"So, you’re the core mber of the archaeological team, huh?"

The girl looked at Feng Yuan with a smile and said, spreading her hands. Feng Yuan replied helplessly,

"What else? I even found the key to the treasure vault at an auction. Never mind, I’m not going to chat with you anymore. I need to find sothing to eat; I’ve been wandering all morning and I’m starving."

"You? You don’t look like it. But I’m free right now, so how about I show you around this street? And about food, what kind of flavors do you like? I’m actually quite familiar with this street, you know~

Oh, I almost forgot, let’s introduce ourselves. I’m Xu Yaxuan, and you?"

"Feng Yuan. But do you really know which place here has the tastiest food? Today, I’m in the mood to try so uniquely flavored special snacks from Jin Sha City, those delicious foods..."

"Feng Yuan? That na sounds familiar. Hey! Are you doubting my expertise as a food strear?!"

"You’re a food strear too?"

Looking suspiciously at the other party, Feng Yuan felt the other person didn’t quite fit the part. But he didn’t say much about it. After thinking for a mont, he said,

"As for , it depends, I prefer sweeter things, bitter and spicy..."

Since Xu Yaxuan wanted to lead the way, Feng Yuan didn’t mind. On the contrary, Xiao Ji on the side let out a dissatisfied chirp. Feng Yuan chuckled and patted Xiao Ji’s head, saying,

"Let’s just settle for lunch, and how about you lead the way for dinner? But this ti, with so much ti to prepare, you better find a good restaurant. Money’s not an issue, pick freely."

Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Xiao Ji thought about it for a mont, then nodded in agreent with Feng Yuan’s suggestion. As there wasn’t much ti given earlier, Xiao Ji had only managed to find this comrcial street with the help of Big Cat. As for which specific store was better, Xiao Ji wasn’t clear.

Moreover, Xiao Ji also needed to take Feng Yuan’s preferences into account. Turning around, Xiao Ji scampered to Big Cat and began whispering to it softly.

Xu Yaxuan naturally didn’t expect the spirit beast Feng Yuan brought to have such quirky ideas. After listening to Feng Yuan’s requests, she said,

"Oh, I see. In that case, the local old brand ’Xun Xiang Ju’ might not suit you. Our local snacks tend to have heavy seasoning, which outsiders aren’t quite used to. However, modified with local features... seems like it would be ’Luo Ju,’ but their store isn’t here."

Saying this, Xu Yaxuan felt a bit troubled. Feng Yuan’s request wasn’t exactly high and was relatively reasonable, but the current issue was that this traditional snack street either offers truly local specialty snacks or overly modified, superficial specialty snacks.

All of these make it hard to et Feng Yuan’s needs. Of course, if you’re not seeking perfection, there are quite a few places here that et that standard, but for Xu Yaxuan, it’s hard to accept.

After pondering for a mont, she looked at Feng Yuan and said,

"Would you be okay with live streaming? If you are, I can tell the leader, and we’ll live stream taking you to Luo Ju. If not, I can also let you know where Luo Ju is. Their food should match your requirents the most."

"I don’t mind, but can you get leave?"

Unconcerned, Feng Yuan looked suspiciously at her. With a smile, Xu Yaxuan replied,

"Actually, we don’t have mandatory shifts. It’s just that all the teachers have been dispatched to patrol with no one left to teach, so we’re arranged like this. Just relying on us, how can we protect anything anyway?"

"Who says that? I’m a freshman at Maomu Academy, yet haven’t I already beco a core decision maker of the archaeological team?"

Feng Yuan said with a mischievous smile. Of course, he didn’t explain the specifics, so Xu Yaxuan just thought he was joking. After all, Jin Sha City and Maomu City are quite distant, even in Maomu City, not everyone knows or recognizes Feng Yuan’s situation, let alone Xu Yaxuan.

After asking for leave from her leader, Xu Yaxuan promptly started the live streaming equipnt. Once she finished communicating with the viewers in the live room, Feng Yuan curiously asked,

"How co from what you said, it sounds like you’ve never fild at Luo Ju?"

"Because there’s no need. Regarding local specialties, Luo Ju doesn’t excel because they have to accommodate the tastes of outsiders. If you ask to evaluate based on our local preferences, it’s passable, but not excellent.

And when it cos to suitability for outsiders, actually, different people have different tastes. Since you were able to state your preferences, you must realize that their approach is more suitable for those who want to taste the distinctive flavors of Jin Sha City without it being too unique. However..."

After a mont’s hesitation, she said,

"There are relatively few such custors. Ah, what are you guys comnting on? I’m not not taking you there because I forgot or anything; you really don’t need to try it. If we’re talking about photogenic dishes, Yan Hua Ju’s presentations are the prettiest, and the taste isn’t bad either. While it may not fully restore our local flavor, you guys did say you don’t like spices!"

Halfway through her sentence, she started addressing her viewers, to which Feng Yuan helplessly gave Xiao Ji a pat on the back and said,

"Shall we head out?"

"Ah! Sorry, sorry! I’ll lead the way right away."

Along the way, she briefly introduced so information about Luo Ju, and it was only then that Feng Yuan understood why this shop was elsewhere. It turns out the owner’s ho is there. Initially, as soone who married here from elsewhere, she wasn’t particularly accustod to the food here, but her husband had a soft spot for the local cuisine.

To accommodate her, her husband pretended not to like the local food. Naturally, this couldn’t be kept hidden forever. So she got the idea to research recipes that both could enjoy, and eventually, she succeeded.

Of course, since her family had a sizable plot of land in Jin Sha City, she decided to open Luo Ju to promote this nu. It’s said that she nad it with the aning of "a resting place," but the real reason is unclear as these stories are just rumors spread privately.

Although Luo Ju isn’t on this street, it’s not far. Just as Xu Yaxuan finished telling the tale of Luo Ju, they arrived at the entrance.

Looking at the elegant, antique pavilion, Feng Yuan scratched his head and asked,

"Is this place open today?"

"It should be, given it has a special clientele."

Xu Yaxuan said uncertainly as she stepped forward to push the door open. As the door opened, a cacophony of chatter reached them. Though the main door had glass embedded in thick solid wood doors replacing parts of the panels, they had clearly undergone soundproofing. Just as Feng Yuan was about to ask sothing, the clamor halted, and a surprised female voice ca from inside Luo Ju.

"Yaxuan? Aren’t you supposed to be patrolling the new street today? How do you have ti to co here? Don’t tell you sneaked out? You child, truly..."

"Hey, Aunt i! I got permission, okay! I’m streaming right now; let’s not talk about embarrassing stuff here, okay?"

"Are they... really open?"

Following Xu Yaxuan into Luo Ju, Feng Yuan curiously examined the pseudo-ancient building. Unlike the ancient buildings he had seen in other cities, here, although there were nurous glass elents for lighting, they weren’t large. Most of the glass windows were in the upper parts of the rooms.

Though sunlight could penetrate the glass, it made the place seem a bit oppressive for doing so. To avoid a gloomy vibe, the main hall greatly reduced internal decorations, concentrating them on the walls. The massive, solid wood dining tables were very spread out, and there was enough space between each seat to fit another set of table and chairs.

The pillars divided the space sowhat, but the decorations placed on these made them less conspicuous.

However, due to the windows and layout, the entire hall seed a bit dim. Yet, Feng Yuan knew this was the traditional architectural style of Jin Sha City.

After all, Jin Sha City is close to the Huerma Saha desert, and sandstorms occasionally sweep through from Huerma Saha to Jin Sha City, making their windows distinct from those in other cities.

In the era before glass, those common windows couldn’t withstand the sandstorms from Huerma Saha. The small skylights were possible because of the crystals.

Though glass didn’t exist, naturally occurring crystals could be polished to substitute for glass. The only issue was these crystals weren’t very large, which led to the prevalence of small window designs in Jin Sha City.
