Lin Mo rubbed his chin. It seed she was serious about making an impact right away. Not that he had any doubts. Yu Qingyan wasn't the type to waste ti.
He sent a quick reply.
[Lin Mo: Sure. Call through the Distributor Interface.]
A mont later, the translucent interface vibrated silently as it opened a translucent communication window, showing Yu Qingyan seated in her chamber at the Verdant Sky Pavilion.
He was surprised. As it turns out, it was a videocall!
On the other end, Yu Qingyan also appeared to be astonished upon seeing Lin Mo's face.
Her composed expression faltered as she imdiately tried to fix her slightly disheveled hair and robes.
"Shopkeeper Lin," She greeted with a small blush on her face.
"Distributor Yu, you looked great." He replied, mirroring her formal tone but adding a hint of playfulness in his voice.
She sighed. "Must you call that?"
"It has a nice ring to it, or should I just continue calling you Miss Yu?"
"That… That's much better."
"Alright, Miss Yu. What do you need to be clarified?"
With a hint of satisfaction peeking on her lips, Yu Qingyan started. "First, regarding stock acquisition. The system allows to request inventory directly, but are there limitations? For example, if I need a large quantity of a specific product, will there be a cap?"
"For now, the stock you can request will be limited based on your distributor ranking. You can check it on the [Distribution Restriction] subnu. You start at the lowest rank, which ans you can only request moderate amounts per batch. As you complete successful trades, the system will grant you higher privileges, allowing for larger shipnts and priority access to more products."
Yu Qingyan nodded thoughtfully. "Understood. That brings to my second concern. Pricing. The system sets a base price, but am I allowed to adjust it depending on the region? So places may be willing to pay higher, while others may need a more accessible price."
Lin Mo nodded approvingly. He just realized. He hadn't thought of how much the prices could be adjusted when transported to another region. The cost that Yu Qingyan would incur for transporting the store products would be high. But in his understanding, the jade token would also give her the ability to access spatial storage that would hold the store products.
There's not going to be any inconvenience of coming to the store and loading boxes onto her prepared carts and wagons.
She could travel alone if she needed to but I doubt she'd do that. The point of having a caravan was to publicize that she was a rchant bearing products from far away. In this realm where the internet or any type of dia that could easily disseminate information was nonexistent, doing it that way was the most effective.
"Yes, you have so flexibility. The system suggests an optimal price range, but as the distributor, you can adjust within that margin. However, excessive inflation or underselling will trigger a penalty. We don't want anyone exploiting the system unfairly. I trust Miss Yu understood that."
Approval flickered in Yu Qingyan's eyes. "Fair enough. Then, lastly… potential competitors. While many will seek to cooperate with us, there will undoubtedly be those who see us as a threat. Have you considered how to handle sabotage, theft, or even direct intervention from larger factions?"
"I was waiting for you to bring that up. Honestly? I expect resistance. So sects and noble families won't like the idea of a single store dictating market trends. And once they realize our products are shaking up entire industries, they might try… aggressive negotiations."
Yu Qingyan exhaled and then smiled. "That's putting it lightly. So might outright move to suppress us. But Shopkeeper Lin, you made the right choice to pick as your Official Distributor. As the Emissary of the Verdant Sky Pavilion, our reputation can be my shield. No one will dare attack our caravans except uninford bandits."
"That's what I was counting on. Your connections and backing will give us a strong foothold, at least in the beginning. But we can't rely on reputation alone. If soone does get bold enough to interfere, I assu you have contingencies?"
Yu Qingyan's expression turned slightly more serious. "Naturally. I've arranged for security personnel to accompany the first trade run. Elite cultivators and disciples from our pavilion who can handle trouble if it arises. But more than that, I plan to make strategic alliances along the way. The first regions we expand into will be ones where we can secure either influential partners or loyal custor bases before moving deeper into contested territory."
Lin Mo couldn't help but be amazed at her thoughtful preparation. If it was him in her position, he probably wouldn't be as thorough.
"Alright, Miss Yu. You seem to have a solid plan. For now, focus on making the first trade run as smooth and profitable as possible. If there are any obstacles, let know imdiately. I'll see if the system has any solutions we can use. Don't hesitate to call like this too."
There was a slight tremble in Yu Qingyan's expression from hearing that last part. But as always, she managed to compose herself, ignoring the heat rising in her cheeks.
"Understood, Shopkeeper Lin. Then I will proceed as planned. May you have a good night."
With that, the call ended, Lin Mo glanced at Xiao Ya, who had been quietly listening to the whole ti, her eyes filled with fascination.
"Boss Lin, you really think big, huh?"
"Not really. I'm simply doing my work."
Xiao Ya grinned. "Don't be humble now, Boss. I'll work even harder so I can keep up!"
After a while, Liu Xiaoyu and Yangyang called them to the employee's lounge for dinner.
But as Lin Mo was about to follow them, another notification popped up in front of him.
