The Monk and Daoist shook their heads furiously. They would rather die than face that Tier Four Demon Beast again. It was a suicide mission. They had been lucky to escape last ti, and they certainly wouldn’t be so fortunate a second ti.
However, despite their vehent protests, Lin Yun remained steadfast. He still hadn’t obtained the Ghost Fruit. If what Qing Zhu said was true, it was most likely within the Tier Four Demon Beast’s territory, along with her family’s Supre Treasure.
"Don’t you want the Ghost Fruit anymore?" Lin Yun asked.
At the ntion of the Ghost Fruit, the Monk and Daoist fell silent as expected. But only for a mont. They shook their heads again. "Young Master Lin, the Ghost Fruit is a wonderful treasure, but a Tier Four Demon Beast is sothing we’re completely powerless against."
"That’s right. We’d better not provoke it."
For once, the two of them suppressed their greed, a testant to the deep-seated fear the Tier Four Demon Beast had instilled in them.
"A Tier Four Demon Beast is terrifying, sure, but we aren’t going there to fight it to the death. Our only objective is to find the Ghost Fruit. Relax, I’ve already co up with a good plan," Lin Yun said with confidence.
Hearing this and seeing the confidence on Lin Yun’s face, the Monk and Daoist hesitated. From the looks of it, Lin Yun really did seem to have a way.
After agonizing over it, they were finally swayed by Lin Yun’s persuasion and nodded in agreent. The Ghost Fruit was just too tempting; even Primordial Ocean Realm experts would be moved by it. However, Lin Yun didn’t notice the cunning glint that flashed in their eyes the mont they agreed.
That night, Lin Yun didn’t reveal any details of his plan to the Monk and Daoist, only telling them to follow his arrangents. He gave them a large supply of Healing dicine, even handing them each a Spring Breeze Soft Rain Pill.
Lin Yun claid it was just a precaution, and the Monk and Daoist, having received so much Healing dicine from him, happily accepted it all.
The next morning, Lin Yun had the Black-striped Tiger and the Iron Armor Beast remain in the cave. He set out with only Little Ape, the Monk, and the Daoist.
This trip to the Tier Four Demon Beast’s territory was primarily for the Ghost Fruit and Qing Zhu’s family Supre Treasure. The Black-striped Tiger and the Iron Armor Beast would only be a hindrance.
Led by the Monk and Daoist, Lin Yun’s group of four arrived at the edge of the Tier Four Demon Beast’s territory. After scanning the area and confirming it was safe, Lin Yun stepped inside first.
The Tier Four Demon Beast’s territory was vast, and there shouldn’t be any other Demon Beasts inside—unless, of course, they had been given permission. After all, Tier Four Demon Beasts could already speak, possessed high intelligence, and many would even take Tier Three or Tier Two Demon Beasts as subordinates.
Along the way, they were all extrely cautious, constantly watching for any movent in their surroundings.
According to the Monk and Daoist’s description, this Tier Four Demon Beast was a Heaven-Swallowing Python of imnse power. Its only weakness, if it had one, was its slightly slower speed.
This was exactly why the Monk and Daoist had managed to escape its jaws the last ti.
In the mouths of the Monk and Daoist, this Heaven-Swallowing Python was a godlike entity. It had a hundred-ter-long body and could spit a black mist that blotted out the sun, truly possessing the power to swallow the heavens.
"Hey, you two, why are you walking so slowly?" The deeper they ventured, the slower the Monk and Daoist beca, until they had fallen far behind Lin Yun and Little Ape.
"Young Master Lin, we’re... we’re tired," the Daoist stamred, forcing a smile that was uglier than a grimace.
’Tired? Tired my ass. You’re just scared,’ Lin Yun thought with a sigh. These two, despite having the Combat Power of geniuses, were complete and utter cowards.
The only ti they ever displayed that genius-level Combat Power was when there was treasure on the line.
Lin Yun kept urging them forward, but it was no use. They trailed behind him, and from the looks on their faces, it was clear they were already having second thoughts about the whole venture.
"I really don’t know how you two managed to cultivate. You’re so cowardly, yet your Combat Power is so high," Lin Yun muttered to himself.
"Young Master Lin, courage and Combat Power aren’t directly related. Besides, we’re not being cowardly. We’re being self-aware," the Monk retorted.
"Self-aware? I’ve never heard anyone describe being scared to death so... eloquently. I’m just..."
The path of a Martial Artist was one that defied the heavens. Every true powerhouse had clawed their way out of mountains of corpses and seas of blood. Only those who faced danger without fear, remaining calm and composed, could beco a peerless expert of their generation.
After they had traveled several more miles, Lin Yun suddenly felt an overwhelming aura closing in on their group. This presence had already surpassed that of a Primordial Ocean Realm expert.
"It’s here! It’s here..." Sensing the aura, the Monk and Daoist instinctively turned to bolt, but Lin Yun blocked their path.
"Will you two show so backbone?" he barked.
Held back by Lin Yun, the Monk and Daoist’s faces went pale. A few monts later, a hundred-ter-long Giant Python crashed through a towering tree and appeared before them.
"You two again?" The Heaven-Swallowing Python’s gaze landed on the Monk and Daoist, its triangular eyes filled with thick killing intent.
Seeing that escape was no longer an option, the Monk put on a fawning smile. "Master She, I, this humble Monk, admire you so much! Ever since we last parted, my awe for you has been like a surging river, endless and unceasing..."
The Monk’s words tumbled out, his flattery making the Heaven-Swallowing Python sound as if it were on par with a Divine Dragon.
"Silence," the Heaven-Swallowing Python bood, its massive head darting forward as its forked tongue flickered. It hadn’t co to listen to the bald man’s bootlicking.
"I let you escape last ti. Today, there will be no getting away," it said coldly as its cavernous, blood-red maw slowly gaped open.
At this sight, the Monk and Daoist were already poised to turn and flee. They had never been interested in Lin Yun’s plan; from the very beginning, the pair had a sche of their own.
Besides, the two of them had no concept of loyalty. If Lin Yun couldn’t handle the Heaven-Swallowing Python, the Monk and Daoist would absolutely be the first to run.
Facing the Heaven-Swallowing Python’s intense killing intent, Lin Yun’s expression remained perfectly calm. He was already prepared.
With a flash of his Space Ring, a Forbidden Artifact appeared in his hand. While Zhong Lin’s Forbidden Artifact was unlikely to harm the Heaven-Swallowing Python, Lin Yun had his own agenda.
He gave Little Ape a silent glance. Of everyone here, only Little Ape knew his entire plan.
Seeing the signal, Little Ape took the Forbidden Artifact and, with a single leap, landed on the Daoist’s back. The Daoist, his eyes fixed on the Heaven-Swallowing Python, didn’t even notice Little Ape climbing onto him.
’The mont the Heaven-Swallowing Python attacks,’ the Daoist thought, ’I’ll use Lin Yun as a shield to buy so ti. Then I can either escape or go look for the Ghost Fruit. I’m not about to show that kid any loyalty.’
The Monk was thinking the exact sa thing. The two of them exchanged a look and gave a slight nod.
’If not now, when?’ was the shared thought. They would let Lin Yun act as a shield while the two of them searched for the Ghost Fruit and other Spirit Grass, then make a clean getaway.
