Chapter 860: Max vs Jake
Max’s eyes narrowed dangerously as his grip tightened around the Blue Dragon Sword. The roaring fusion of his level 2 fla concept and level 2 sword concept surged once more, filling the air with blistering heat and razor-sharp sword intent. “Severing Flow Sword Art!” he roared, slashing downward with all his strength.
Jake t the attack head-on, his spear gleaming with sharp killing intent as it intercepted the strike. The two weapons collided with an ear-splitting crash, and a shockwave erupted outward, shaking the ground and scattering loose stones like leaves in a storm.
Both n were driven backward, their feet plowing deep furrows into the earth from the force of the clash.
But Max wasn’t finished. His sword trembled with energy as he invoked his next skill. “Magic Swords Barrage!” he shouted, his voice like rolling thunder.
Imdiately, the space above them shimred as thousands of radiant blue swords ford out of pure energy, each one laced with the power of his advanced fla and sword concepts. They whistled as they fell from the sky like a rain of divine judgnt, descending upon Jake with unstoppable montum.
Yet, just as the swords were about to annihilate him, Jake’s figure blurred and vanished from sight. In an instant, he reappeared a hundred feet to the left, completely unhard, his mocking smile unchanged. The thousands of energy swords slamd into the ground where he had been, detonating in violent explosions that sent waves of dust and shattered earth into the air.
Max’s pupils contracted sharply. ‘Even with my Three Dinsional Body, I didn’t catch his movent. That wasn’t teleportation… there was no fluctuation of space concept.’ His gaze sharpened, a frown creasing his face. ‘What kind of footwork is that?’
Jake, standing casually with his spear resting across his shoulder, smirked. “Haha, you look confused, Max. You should be. What you saw was my specialty—a movent technique known as One Step Mile. It’s not perfect yet, still at the beginner stage, but even so…” His eyes glead with arrogant pride. “Even soone at the peak of Legend Rank would have trouble surpassing my speed.”
“One Step Mile…” Max repeated under his breath, his expression darkening. This wasn’t just a fast movent technique; it was sothing extraordinary, sothing that tilted the balance of battle completely in Jake’s favor.
His brows furrowed deeply as the weight of the situation settled over him. ‘He’s faster than anyone I’ve fought so far… even teleportation wouldn’t be this seamless. This is going to be difficult.’
At that mont, despite the pressure Jake exuded, Max couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitent. His eyes briefly glead, not with fear, but with curiosity and hunger. ‘One Step Mile… what if I could master it too? What level would my speed reach then?’
The thought sparked a dangerous fire within him, and for a brief second, a subtle glint of greed passed through his eyes.
Jake, standing tall and arrogant, caught that fleeting expression and misinterpreted it as fear. A faint smile spread across his face, cold and mocking. “Max, you’ve surprised today. I didn’t expect you to have grasped not one but two level 2 concepts—fla and sword. Do you even realize what that ans? Looking at the entire Middle Domain, you’d be considered a top-tier genius, perhaps even surpassing so Heaven Grade geniuses. But…”
His smile widened, confidence dripping from his voice, “…unfortunately for you, none of that matters. Because today, you’re destined to die at my hands.”
Max’s expression darkened deliberately, his features twisting as if true fear had finally sunk into his bones.
He even stepped back slightly, letting his body tremble just enough to sell the act. Jake’s eyes flashed with disdainful amusent, a chuckle rumbling from his throat. “What’s this? Are you thinking of running away?”
Unexpectedly, Max shook his head slowly, his face still wearing a mask of fear, but his eyes flashed with sothing cold and hidden. “No,” he said quietly, his voice carrying a strange calmness. “I was just thinking again… whether I should kill you.”
“Hahaha!” Jake erupted into laughter, clutching his stomach in mock amusent. “Max, I thought you were smart, but I see now—you’re just another arrogant fool. You think you can kill ? With what?”
His face hardened with confidence, his tone full of ridicule. “You’re still only at the peak of Master Rank. Not even Champion Rank. You can’t touch .”
Max’s eyes hardened, the trembling gone in an instant, replaced by an icy sharpness. “Are you done talking?” he said coldly. “Because if you are… you can die now.”
Jake froze for half a second, surprised at the sudden change in Max’s tone, then burst out laughing again, his arrogance unshaken. “Co then! Show what you think you can do!”
Max gave no reply this ti. His answer ca from the Blue Dragon Sword in his hands. He raised it high, and instantly, his aura surged, flas and sword intent intertwining as one. With a sharp swing, his sword released a devastating wave of power.
The air trembled violently as a sky full of sword light blood in the void, filling the surroundings like a storm of blades. Even the flowers, the grass, and the very trees around him trembled and bent to his will, their essence drawn into the strike. They turned into countless phantom swords, all rging with the storm of sword energy, converging into a single catastrophic strike aid straight at Jake.
The sheer power behind it was enough to make the heavens rumble, as if the world itself was montarily cut apart.
Above Max, the sky itself seed to split apart as sword light surged like an endless ocean, converging into a single, colossal sword over three hundred feet long. Its edge radiated a blazing brilliance, sharp enough to make the soul tremble, while an overwhelming wave of sword whistles filled the heavens like the cries of a thousand blades.
This was still the power of Max’s level 2 severing sword concept, yet it was entirely different from his earlier strikes. This attack did not rely on sheer mana but on pure sword concept rged with the devastating skill, Magic Sword Excalibur.
Because of that, the strike’s power more than doubled, its sharpness and destructive force unmatched by his previous attacks.
