Chapter 1696: Chapter 1697: Origins
Although it was impossible to make this place lively, Agunas hadn’t forgotten the main business. Long Boduo just glanced around for a mont before looking at Feng Yuan with a snort.
If it were the Yin World, doing sothing that defies common sense wouldn’t be impossible. Xilnais landed on the ground, glanced at Feng Yuan, and said,
“Shall we start now?”
“Yes, let’s try to find as many wandering spirits that might know the truth as possible. After all, this is sowhat disturbing their eternal rest.”
Nodding slightly, Feng Yuan spoke softly. Though the simplest way would be to summon all the deceased from the Endu incident, the consequences would not be so pleasant.
With a flap of its wings, Xilnais flew into the sky. Amidst the roars, ghostly blue flas descended from the sky, like falling blue petals. The flas burned quietly on the ground. Long Boduo curiously stepped on them, only to find that the flas seed like an illusory phantom.
Xiao Ji transford back into an eagle form, looking at Xilnais in the sky with confusion, not understanding what it was doing. Xilnais wouldn’t explain to Xiao Ji. Without Feng Yuan, neither it nor Eclipse would care about the chaos in the Yang World.
The ghostly blue flas burned quietly on the ground, looking from afar like a field of ghostly blue grass. The flas lacked warmth and even any sensation of contact, and even with Ghost-type Divine Beast power on Long Boduo’s hooves, it couldn’t interfere with these ghostly blue flas.
Just as it was about to speak, a light breeze blew part of the flas upward. The flas gradually coalesced into humanoid figures. Seeing the old military uniforms on them, Agunas wagged its tail and said,
“This seems to be Quine’s generals?”
It hadn’t expected that amidst the chaos, Quine’s generals would appear there. However, as the flas continued to gather, even Agunas was taken aback.
So many generals! Only now did Agunas realize that the Endu incident might not be so simple. These generals wore old-style Quine military uniforms, which had so peculiarities. At least, according to the current official archives, they should have been mbers of the Rebel Army.
Yet, to Agunas, their uniforms seed unlike what they appeared.
“You… we…”
A middle-aged male wandering spirit slowly opened his eyes, seeing the ghostly blue sea of flas and Feng Yuan standing before him. Lowering his head, he noticed his semi-transparent body and seed to understand sothing. With a light sigh, he raised his head to look at Feng Yuan and asked,
“I… we, were summoned by you, weren’t we? I believe they wouldn’t leave such a big loophole on purpose.”
“You seem to understand what happened. So, the Endu massacre really is related to certain matters?”
“Did you co for the Endu negotiations? So… is your purpose to ask what actually happened back then?”
“No, I’m not very interested in your matters. What I hope to know is, what exactly is Quine plotting!”
Narrowing his eyes, Feng Yuan stared at the wandering spirit and said. The other party remained silent, staring back at Feng Yuan without speaking. At this ti, the wandering spirits beside him also gradually awoke, but they remained silent, quietly watching Feng Yuan and the general.
“I need a guarantee. Although I don’t know what they’re doing, I hope you can promise not to let Quine be destroyed.”
“Heh, don’t you realize your words have already revealed a lot?”
Looking at the general, Feng Yuan revealed a strange smile and said. The other was indifferent and said,
“If that weren’t the case, why would you consider my proposal? I believe if I said nothing, you wouldn’t waste more ti on .”
“Mmm, there’s so truth to what you say. However, I can’t agree to your request. Although I don’t know if it’s Quine’s doing, that thing makes feel very uncomfortable. If necessary, erasing Quine from the river of ti isn’t impossible. You can consider this a threat.”
With a gentle smile, Feng Yuan spoke words that sent chills through everyone. Agunas didn’t think Feng Yuan was wrong. If sothing made him uneasy, it would be best for it not to exist. Whether now or in the past, every trace of its existence must be thoroughly erased.
After all, madn possessing Temporal Spirit Beasts always do things beyond the imagination of others.
“Your answer… is truly, peculiar…”
At this point, the general hesitated, not sure if Feng Yuan was rely trying to scare him. Unfortunately, both Agunas and Long Boduo knew very well that Feng Yuan was serious. He had no association with Quine, and if Quine’s existence threatened Feng Yuan’s ‘peaceful life,’ he wouldn’t hesitate for a mont.
“Alright… However, I hope you can help preserve so people from Quine as much as possible. They know nothing, yet got entangled in this mad action…”
“I don’t know if there are any who share our ideals surviving after the Endu negotiations, but I doubt it. Besides them, there are a large number of citizens who don’t know their purpose, nor do they know what those guys are actually doing.”
Looking up, closing his eyes, the general sighed and said. Without waiting for Feng Yuan to speak, he continued,
“Actually, I believe you already have so understanding of our plot. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be so radical as to completely erase a nation’s existence. If that matter is discovered, it might beco a reality.”
“What exactly did you do?”
Agunas felt a chill down its spine, looking warily at the wandering spirit. Even though the spirit had no power, it had beco sowhat terrifying in Agunas’ eyes.
“We… or rather, Quine’s ancestors, brought back a forbidden artifact, that purple absolute polluter. During the Shengjing Dynasty era, Quine’s ancestors discovered that ancient remnant, the special polluter, in Maojun. Since then, they’ve started a plan spanning millennia.
Initially, their goal was to use the polluter to eliminate all life except for Quine. After that, they’d eradicate the polluter, allowing Quine to completely occupy the continent without hiding in these forests,
yet, not everyone agreed with this insane plan. With the frequent ergence of Divine Beasts, they had to hide and plot slowly in secret…
With a long sigh, the general paused and continued,
This plan spanning ages needed to ensure it wouldn’t be discovered by the Ti Divine Beast. So, they changed the way records were kept. Even oral transmission wasn’t secure. They enlisted Spirit Beasts they had excellent relationships with to help preserve hidden scripts, and the archives recorded were altered.
To prevent any attempt to peer into the past through the river of ti, they used the polluter’s special attributes to disrupt the river of ti. Should anyone attempt such an act, it would trigger the polluter’s outbreak in the ti stream…
Listening to the general recount the layout across countless years, Agunas felt chills on its back. It never expected Quine had left so many arrangents, and Feng Yuan’s worries were entirely valid. Wait!
Recalling what Lorraine Tower intended to do, Agunas imdiately looked to that point in ti, only to find dark purple sli spreading and polluting the river of ti!
“Damn! How can that thing be undone!”
Agunas’ loud roar didn’t just stun the general but also left Feng Yuan montarily stunned before reacting. Lorraine Tower wanted to return to the past, aning they likely triggered their backup plan. So…
“Wait, I rember Maojun seems to be… the predecessor of Maomu City?”
Suddenly realizing sothing, Feng Yuan looked at the other party and finally understood why it seed familiar. Wasn’t that the sa thing that appeared during the Great Li Dynasty?!
With Feng Yuan’s words, Agunas instantly realized as well, looking at the general with anger and shock. It never expected that despite all of Lorraine Tower’s preparations, they still managed to stir up such a catastrophe.
That thing was never one humans could devise a thod to unravel!
