Capítulo 1781: Chapter 1782: A New Discovery

The horizontal passage of the Yellow Sand Well is considerably more oppressive compared to the gemstone-shaped cave, with the narrow walkway relying on the wall for support, and the yellow sand slightly lower than the walkway surface. Feng Yuan estimated that if this place were operational, there might be a constant flow of yellow sand passing beneath their feet.

The cross-section of this passage was originally supposed to be triangular, but back when the Tianpan Nation was unaware of the actual situation, they built it as a circular passage. It was only later that the Golden Feather Dynasty took over and modified it, correcting its shape.

Unfortunately, much like the gemstone-shaped cave, the modifications added later by the Golden Feather Dynasty were destroyed over ti. Compared to the gemstone cave, this place was even more visibly damaged.

The stones around, half-buried in the quicksand, were likely remnants of the rock layers added by the Golden Feather Dynasty. Observing his surroundings, Feng Yuan thought that, if he hadn’t learned about the original structure from Veronia, even he wouldn’t recognize its original shape.

“It’s quite severely damaged.”

Feng Yuan said helplessly with a sigh, not understanding why the Golden Feather Dynasty’s renovations were much more fragile compared to the Tianpan Nation’s constructions. At least now, many of those later installed components were already damaged.

“Does this matter? We were only maintaining it as usual, without conducting repair work. After all, they thought maintaining its current state was enough back then…”

“If we want to conduct a detailed study of the ancient city ruins, this place will undoubtedly require repairs. However, the connection between this and the interior of the Kumasa Desert is still unclear. If there’s indeed a connection, there might be areas inside the Kumasa Desert that need attention.

Forget it, let them worry about these things. Just the repair of the Yellow Sand Well alone should be enough of a headache for them.”

Shaking his head, Feng Yuan remarked, realizing that repairing this place wouldn’t be easy. After all, the fallen rock layers had already suffered weathering and other damages, not to ntion the question of what technology to use to reassemble them.

Besides, they didn’t know how the Golden Feather Dynasty constructed these rock layers back then. If they used adhesives or similar materials, it might lead to structural abnormalities or even affect the subsequent passage of energy since this place should be designed as an energy passage.

A place like this likely has high structural requirents, but Feng Yuan didn’t know much about Kastantos’ technology and whether there were any specific precautions, so he was reluctant to get involved.

If they were truly interested in researching, they could ask Veronia for help. Of course, even if Veronia was unwilling, Agunas might be able to help, right?

Feng Yuan suddenly rembered that Agunas wasn’t particularly knowledgeable about Kastantos’ technology, and scratched his head, deciding not to dwell on the matter.

As they moved forward down the passage, Feng Yuan noticed the staff mber beside him appearing sowhat nervous, so he inquisitively asked,

“What’s wrong? Is there sothing ahead?”

“Uh, I rember the end of the Yellow Sand Well should be right at the place we just passed, so where did this new part co from?”

The staff mber responded with a fearful expression. Having worked there for so long, he knew precisely how long the Yellow Sand Well was. It was for this reason that he couldn’t understand where this additional section ca from.

Upon hearing this, Feng Yuan turned to survey his surroundings. This part of the Yellow Sand Well appeared no different from the previously passed area. However, upon closer look, he noticed the lights hanging on the cave walls were missing.

This matter should have been noticed initially, but because the lights were not operating and the illumination from Feng Yuan’s spark was not very bright, it took them a while to realize this anomaly.

“Strange, was this place non-existent at first? But since it’s currently in a paralyzed state, these chanisms shouldn’t have the potential to be accidentally activated.”

Scratching his head, Feng Yuan couldn’t understand what was going on. The staff mber beside him was even less inford, making it difficult for him to find soone to discuss the matter.

After so thought, Feng Yuan looked toward the darkness ahead and said,

“I plan to continue moving forward. If you’re scared, you can wait for here.”

“No need; if anything unusual does occur, maybe… I can detect it early? Besides, with such an event occurring, I’ll surely have to write a report when we return.”

The staff mber smiled wryly while releasing his Beast Tar. Feng Yuan noticed that the power of the man’s beasts was predominantly at the Elite Level. Considering his age, Feng Yuan speculated that this staff mber was likely not an ordinary person.

The staff mber felt a chill as Feng Yuan scrutinized him and asked, confused,

“Why are you looking at like that? Is sothing wrong?”

“Nothing, I rely believe that your ability doesn’t align with the role of a service worker. After all, having a bunch of Elite Level beasts without even a Rare Level one at your age isn’t sothing an average person can achieve.”

Feng Yuan stroked his chin with suspicion. As for whether the man was a sleeper agent of an opposing faction, frankly, even if all three of his beasts were Rare Level, Feng Yuan wouldn’t be worried. Not to ntion that Xiao Ji alone could handle the situation, and even if three Legendary Level beasts appeared, it would make no difference.

Upon hearing Feng Yuan’s words, the staff mber was montarily stunned and said helplessly,

“I’m not a host, you see. It’s just that we’re closed these days, so except for us managent staff, everyone else has gone ho for the holidays. If I could, I’d prefer to be on vacation, too. There’s really nothing appealing about being here.”

“Manager?”

“No, we don’t have the role of ‘manager’ here. The person in charge is the highest-ranking official here. Unworthy as I am, I happen to be one of those in charge.”

Puffing out his chest, the man said proudly. Hearing this, Feng Yuan pondered for a mont before saying,

“I see. But is there truly no record of this segnt of the Yellow Sand Well?”

“There truly isn’t, and I don’t think it’s related to lighting either. After all, we occasionally get lazy and skip using lights during night inspections, and I’ve been here for over two years; I’ve never heard any rumors about a passage without an end.”

Recalling carefully, the man explained that although he had been here for just over two years, if such an unusual passage had ever appeared, there would surely be rumors within their inner circle. However, so far, he hadn’t heard of any similar tales.

“So, this might be related to the ruins inside the Kumasa Desert, and those guys have already activated part of the ruins?”

Pinching his chin, Feng Yuan mused inexplicably. As for whether it could be due to other conditions, like only appearing in a dark dayti environnt or sothing similar, Feng Yuan didn’t think it was likely. Not to ntion, this place would have been noticed by the archaeology team if such changes occurred.

Initially, when this place was discovered, they didn’t set up extensive lighting. If there really was such a hidden passage entrance, it would have caught their attention.

“It’s quite troubleso indeed. Xiao Ji, be careful and don’t run around. Big Cat, keep an eye on Pomiti with Kong Qing.”

Turning to instruct Big Cat and the others, Feng Yuan focused entirely on the passage ahead. Could this uncanny passage really lead directly to the Kumasa Desert?

With this thought, Feng Yuan took out the black Ancient Book and began trying to pinpoint his current location, realizing he was still underneath Jin Sha City and that there was so distance left to the Kumasa Desert.

“Did you let it out to help?”

Watching the little fla wolf scampering on the ground, Agunas asked Veronia in confusion. Due to everyone’s constant running around, Veronia had kept it inside her World of Mirrors. She glanced at Agunas and rolled her eyes impatiently, saying,

“If you’re locked in the World of Mirrors for more than ten days, you’d probably feel stifled, wouldn’t you? But looking at it now, it seems to have recovered quite well, right?”

“It seems to have mostly recovered, but the exact situation is still uncertain. It might require Feng Yuan to take a look.”

Agunas flicked its tail and comnted. While it believed there was probably no issue, Feng Yuan was the one most qualified to speak on the matter, and it dared not say whether there were any hidden dangers that hadn’t been discovered.

“Speaking of which, he seems to have discovered sothing in Jin Sha City again. But I didn’t expect the Yellow Sand Well to be an energy passage.”

“What did you say?”

Agunas was startled. It wasn’t aware of what Feng Yuan was asking Veronia, and it had only co here because there was nothing for it on Quine’s side, so it sent an avatar to take a look. While Agunas was familiar with the risks of Kastantos, it had no idea there were other ruins within the city!
