Chapter 1278: Chapter 1279: Convergence

“Interesting~”

At this mont, Feng Yuan happened to return with Xiao Ji, looking toward the direction the young man had departed and said with interest. Belusir frowned slightly, pondering the fate of the figure…

“Intertwined with Drochkar’s fate? Truly fascinating~”

Feng Yuan stroked Xiao Ji’s head and said with a smile, while Belusir flicked its tail, responding,

“But why, the ending turns out to be…”

“What you see is rely a destiny determined by current circumstances. Don’t forget, the future is constantly in flux. Besides, you can’t possibly see through the fate of the Divine Beast.”

Noticing that Belusir seed to be sinking into contemplation again, Feng Yuan glanced at it and remarked. Belusir flicked its tail again, refraining from ntioning the things it had seen. That ending was sothing it did not favor, but it wanted to test whether Feng Yuan’s words were indeed correct.

“Too bad the Wind Festival is over, and there’s no activity left. If only there were a hunting tournant or sothing similar.”

Looking at Xiao Ji with an eagle-like appearance, Feng Yuan casually comnted, to which Qi Chen rolled his eyes and exasperatedly said,

“Never mind where you’d find prey here, isn’t it rather odd for a flower-covered town to host such an event?”

Shrugging his shoulders, Feng Yuan didn’t offer any explanation. Little Ice Cream ran back and forth adorned with a wreath of white flowers, the wreath being sothing Feng Yuan had just crafted. Xiao Ji watched with envy and nudged Feng Yuan’s head. Scratching Xiao Ji’s neck, Feng Yuan chuckled and said,

“Alright, I’ll make one for you later. I’ll use a different type of flower though—just white ones are dull.”

Big Cat squeezed in pitifully and looked at Feng Yuan. Laughing heartily, Feng Yuan gave Big Cat’s belly a playful slap and said,

“Alright, let’s go see if there’s anything else to eat.”

“What’s wrong with it?”

Yang Hongzhi crouched down, puzzled as he looked at the massive Inferno Mastiff in front of him. The Inferno Mastiff was lying on the ground in a dejected state, occasionally scratching its enormous head with its paw. Najia floated over to the Inferno Mastiff and began talking to it, but the mastiff only responded with soft, sorrowful growls. After a while, Najia turned to the elderly man beside it and said,

“Is it… your Beast Tar companion?”

“No, it rely once guarded our town. Alas…”

Looking at the Inferno Mastiff, the elderly man sighed and said,

“We still don’t know the cause of its pain. We’ve consulted many doctors, but none could heal it.”

“You haven’t sought help from Spirit Beasts that can communicate?”

Yang Hongzhi asked sowhat curiously. After all, while Spirit Beasts capable of speech were rare, they certainly did exist. So were even capable of telepathy. With their assistance as translators, understanding the source of its suffering should be possible, at least.

“We tried, but it was futile. It couldn’t articulate anything itself—only that it had forgotten sothing important…”

Speaking softly, the elder looked at the Inferno Mastiff. Najia glanced at Yang Hongzhi and said,

“You stay here; I’ll go find Feng Yuan.”

As Najia darted off, Yang Hongzhi found it odd. What had suddenly happened to warrant such urgency?

“Hehe~ How does it look?”

Placing a flower wreath on Xiao Ji’s head, Feng Yuan said proudly. Agunas glanced at the mildly damaged flowers in the garden caused by Feng Yuan’s plucking and helplessly waved its paw. Rain of Life descended, restoring the flower bushes to their original lush appearance. Nearby guards witnessing the scene breathed a sigh of relief.

Although Feng Yuan had repeatedly assured them there wouldn’t be an issue, they had remained worried. Had Agunas not demonstrated its powers earlier, Feng Yuan could forget about picking flowers before them.

“So you were here~”

Najia floated over, grabbed Feng Yuan’s collar, and said,

“Co help out, will you?”

Seeing Big Cat’s disappointed expression, Feng Yuan gave Najia a curious look and asked,

“What’s the matter? What’s going on? Can you wait a bit? I want to finish making their wreaths first.”

Glancing at the wreath on Xiao Ji’s head and the crestfallen Big Cat, Najia hesitated for a mont and said,

“Alright, but can you hurry?”

“What’s going on that’s so urgent?”

While weaving wreaths, Feng Yuan asked, pondering. Najia was an auxiliary type of Divine Beast, and there shouldn’t be much it couldn’t handle by itself. Besides, with Agunas and others nearby, why would it co seeking him?

“The soul of a Spirit Beast seems to have been injured, and only you can treat it.”

Najia explained. As for Long Boduo? That one was a Netherworld guide whose Authority involved leading souls designated for the Netherworld to their rightful place. While it wasn’t incapable of soul-related intervention, healing was an unrealistic demand.

“Not Long Boduo? Fine, its Authority doesn’t align. But shouldn’t Agunas be able to do sothing?”

“Ti reversal would break mory continuity. Unless absolutely necessary, it’s not advisable. You know this better than I do.”

Agunas rolled its eyes and replied nonchalantly. Belusir, astonished, flicked its tail. Gazing through fate, it had already glimpsed the future. Curling in a corner, it murmured to itself,

“Who would have thought fate truly could change, but…”

“Was it solely because of him, or…”

“He might defy the rules, but isn’t he currently acting within them?”

Veronia picked up Belusir and held it close. Looking up at Veronia, Belusir asked in confusion,

“But he inherently shifts fate, bending it toward his will… I…”

“If that were entirely true, he wouldn’t act the way he does. There are things even he can’t accomplish. Spend more ti with him, and you’ll understand — even he has many regrets. As long as the ending isn’t hopelessly bleak, why not patiently await the future? Perhaps hope is just around the corner.”

Watching Feng Yuan as he wove flower wreaths, Veronia murmured softly, perhaps speaking to Belusir or just to herself.

“This Inferno Mastiff?”

Led by Najia, Feng Yuan arrived before the Inferno Mastiff and curiously studied the massive canine Spirit Beast. Xiao Hei, nearby, whimpered softly. Unsurprisingly, as an evolved form of the Fla Wolfhound, the reaction wasn’t out of place.

Taking out a pitch-black Ancient Book, Feng Yuan placed one hand on the Inferno Mastiff’s head for a mont and said,

“Its soul is indeed damaged. Unfortunately, it’s a rather tricky case—a sequela of forcing an uncontrollable Ultimate Move.”

“Back during the defense war, for the sake of our town, it truly…”

The elder beside them spoke softly, recounting the events of that year. Simply put, when the Inferno Mastiff was still in its Fla Wolfhound form, it appeared in this town during the war. In its efforts to defend the town, it unleashed the Purgatory Fury, an ability it could not fully control at the ti, leading to prolonged unconsciousness. This was the source of its current injuries.

“To forcefully unleash an Ultimate Move beyond one’s limits—it’s remarkable the Backlash was only this severe.”

Feng Yuan remarked knowingly, glancing at Xiao Ji. Xiao Ji, unimpressed by Feng Yuan’s gaze, chirped a few protests. It prided itself on not succumbing to Backlash from Ultimate Moves. While it wasn’t sure of its limits, it had tested itself and could easily unleash most of the moves within its grasp.

Feng Yuan shook his head, unwilling to argue further. After all, Xiao Ji was a Divine Beast capable of self-healing from all but the most severe injuries. Moreover, Divine Beasts were not without their own interconnected support network—if true ergencies occurred, other Divine Beasts could intervene and help.

“Can it be handled?”

Najia looked at Feng Yuan, her concern evident. Tossing the pitch-black Ancient Book into the air, Feng Yuan replied,

“It can, although it’s a bit complicated. I’ll need to prepare so ingredients first. Preferably, treatnt should be done using Potion.”

Although he could use the Ancient Book to treat it, it wasn’t the most appropriate thod. If any abnormalities arose, matters could beco problematic. Potions, on the other hand, offered a safer solution capable of resolving its injuries.

“What kind of ingredients?”

Before the elder could even speak, Najia asked directly. Agunas flicked its tail and said,

“I’ll help out too.”

Looking at the two Divine Beasts curiously, Feng Yuan began listing the necessary materials. After finishing, he turned to the elder and said,

“If you have any of these on hand, feel free to bring them over. Rest assured, I’ll prepare them on site.”

“No need to go through all that trouble.”

Agunas replied, tossing aside the book in its hand, opening a Space Gate, and diving straight in. Najia hesitated for a mont before starting to sing. In the quiet air, a breeze began to stir once more. Feng Yuan, left speechless by Najia’s actions, said,

“Do you have to go through so much effort…?”
