Capítulo 1669: Chapter 1670: Exploring the Labyrinth

“Hmm… I rember the chanisms here seem to point downward. Why don’t you try pulling it down?”

Feng Yuan, who was filming with a cara, thought for a mont and said. In his mory, the chanisms of this palace complex are mostly directed underground. The reason is simple: the teor Pavilion is below—where else would it go? As for concocting a bunch of strange puzzles?

This isn’t a special place like an ancient tomb. Not to ntion the stationed troops here; even for the teor Pavilion below, people need to enter occasionally. Making the chanisms too complex would only cause trouble for themselves.

Of course, Feng Yuan didn’t say this out loud. After all, isn’t exploration’s joy about discovering the unknown truth? He would never admit this is his twisted hobby.

“Downward? Why… Wait, I see, the teor Pavilion is below, so the chanism faces downward. I was overthinking it.”

Dou Yanlan was montarily stunned but quickly understood. This place isn’t one of those sealed areas never to be entered again. Although she didn’t know what purpose this place served for the Tianqiong Dynasty, based on what they’ve encountered so far, it should have been staffed with guards in the past.

If that’s the case, the chanisms here wouldn’t be set up too complexly. Doing so would lead to chaos if soone lost focus.

As she moved the handle downward, the ground shook, revealing a downward entrance before them. Qi Chen couldn’t help but stop Dou Yanlan as she headed towards the entrance, asking

“Yanlan, if we proceed down like this, it might not be safe.”

Turning to look at Qi Chen, Dou Yanlan smiled wryly and said

“It’s fine. This place isn’t just for storing teorites, right? People used to be stationed here, weren’t they?”

“You guessed it, but that was long ago. They stopped doing that during the Cangyun Dynasty, let alone later.”

Feng Yuan nodded while carrying the cara as he followed. As the three of them entered the passage, the entrance slowly closed behind them.

Much later, when other students ca to explore, the chanisms had all returned to their original positions. Seeing the marks on the ground, they simply assud soone had already explored here, and after a quick glance, moved on to explore other areas.

These careless students didn’t realize until the archaeological team collected the data and opened the entrance to the underground maze that the palace complex beneath the lake was only the outermost structure.

“There doesn’t seem to be much benefit here. Why did you bring us?”

In the underground maze, Dou Yanlan was carefully exploring ahead. She thought of sothing and turned to ask Feng Yuan. If the outer palaces might have been misleading, she was now sure this place was entirely prepared for the teor Pavilion. It wasn’t suddenly abandoned, which ans they couldn’t find much of value here.

Unless this was a relic discovered in the wild, then they could take the furniture and other items back to sell. But this was a site being excavated by an archaeological team, and they couldn’t take anything secretly.

Feng Yuan shrugged and said with a wry smile,

“Of course, it’s to gain experience. Actually, this is what a normal explorer would encounter. After all, many relics aren’t treasure troves. Otherwise, the Alliance wouldn’t allow discoverers to take valuables from wild relics without damaging their overall appearance.”

“Well… that makes sense.”

Stunned by Feng Yuan’s words, Dou Yanlan realized she was being a bit greedy. This was the normal scenario, and moreover, the place didn’t seem too dangerous. Most chanisms were within their capability. No wonder their teacher would lead them here—this was likely what they had in mind.

It was just that previously, Feng Yuan had taken her to many dangerous relics with abundant rewards, distorting her perception and making this place feel too modest. But even if they couldn’t take the furniture, rely assisting in capturing information about this palace complex for the archaeological team would earn them far more money than participating in school tasks.

“Is there any way to solve this maze?”

Feeling puzzled as they reached another fork, Qi Chen couldn’t help asking. They had been wandering for a while, and he himself had lost his sense of direction. But he believed that both Feng Yuan and Dou Yanlan were aware of their current location.

“Take a guess. Isn’t solving puzzles yourself the most fun?”

With a mysterious smile, Feng Yuan shifted the cara to the other shoulder and continued filming. Xiao Ji looked around in confusion. It felt there was sothing odd about the air—not poisonous or having a strange odor, but as if a special force was contained within it. It looked at Agunas seeking answers.

Unfortunately, Agunas hadn’t seen any information about this place, so it didn’t know what was special about it. But prompted by Xiao Ji, it carefully sensed the air and indeed found a special energy present—though the concentration was very low. If not for Xiao Ji’s sensitivity to energy changes, it might not have noticed.

Sensing carefully, Agunas felt the energy was strange but not threatening or effective toward it. After exchanging looks with Xiao Ji, it flipped through the materials, pondering before it looked at Feng Yuan in astonishnt and said,

“Does that thing really have such a function? But how is that possible?”

“I don’t know who made this thing, but according to the information you’ve given, that’s what it says.”

Feng Yuan shrugged nonchalantly. Veronia glanced at Agunas’ serious expression, not bothering to ask further, since it seed they would soon uncover the truth anyway.

“Is there a problem with this place?”

Qi Chen couldn’t help but look at Feng Yuan inquisitively, who absentmindedly shook his head and said,

“There’s no problem; it’s just that Xiao Ji might be disappointed.”

Confused, Xiao Ji let out a dissatisfied call. It had no idea what Feng Yuan ant by saying it would be disappointed. After all, it didn’t have any expectations for this place, right?

Only Agunas, knowing the truth, closed the book with a bitter smile. What Feng Yuan said seed to be factual, after all…

Seeing Feng Yuan playing mysterious again, Qi Chen didn’t pursue further. After all, if that guy wanted to keep secrets, there wasn’t much he could do. But Dou Yanlan seed to understand sothing and chuckled, saying,

“Does it have sothing to do with the teor Pavilion?”

“Sothing like that. Did you guess the truth?”

“Of course… not. But it’s quite easy to analyze. The previous areas we passed should have had no major anomalies or special features. Otherwise, Professor Li would have contacted everyone through the communicator. The underground maze we’re currently in should count as a defensive line. What’s left is probably just the deeper teor Pavilion, right?”

Saying this, Dou Yanlan continued leading the group forward following the clues she had discovered. She suspected Feng Yuan knew the layout of the underground maze, but since he hadn’t spoken up, it was clear he didn’t want to talk. No matter if he wanted to enjoy the show or had other motives, she thought directly asking wouldn’t yield results.

On the other side, Professor Li and his team, with the help of both teachers and students, had completed the initial overall data collection and found the main entrance to the underground maze. Seeing a maze below excited many students. After all, there were not many defensive chanisms in the lake-bottom structures, so as long as one was careful, there was no danger.

But to them, this failed to showcase their strong skills. However, leading teachers were not so relaxed, continuously warning everyone to barely keep their restless hearts in check. Unfortunately, when contacting those who hadn’t arrived, they learned that Dou Yanlan and her group had already entered the underground maze, which made many students unable to calm down and rushed into the maze.

If Feng Yuan hadn’t quickly supplented by saying the underground maze wasn’t too dangerous, Teacher Wu might have directly gone in to catch people.

“Even if it’s an underground maze, there’s not much lethality? What’s hidden below?”

Professor Li, upon hearing Feng Yuan’s warning, touched his chin in confusion, pondering aloud. If it were treasure, more dangerous chanisms would certainly be in place. But clearly, this wasn’t the case. Yet if it wasn’t treasure, it didn’t quite fit either. Thinking about it, he decided to continue forward. After all, whatever it was, the secret would be revealed upon reaching the end.
