folks at the academy were all ready to die for their discoveries, eager to delve into the mysteries with reckless abandon!

Despite severe casualties during their explorations, the academy indeed managed to acquire quite so treasures. Among them, the most seductive was a technology purported by Surian records, which could apparently catalyze the "evolution" of humans into higher life forms!

Just like in every horror movie, Byronvis began enthusiastically studying and trying to acquire this technology—Fang Zheng truly wanted to ridicule them; if the Surians had truly succeeded, would humanity still have had a chance to rule the Earth? Probably not, right?

And as fate would have it, these old scholars actually managed to recover this technology. According to Surian records, the next step was to obtain "blessed blood" and then gain the power to communicate with the Ancient Gods.

So, like a scene out of a horror movie, William, the dean of the academy, gallantly volunteered to be the first test subject—Fang Zheng couldn’t understand why they didn’t use animals for experints. Maybe they feared that if they injected the Divine Blood into cats and dogs, and they actually managed to communicate with the Ancient Gods, the animals might complain, "These humans treat us like experintal animals, their conscience is terribly damaged, please Gods, exterminate them!" And with a snap of fingers from the deity, humanity could be wiped out?

Again, just like in every horror movie, after injecting the Divine Blood, the Dean felt as if he had taken Naobaijin: body felt great, food tasted fantastic, solving Goldbach’s Conjecture in bed as easy as drinking water and eating food. The Dean felt he was nearing the ultimate truth of the universe, and seeing their Dean transform overnight from talented to genius, the others couldn’t hold back either. Thus, Bayer Wokins Academy quickly transford into a blood bank, soliciting a large number of volunteers to be injected with "Divine Blood", thereby advancing the study of Surian civilization.

Then...... as per the usual course in every horror movie, excess led to disaster.
