Ling Zhenfei said, "Then I'll leave it all to your arrangent."
Ru ng led Ling Zhenfei farther forward, coming to a place with less vegetation coverage. The area was overrun with underbrush rather than large trees that block out the sun, and they could even see a vast expanse of the sky.
Ling Zhenfei said, "I think this place looks good, how about we camp here and rest for the night?"
Originally, Ling Zhenfei thought this was a very nice spot, but to his surprise, Ru ng shook her head and said, "If you want to die, then we can camp here."
"What do you an?" Ling Zhenfei asked in surprise.
But Ru ng did not answer and continued walking until they reached the foot of the mountain.
This was Rocky Mountain, covered with nurous erratic boulders and dense undergrowth. Amidst it stood a solitary large tree, very conspicuous as there were no other trees around it.
Ru ng looked at the tree and said, "Not bad, this will do, we'll stay up in this tree tonight."
Ling Zhenfei was slightly taken aback as this was sowhat different from what he had in mind, for staying up in a tree in the forest was definitely not a wise choice— too many forest animals could climb trees; it was absolutely unsafe.
However, Ru ng often frequented this forest, and her words surely had a reason. At this point, he could only trust what Ru ng said, though he kept wondering what exactly Ru ng was up to.
Ru ng walked to the base of the large tree, looked around at the base, and Ling Zhenfei followed her, only to see a circle of yellow material around the base.
Seeing this yellow material, Ru ng seed very pleased, reaching into her bag to pull out a small pouch, and walked a circle around the large tree with it.
The pouch contained the sa yellow material, and as she walked, she spread it around the large tree.
"What's this?" Ling Zhenfei asked curiously.
"This is Insect Repellent Incense. Any wild beast or insect will avoid this sll. You're lucky to have found today; this tree is one of my hos."
After finishing her explanation, Ru ng turned to Ling Zhenfei and said, "Follow ." Then, with a surge of Northern Spiritual Energy under her feet, she lifted off the ground from the base of the tree, touched the tree trunk lightly with her hand, and propelled herself up several ters.
The trunk of the large tree was over ten ters tall, and Ru ng reached a thick branch above after a few ascents and descents.
Ling Zhenfei, not to be outdone, also gathered a burst of Northern Spiritual Energy and leaped upwards, though he couldn't ascend over ten ters in one go.
In mid-air he stepped from his left foot to his right, using the Wudang Sect's Cloud Ladder Leap to gain a few more ters, finally reaching the tree above. Only upon arriving did Ling Zhenfei realize that this tree hid its own unique world.
The huge tree was wide enough to be embraced by several people, and its crown was astonishingly large. What Ling Zhenfei hadn't expected was that there was a large hole in the trunk.
This big hole was absolutely invisible from below the tree, only visible once up in the tree.
"Did you dig this hole?" Ling Zhenfei asked in surprise.
Ru ng responded proudly, "Yes, how about it? Isn't it excellent and very secluded? Plus, there are absolutely no bugs attacking up here, so rest easy."
By this ti, the sky had gradually darkened, but this great tree was a commanding height around, allowing them a distant view of the nearby Pile of Rocks, the distant trees, and the moon just rising in the sky.
The two sat on the wide trunk, ate a bit of food, and chatted casually afterwards.
Ru ng said, "Practice your martial arts well tonight, and make sure you don't go down the tree. Don't shout if you see sothing surprising. If you make any noise, I can't guarantee what will happen."
After finishing her words, Ru ng walked into the large hole in the trunk and sat cross-legged to start her cultivation.
The large hole was likely designed by Ru ng herself. Although it was spacious enough for her alone, it was a bit cramped for two people.
Ling Zhenfei very considerately sat on the broad trunk and began his cultivation.
The Northern Spiritual Energy inside Xianling Mountain was more abundant than in other places. Ling Zhenfei used to cultivate inside the Heaven-Dropping Essence Marrow, but this ti, he was cultivating outside, experiencing the energy of Xianling Mountain.
As he cultivated, ti passed quickly. The moon seed to co just above Xianling Mountain, making the ground lit up snowy white, and at that mont, Ling Zhenfei suddenly heard a noise nearby.
Being in such a place, Ling Zhenfei couldn't help but be cautious, so he stopped cultivating and looked around with his eyes.
This look was quite startling for Ling Zhenfei; there wasn't any change in the tree, but down below at the pile of rocks, an amazing transformation had occurred.
At that mont, countless animals appeared on the pile of rocks, both large and small, all making worshipful gestures toward the moon in the sky.
So of these animals looked up at the moon, and with an open mouth, they spat out a sparkling pearl. The pearl hovered in the air for a few seconds before the animal sucked it back in.
Ling Zhenfei imdiately understood that these small animals were here practicing, absorbing the essence of the moon to refine the pearls inside their bodies.
This was the first ti Ling Zhenfei had seen such a legendary scene; he was so astonished that he almost cried out. Fortunately, recalling Ru ng's warning, he covered his mouth with his hand and didn't make a sound.
"Are you very surprised?" At that mont, he heard Ru ng's low voice. He didn't know when, but Ru ng had also stepped out of the tree hollow.
Below, on the pile of rocks, too many wild animals had gathered. With many animals spitting pearls at the moon, the pearls glowed under the moonlight, emitting a significant brightness.
"The moonlight is very good tonight, so many creatures have co out to cultivate," Ru ng explained to Ling Zhenfei.
"The pearls they're spitting out are the so-called Beast Pearls, right?" Ling Zhenfei asked curiously.
Ru ng nodded, "Exactly, those are Beast Pearls. Cultivating Beast Pearls can enhance their abilities."
The two of them quietly watched, the flickering lights below resembling the stars in the sky, very beautiful. So many animals cultivating together also illustrated that the Northern Spiritual Energy of Xianling Mountain was indeed abundant.
At that mont, a look of panic suddenly appeared on Ru ng's face, and then she quickly pulled Ling Zhenfei into the tree hollow.
"Don't make a sound."
Ru ng whispered in Ling Zhenfei's ear, and he didn't struggle; both of them hid inside the tree hollow, but the space was so narrow that they were pressed tightly together.
Ling Zhenfei felt the warmth of Ru ng's body and could sll a different fragrance from her, though not like any perfu. Instead, it was sowhat dicinal.
"What is this fragrance on you? It slls so good," Ling Zhenfei asked in Ru ng's ear, enjoying it.
"Don't talk!" Ru ng quietly scolded.
Ling Zhenfei had no choice but to remain silent, but the two of them were indeed too close in the tree hollow, and Ling Zhenfei could even feel the elasticity of Ru ng's skin.
