Ling Zhenfei was sowhat distracted, yet he did not want to disturb the three people's enjoynt.
While listening to the three discuss the planning of the mountain resort, Ling Zhenfei's mind was on the matters of Qiulian Mountain and the Killer Building, pondering what tomorrow might bring.
As it was getting late, Ling Zhenfei suggested driving Yang Zixuan back since the resort was not yet built and staying overnight in the mountains posed a troubleso issue.
Yang Zixuan did not decline, and Ling Zhenfei drove her and Bai Ling back.
The car jostled along the mountain roads, with the two girls asking questions all the way, yet there was little conversation between them. Ling Zhenfei watched and of course understood the reason behind this silence, but it was not his place to say it outright.
However, Yang Zixuan suddenly asked Ling Zhenfei, "Big Brother Ling, do you have a house in the city?"
Ling Zhenfei was unsure what Yang Zixuan ant and shook his head, "I don't have a house in the city, I haven't had the chance to buy one yet."
"Then are you going to drive back tonight?" Yang Zixuan continued to inquire.
Bai Ling was also curious, not understanding what Yang Zixuan was getting at.
"I won't be coming back tonight. I'll find a hotel for Bai Ling to stay in, and I'll just find a place to crash for the night.
Yang Zixuan laughed, "Big Brother Ling, why go through all that trouble? Why don't you stay at my place tonight? I have an extra room in my rented house."
With that said, Ling Zhenfei and Bai Ling finally understood what Yang Zixuan ant.
Bai Ling quickly said, "Sorry, I'm not comfortable living with others; I prefer to stay in a hotel. Ling Zhenfei, let's go stay at a hotel, okay?"
Ling Zhenfei was taken aback, as Bai Ling's statent certainly invited misunderstanding; anyone unaware of the situation might think they were going to book a room together.
"I think staying at Zi Xuan's place is not a bad idea. You two will have many collaborations in the future and should get to know each other better. If you don't want to stay with others, that's fine; I can sleep on the couch."
Since Ling Zhenfei had put it that way, Bai Ling had no good excuse to object, and they soon arrived at Yang Zixuan's residence.
Yang Zixuan's place was quite nice, a two-bedroom, two-living room house with a spacious kitchen, very comfortable for one person to live in.
The room was spotlessly clean, a testant to Yang Zixuan as a hardworking and tidy girl.
Bai Ling had no qualms about making herself at ho, took out a laptop from her bag as if by magic, and began browsing the latest news online.
Yang Zixuan acted more like a caring brother, pouring water for both and continuously tidying up the already clean house, seemingly never satisfied.
"Nothing beats the comfort of ho. How about this: you guys rest for a bit, and I'll cook a couple of dishes for us. We can just make do at ho," suggested Ling Zhenfei.
"Big Brother Ling, let do it instead. You rest; it doesn't feel right making you work in my own ho," Yang Zixuan quickly offered.
Ling Zhenfei pushed Yang Zixuan back onto the sofa, "You just wait. Not many people have had the chance to eat als I cook."
Seeing Ling Zhenfei's insistence, Yang Zixuan could only agree and sat on the sofa waiting, her heart fluttering with uncertainty about what kind of al Ling Zhenfei might produce.
Yang Zixuan's kitchen was an open one, and although she pretended to watch TV, she glanced back from ti to ti, ready to help out as needed.
Despite it being his first visit, Ling Zhenfei moved with ease, quickly checking what was in the fridge.
It was evident that Yang Zixuan really did cook often; the fridge was stuffed full of items, and there were plenty of ingredients for cooking.
Ling Zhenfei thought for a mont about the dish he wanted to cook and found the ingredients he needed in the fridge.
While he was chopping vegetables, Bai Ling started a conversation with Ling Zhenfei, "Big news, hey. Big news."
"What big news? Let's hear it," said Ling Zhenfei as he continued chopping.
Bai Ling looked at the computer and said, "It's about the actress Xu Yuyu – she's pregnant. She went to the hospital for a check-up and got snapped by the paparazzi."
Ling Zhenfei was taken aback when he heard this, thinking it was so major news. He hadn't expected it to be about Xu Yuyu's pregnancy, a matter about which no one could be clearer than him – after all, the child was his.
"Oh," said Ling Zhenfei with apparent indifference.
You don't seem surprised at all. Xu Yuyu, marrying an old man so much older than she, and now she's pregnant. It's nothing short of a miracle. I even doubt who the child's father is," Bai Ling remarked in a manner that suggested she enjoyed stirring up drama.
"You shouldn't talk so carelessly. What's wrong with being older? In the entertainnt industry, there are plenty of examples of older husbands with younger wives, and many of them have kids. There are even so with twins..."
Ling Zhenfei was worrying about how to respond when Yang Zixuan had already started arguing with Bai Ling. He hadn't expected Yang Zixuan to know so much about the entertainnt industry, silencing Bai Ling with her knowledge.
"You don't believe it? Just wait and see. When the kid grows up, if they look like him, that'll be proof enough," Bai Ling, never one to back down, imdiately retorted to Yang Zixuan.
Ling Zhenfei found the exchange amusing but by this ti, he could no longer hear what the two were saying; his mind was filled with images of Xu Yuyu.
Thinking about the phone call Xu Yuyu had made to him, Ling Zhenfei's emotions were indeed mixed. There was no doubt the child Xu Yuyu was carrying was his; he just didn't know how she would deal with the rumors and gossip.
Without dwelling on it, he continued cooking, and soon Ling Zhenfei had fried five dishes.
When he finished cooking the last dish and had stewed a soup, Ling Zhenfei was surprised to find that Bai Ling and Yang Zixuan had already co to the front of the kitchen, staring hungrily at the dishes in front of the open kitchen as if they were about to drool.
Seeing this, Ling Zhenfei allowed himself a slight smile.
"If you two are hungry, just take it to the living room and eat. What are you waiting for here?" he said.
Yang Zixuan and Bai Ling each picked up a dish and brought it to their noses to sniff.
Yang Zixuan exclaid in surprise, "Big Brother Ling, did you really cook these dishes?"
"Didn't you see cooking them just now?" Ling Zhenfei feigned surprise.
Yang Zixuan savored the scent and said, "No, no, no, I an, the dishes you cook are too good. Why do they sll so delicious?"
"Yeah, it's truly unexpected that you have such skill. Are you sure you're not really a chef instead of a big star?" Bai Ling Ye chid in with her unique brand of praise from the side.
"Don't worry about that now. As long as you find it delicious, that's what matters," Ling Zhenfei said as he placed the dishes on the table.
"There's also a soup, and then our al will be complete," Ling Zhenfei said, glancing at the soup on the stove.
"We can't have such good food without wine. I'll go get so," said Yang Zixuan, clearly excited as she ran to her room and quickly returned with two bottles of red wine.
"I've been saving these bottles for a long ti. Today's a happy day, so let's drink them," she declared.
Bai Ling was equally thrilled, and the two of them started opening the bottles of wine and began drinking with Ling Zhenfei.
