Capítulo 1855: Chapter 1856: Pursuit and Return
Glancing at the continuously falling fireballs, Veronia snorted coldly and said,
“Perhaps it’s not a chase, but a ga of dodge?”
Ahead, the water flow beca turbulent, and the channel gradually turned into a river. Apart from the tal railings on both sides, it seed no different from a regular large river.
The small boat swiftly followed the current. Perhaps due to rocks below, although the flow headed forward, whirlpools occasionally ford, affecting the boat’s progress. This required Feng Yuan and Veronia to take turns controlling the boat to prevent it from spinning due to the turbulent undercurrents.
The troubles brought by these turbulent currents weren’t minor. The boat was often splashed, which was inconsequential to Feng Yuan and his companions but uncomfortable for Xiao Ji.
Flapping its wings, Xiao Ji chirped angrily. A gust of wind ford in front of it, striking the water surface to disperse the splashes. However, this action made the boat even more uncontrollable.
“Xiao Ji! Stop ssing around! Najia, help shield Xiao Ji with a barrier.”
Due to Xiao Ji’s actions, the small boat faced an unstable lateral force, forcing Feng Yuan to request Najia’s help, understanding well why Xiao Ji acted as it did.
Looking at Feng Yuan with confusion, Xiao Ji didn’t quite comprehend his reaction. Nonetheless, since Feng Yuan said so, it ceased using wind to strike the water.
Najia softly sang, enveloping Xiao Ji with a barrier that kept the splashing water outside.
“It’s finally starting.”
Noticing the occasional teors crashing into the river ahead, raising steam, Veronia smirked coldly. Without even trying, they knew being hit by a teor wouldn’t end well.
“I’ll go first, take over when I’m tired.”
Feng Yuan glanced at Veronia who nodded without objection. In such situations, it’s truly unsuitable for too many to control the boat; overlapping forces might prevent a tily dodge, and large conflicts between forces could even capsize the vessel.
After all, the water flow here wasn’t like before. Besides speed, many secret currents affected the boat’s stability, let alone confronting two conflicting forces on board.
As Feng Yuan took action, the boat’s speed surged again. The small craft swiftly raced past the undercurrents, splashing waves of water as the cold droplets soaked their barely dry clothes anew, while the passing wind made Yang Hongzhi shiver.
Protected by Najia’s barrier, Xiao Ji remained relatively unaffected. It looked up to the sky where teors were heading towards the small boat, and, glaring, flapped its wings. Black fireballs coalesced and shot upwards.
The teors clashed with the black fireballs, causing intense explosions, further complicating the water’s surface.
Perhaps Xiao Ji’s actions provoked them, as teors plumted more densely. Najia snorted softly and sang a powerful tune, stars converging as the flow transford into a star river across the sky. Under its mighty power, teors froze imdiately upon entering the star river’s realm.
Yet, as after Xiao Ji acted, this only made the teor shower fall even more joyously. Nevertheless, no matter how many teors fell, they posed no burden to Najia; Feng Yuan and Veronia only had to ensure the boat didn’t spin out of control in the river.
As for the few teors breaking through defenses, their numbers were so minimal that no one paid them any heed.
“Xiao Hei!”
Now, Yang Hongzhi noticed a leaping black-red figure among the teors and loudly called out to Xiao Hei behind him. Startled awake from its nap by Yang Hongzhi’s shout, Xiao Hei frantically peeked around but saw nothing unusual, darting to Yang Hongzhi’s side and rubbing its head cluelessly, letting out a puzzled whimper.
“It seems there’s an enemy, get ready with Xiao Ji.”
Yang Hongzhi gently pushed the canine head resting on his shoulder and said, while Xiao Ji had already spotted the black-red figure’s location. It screeched sharply, flapping its wings as black Death Storms surged towards the approaching entity. However, the Death Storm diminished against teors, and upon hitting the entity, only a peculiar whimper sounded.
Glancing at Xiao Hei, which was looking back at him, Yang Hongzhi uncertainly asked,
“Wasn’t that you just now?”
Shaking its head wildly, Xiao Hei refused to bear the bla. Veronia chuckled lightly, saying,
“Hellhound, or should I say Cerberus?”
Part of Xiao Hei’s evolution line was the Hellhound lineage. However, unlike Hellhound, Cerberus was not in Xiao Hei’s evolutionary path, and now that a Cerberus had appeared, Veronia was curious to see which would prove stronger.
“Cerberus?”
Yang Hongzhi was montarily stunned, just as the black-red creature leaped closer. Gazing at the massive monstrous dog with three grueso heads, Feng Yuan said disdainfully,
“This thing’s too ugly, and doesn’t even have smooth fur. Tsk, it’s all yours.”
With just one look, Feng Yuan recognized that the Cerberus wasn’t too strong—rely elite level, not much of a match for Xiao Hei and Xiao Ji. Even if there were several, with Veronia watching over, there was no risk.
Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Xiao Ji imdiately launched an attack on the ugly Cerberus. However, the Cerberus, much like a Spirit Beast, could execute various offensive ultimate moves. Flas crisscrossed in the air, Xiao Hei charged with fervor, unwilling to lose to a Cerberus!
While the first Cerberus quickly succumbed to the combined efforts of Xiao Ji and Xiao Hei, more Cerberuses kept erging. Their fiery breath, coupled with falling teors, heated the area imnsely; even the water flow beneath the boat ward gradually.
“Veronia, manage the temperature.”
Feng Yuan said while maintaining the boat’s stability and maximizing speed. Veronia cast an indifferent glance at the surrounding Cerberuses, snorting dismissively as she waved her hand, unleashing a cold storm over the scene.
Flas lted the ice and snow, yet the frigid mist devoured the fire’s heat. With Veronia’s intervention, the journey beca thrilling yet safe once more.
A gigantic pit erged ahead; this ti, the roaring water and colossal waterfall led everyone to wonder if they were transitioning to another map again.
Hugging Xiao Ji, Feng Yuan once more raised a barrier. With Najia busy protecting Yang Hongzhi, she couldn’t assist him, and as they neared the drop-off, the teor shower and Cerberuses vanished without a trace.
The massive impact sent waves crashing against artificial hills, revealing lush vegetation. Feng Yuan, astonished, surveyed the surroundings and remarked,
“Unexpectedly back here?”
Now, the surroundings transford into a neon-lit amusent park, with a platform not far away where a jesting clown stood, grinning wickedly. As the small boat returned, the clown vanished with a bang, leaving behind a peculiar gift box.
“Seems like it is. Ha, does this an if we’d chosen the rry-go-round earlier, it might’ve had strange changes too? How annoying.”
Veronia smirked coldly as she spoke. After the small boat returned to the platform, they imdiately disembarked, unwilling for another ride. Holding Xiao Ji, Feng Yuan sighed and said,
“If there are more troubleso things like this, it would indeed be annoying.”
“What can we do? We can’t forcibly break the rules.”
With a shrug, Veronia seed helpless, unable to shatter the Abnormal Space’s rules forcibly since doing so might cause a collapse, leading to significant issues.
“Let’s hope there’s nothing too cumberso and botherso ahead.”
Shaking his head, Feng Yuan approached the gift box, knowing it might contain either bizarre hazards or upcoming essential tools. Pondering for a mont, he placed Xiao Ji behind him and said,
“I’ll open it.”
Glancing at Feng Yuan, Veronia had no objections; aware of his strength, she knew he was the most suitable to handle such peculiar items.
