Capítulo 1689: Chapter 1690: The Trap

“Since we received the patrol mission, we have to do it, especially considering that those guys might actually act against our expectations.”

Feng Yuan shrugged helplessly, those guys were able to evade Agunas’ investigations and leave no evidence. It’s possible that they might stir up trouble in places we wouldn’t expect, and Agunas obviously considered this possibility, narrowing its eyes to sweep its spiritual power around.

But soon, it recalled Quine’s peculiar nature and couldn’t help but transform into human form to investigate personally. Veronia watched Agunas’ peculiar situation with so doubt; what madness had the Little Crocodile gotten into now?

She hadn’t forgotten Agunas’ disdain for the human form, yet it suddenly appeared in human form this ti. Perhaps sothing happened that she was unaware of?

The human boy-like Agunas didn’t pay attention to what Veronia was thinking. When not using convenient thods, the original form wasn’t as handy as the human form. To avoid overlooking suspicious places, Agunas decided to conduct the investigation in human form.

The others weren’t aware of Agunas’ situation and rely marveled at the Divine Beast’s prowess, being able to transform into human form. Only Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan looked at Agunas in confusion, scratching his head, Qi Chen softly asked Dou Yanlan,

“Um… Agunas doesn’t seem to like the human form, so why does it now…”

“I don’t know, but it might have sothing to do with them.”

Dou Yanlan shook her head and said, she didn’t know much about Quine, after all, Feng Yuan hadn’t told them everything. With Quine naturally hidden in mist and only obtaining limited information, Dou Yanlan couldn’t analyze much.

However, seeing Agunas being so cautious, everyone couldn’t help but suspect there might be issues here. Even though Feng Yuan believed it was likely just a false alarm, he didn’t stop them, since it was hard to say what those guys could do. If they really ca out of nowhere, that’d be trouble.

Unfortunately, even after careful inspection of the area, they didn’t find any anomalies. Feng Yuan rubbed his chin,

“Seems like we were overthinking, but this is actually a good thing. As long as they don’t co to harm Maomu City, I’m too lazy to bother with it all.”

“You two seem odd, is there sothing you’re hiding from us?”

Veronia suspiciously scrutinized Feng Yuan and Agunas, feeling they might know sothing, Dou Yanlan glanced at Wu Xue and others without speaking. The matter of Quine was just her father’s speculation and couldn’t be casually revealed here. If they hadn’t been detected yet, great, but if discovered, who knows what might happen given their way of doing things.

Noticing Dou Yanlan’s peculiar expression, Veronia twirled her parasol without pursuing it further. It didn’t seem like a small matter? Never mind, this place isn’t appropriate for such discussions, seeing their cautious deanor, it likely isn’t a minor affair.

“Trying to seize power? Ha, this is truly amusing.”

Gladys glanced at the card she had drawn from the deck, speaking softly, since she had just joined the Great Xia citizenship not long ago. This kind of action didn’t include her involvent, though she wanted to find Mr. Yan, she was more concerned about the hidden hand behind it.

And the divination result was unsurprising, casually placing the card painted with a mass of black mist extending several tentacles, ready to devour a continent, onto the table. Anna glanced at Gladys and said,

“Unable to obtain accurate information, as if everything is shrouded by black mist.”

“The Dark Apocalypse, this card, is not easy to draw.”

Gladys shook her head and returned the card to the deck, Anna’s inability to obtain accurate prophecy didn’t surprise her. The Dark Apocalypse didn’t denote actual apocalypse but represented a terrifying man-made catastrophe.

In fact, if divination didn’t require completely accurate results, she might have co up blank, since the Dark Apocalypse card was mostly used to signify deeply hidden dangers in the future. Though that future couldn’t be divined, it would significantly impact reality.

Even without knowing its connection to Quine, Gladys still guessed this might be related to the Xingchan nations, since her recent divination was about an incident against Great Xia.

“Should I inform him?”

Anna looked at Gladys and asked. Thinking for a mont, Gladys shook her head and said,

“Forget it, I’ll check on him first. As for this… I believe he can surely sense sothing amiss.”

With a strange smile, Gladys picked up her weapon and set out with Anna. The Dark Apocalypse card left on the table suddenly sprouted black spots, which soon spread, engulfing the entire deck. Unfortunately, Gladys had already left and didn’t witness this scene.

Of course, even if she returned to find the completely polluted deck, she wouldn’t be heartbroken, because sacrificing a deck to determine one of Dark Apocalypse’s attributes is pretty worthwhile.

“Feels like we might be wasting effort, but… is this fluctuation intentional?”

Feng Yuan narrowed his eyes, speaking softly as he looked in a certain direction, just as he was about to return to school with everyone. Agunas flicked his tail and said,

“There was clearly no anomaly earlier, could they have hidden so well?”

“No, this should be the effect of the Ti Mist, but this Ti Mist isn’t quite normal.”

Feng Yuan furrowed his brows, having noticed what changes had occurred in the area; Ti Mist had already been understood. It was a reward given by the Data Domain to Spirit Beasts guarding the city, but the Ti Mist in that direction was unrelated to the Data Domain. Since the so-called Ti Mist from the Data Domain, was essentially just data extracted from the Data Domain.

But this area, if Feng Yuan wasn’t mistaken, was generated from Ti itself. In other words, so special thing leveraged Ti’s power to reproduce a past scene. Yet simultaneously, that twisted, malevolent force reminded him that that place was likely more than re reenactnt of the past.

“Seems risky enough, how about…”

“Splitting up, then rescuing after coming out? It’s not that troubleso.”

When he heard Veronia’s suggestion, Feng Yuan smiled at her, saying, although bringing Qi Chen and the others might be a bit troubleso, with due caution, it isn’t more dangerous than sending them back to school first. After all, this thing might very well be targeting them specifically.

Agunas flicked its tail without opposing Feng Yuan. It too felt the situation might not be so simple; the earlier examination of that place hadn’t yielded anything suspicious, so it didn’t believe it and Feng Yuan were truly unable to detect hidden devices.

This ant that those guys probably were watching them not far away, although it didn’t know the purpose behind creating this thing, a little thought could guess it likely wasn’t anything good.

“Was there sothing unusual there?”

Wu Xue looked at Feng Yuan in confusion as she asked. If not for his reputation and the presence of the Divine Beast, she might’ve suspected this junior was spouting nonsense just to gain her attention.

Dou Yanlan suspiciously looked in the direction Feng Yuan was observing, though the land hadn’t been re-solidified. The wreckage had already been cleared. Even as the sun was setting, she couldn’t discern any abnormalities there.

“You can’t see it by eye, that distinct energy is like wanting to be noticed, clicking your tongue, blatant traps are most annoying.”

Feng Yuan said, pursing his lips, he disliked such obvious traps the most. Although they seed avoidable, sothing bold was never truly ignored. If a trap hid crucial information, bypassing it could be troubleso.

Due to this troubling scenario, Feng Yuan particularly despised such open traps. His enemies, daring this, were either fools or deploying open strategies directly. Whichever case, he disliked lacking choice.

Sadly, no matter how vexing, he could only venture forth to examine the situation with Agunas and the others, since Quine’s affair was exceptionally strange. He couldn’t say whether external forces influenced everything behind it.
