"Wu Yingxiong is dead, Wu Yingxiong is dead."
The people outside were just ordinary soldiers, either ruffians or street punks, all recruited by Wu Yingxiong. Upon hearing the news of Wu Yingxiong's death, they naturally felt a mix of emotions.
"Wu Yingxiong is dead, hurry to the treasury, rob the money."
"Don't anybody rob, we should share it."
"Share my ass, the money's mine."
Many followed Wu Yingxiong for the money; as a tycoon and local emperor, his dark businesses spread across the country, which naturally ant a lot of money, enough to buy weapons and even think about ambushing the old Maozi.
Without a doubt, that money was certainly in this base, possibly even in a nearby cave.
The entire cave was in chaos in an instant, the whole cavern boiled over, the noise pierced the heavens.
Ling Zhenfei looked at the cultivators in the room, unsure of what they intended to do.
Qu Changsheng glanced at Yue Lei, then at the cultivators nearby, "Don't just stand there, maintain order! Wu Yingxiong is dead, but we must continue operations. How dare you try to grab the money; this is lawlessness."
Other cultivators did the sa, saying sothing to the people around them, and both groups went to maintain order.
"Not bad, kid, to have killed Wu Yingxiong; I really underestimated you," said Qu Changsheng to Ling Zhenfei.
At this mont, a group opposing Qu Changsheng spoke up, "Qu Changsheng, let's not talk about anything else for now. Shouldn't we have a proper discussion between the two of us?"
Qu Changsheng looked at the man opposite him and replied, "Mo Long, what's there to discuss? As the Great Elder, with Wu Yingxiong dead, this place naturally falls under my managent."
The man nad Mo Long, with his towering stature and booming voice, also a cultivator in the middle to late stage of the Zhiyi state, laughed as he looked at Qu Changsheng, "Qu Changsheng, who acknowledged you as the Great Elder? I certainly haven't."
"Mo Long, the mont Boss Wu dies, you refuse to recognize the position of Great Elder. What are you trying to do?" Yue Lei had a fiery temperant and imdiately beca angry.
Mo Long's people refused to show weakness either. Both sides' tempers flared, and it seed that they were on the brink of starting a civil war.
Just as the situation was about to escalate, suddenly, gunshots rang out from outside. A single shot was followed by more, becoming increasingly frequent until a gunfight erupted.
Ling Zhenfei didn't need to guess to know what was happening. It must be the conflict sparked by the rush to grab the money. These people all had guns, many were cultivators who respected no one, and for money, they started shooting.
Once the first shot was fired, a second was sure to follow, quickly evolving into a gunfight.
"Not good, Boss, those outside have started fighting," a cultivator ran in to report to Qu Changsheng and Mo Long.
"What happened?"
"Fighting over the money, the gold! Those guarding the warehouse opened it, saw the gold inside, and chaos broke out, everyone firing. It's a ss."
"Issue my order, kill anyone who continues to loot."
"Yes, I understand." The man ran back out.
Ling Zhenfei knew this was certainly futile. Initially, Wu Yingxiong held control here, serving as their pillar of support. Now with Wu Yingxiong dead, no one could contain them, hence the inevitable chaos.
Ling Zhenfei watched Qu Changsheng and Mo Long with the deanor of soone enjoying a good show, curious to see how the two would cope.
Mo Long, who clearly held a long-standing grudge against Qu Changsheng, now addressed him, "Qu Changsheng, just now you dared to issue an order. I'd like to know what gives you the right."
Qu Changsheng's face showed a hint of contempt, "Mo Long, I know you've had an opinion about ever since I beca the Great Elder, but let's set that aside for now. The killer of Boss Wu is here; shouldn't we kill this kid first?"
Ling Zhenfei's heart stirred; he hadn't expected Qu Changsheng to once again draw the fire toward himself.
Both Qu Changsheng's and Mo Long's people all turned to look at Ling Zhenfei, and from their looks, it was clear they ant no good.
At that mont, Ling Zhenfei knew he couldn't stay silent any longer, or they would start taking action.
Ling Zhenfei said with a smile, "I find it strange, Elder Qu, that at a ti like this, the top priority doesn't seem to be killing ."
"What do you an?" Qu Changsheng asked.
"With everything in such chaos outside, if you don't act to stop it soon, I reckon there will be no one left alive, and all the money will be robbed. And now, you still haven't figured out who the boss is after the death of Wu Yingxiong."
"Even if you decide who the boss is in a while, what good is it to be the boss with no money and no people? Right now, the most important thing is to quickly decide who the boss is and stabilize the situation."
Naturally, Ling Zhenfei's aim was to incite mutual slaughter between Qu Changsheng and Mo Long, but his words did strike a chord in both of their hearts.
"You all go and suppress them quickly, Boss Wu is dead, but there's still , Boss Mo," Mo Long said to his people. They hurried out of the room to suppress the situation.
Qu Changsheng also ordered his n to follow suit; only three people remained by the side of each of the two n.
"Shouldn't we discuss who will be the boss now?" Mo Long said to Qu Changsheng.
Qu Changsheng shook his head, "I think we should kill these two first, to avenge Boss Wu."
At that mont, the sound of gunfire outside beca even more intense, and explosions could be heard. Soone had started using grenades, shaking the entire corridor.
Ling Zhenfei shook his head, "I say, you two bosses, you can't suppress those people without showing up. Look, they've even started using grenades."
Of course, Ling Zhenfei was afraid of Qu Changsheng and Mo Long targeting him, which is why he said that.
"Kid, don't think I don't know what you're trying to do. You're afraid that we'll deal with you, so you say such things," Qu Changsheng said with a cold laugh.
Ling Zhenfei laughed, "I'm telling the truth. Why would you want to kill ? It makes no sense at all. You should be thanking for killing Wu Yingxiong, right?"
"Thank you? Are you out of your mind? Why should we thank you?" Mo Long asked.
Ling Zhenfei laughed, "Isn't it obvious? Without killing Wu Yingxiong, would you have had the chance to beco the boss? Now that Wu Yingxiong is dead, your opportunity has arrived."
Mo Long and Qu Changsheng were taken aback; they had no close ties with Wu Yingxiong, rely a superior-subordinate relationship. Indeed, Wu Yingxiong's death didn't really equate to a loss for them.
Then another cultivator ran in from outside, bleeding, "Elder Qu, it's bad! Our brothers and Elder Mo's n are fighting outside."
Qu Changsheng was stunned at that mont, and so was Mo Long. They hadn't made any moves yet, and their subordinates had already started fighting each other.
Both of them snorted coldly and rushed out with their n, leaving Ling Zhenfei and Phoenix behind in the room, no longer paying them any attention.
Just as Ling Zhenfei had said, they indeed had no reason to kill Ling Zhenfei. Going through the risk of killing Ling Zhenfei for the dead Wu Yingxiong was very unwise. No matter whose n were injured, they would be at a disadvantage in the competition for the position of boss.
Ling Zhenfei looked at Phoenix, "How are you doing now?"
Phoenix smiled, "I'm fine now, but you sure have a way with words, managing to talk them into leaving."
