Now reading: Chapter 316: Servant Disciple Life from Divine Emperor Demon Emperor, a Eastern novel by Cold Without Wind.

The Flawless Palace was located in a place called the Flawless Waters, a famous lake in the Eastern Domain. Its most stunning feature was the vast central island that sat in the middle of the lake.

The Flawless Palace itself was built on this island. The island’s total area was probably as large as ten of the Yanhuang Country’s Capital Cities. This was the main base of the Flawless Palace, where one hundred thousand of its disciples lived and cultivated.

The servant disciples lived on the easternmost side of the Flawless Palace, which was the most rudintary part of the entire sect. Following a Steward, Lin Yun arrived at the servant disciples’ area.

There were twenty thousand servant disciples in the entire Flawless Palace. These twenty thousand people were the servants who took care of the daily needs of everyone in the sect.

After handing Lin Yun over to a Steward in charge of the servant disciples, the first Steward hurriedly left. Not even Stewards were willing to co to the servant disciples’ area.

"This is where the servant disciples of our Flawless Palace live," the Steward explained to Lin Yun as they walked. "Every one hundred servant disciples are divided into a group, with a dedicated Steward in charge of them. Every day, you have tasks you must complete. Only after you’ve finished can you cultivate and eat."

According to him, the servant disciples had daily tasks, such as cleaning, washing clothes, cooking, and so on. Only after completing the tasks at hand could they cultivate and eat.

As for the Stewards of the servant disciples, they were actually just older servant disciples. Their aptitude wasn’t good enough to enter the Outer Sect, but they hadn’t been dismissed by the Flawless Palace, so they beca Stewards for the servant disciples.

Their duty was to supervise the daily work of the servant disciples. The Stewards were divided into three levels based on their rank: One-Star Steward, Two-Stars Steward, and Three-Stars Steward.

A One-Star Steward managed one hundred servant disciples, a Two-Stars Steward managed one thousand, and a Three-Stars Steward managed ten thousand.

The one in charge of all the servant disciples and all the Stewards was an Elder at the Fifth Layer of the Primordial Ocean Realm. He was a veteran of the Flawless Palace who had been assigned here to manage the servant disciples because he had no hope of another breakthrough and his lifespan was nearing its end.

The one explaining these rules to Lin Yun was a Two-Stars Steward, who happened to be in charge of the section Lin Yun was assigned to. When he led Lin Yun to his living quarters, Lin Yun almost cursed out loud at the first glance.

’Is this fucking place for cultivation?’ It was a large, open room with long, connected sleeping platforms on both sides. A full one hundred people lived in this single room.

’Calm down, calm down. Since I agreed to this, I have to start from the bottom.’ Lin Yun comforted himself, still believing this was a test from Luo Feng.

"Alright, put your things away, then go report to your group’s Steward," the Two-Stars Steward said indifferently before leaving.

He didn’t have anything to put away; all his belongings were in his Space Ring. Following the direction the Two-Stars Steward had pointed, Lin Yun found his group’s One-Star Steward.

The One-Star Steward of Lin Yun’s group was a fat, middle-aged man with a pair of snake-like eyes. From the first glance, the man gave Lin Yun a very uncomfortable feeling.

Moreover, his Cultivation was pitifully weak—only at the Seventh Layer of the Qi Sea Realm, a layer lower than Lin Yun. To kill soone like this, Lin Yun only needed a single punch.

However, holding onto the idea of tempering himself, Lin Yun was still reasonably polite to him. "My na is Lin Yun. I’m a new servant disciple."

"Mm," the man grunted, not even sparing Lin Yun a glance. He gave a faint nod and then spoke coldly.

"You’re new, so I’ll keep the rules simple. Here, you will obey my commands absolutely. Whatever I tell you to do, you do it. Got it?"

Lin Yun disliked the man’s tone, but he held back his anger. There was no need to stoop to their level. "Understood," he replied with a nod.

"Your task for today is this. Before evening, you must wash all these clothes," the Steward said, pointing to a large pile of clothes not far away.

Following his finger, Lin Yun was almost dumbfounded. The clothes were piled up like a small mountain—at least several thousand pieces. And he had to finish washing them before evening? But there was only a single hour left until then.

"If you don’t finish, you don’t eat," the Steward said faintly, then clasped his hands behind his back and swaggered away.

’I can’t believe the treatnt for servant disciples is this bad.’ What kind of person was Lin Yun? Growing up, he had never even washed his own clothes, let alone anyone else’s.

’Fine, I’ll endure it.’ Still naively trusting in Luo Feng, Lin Yun swallowed his anger. ’Experiencing all the different facets of the world is also a form of cultivation, right?’

Squatting there, Lin Yun washed the clothes piece by piece in a large wooden basin in front of him until they were spotless. What made him feel the most helpless was that among the clothes were not only those of male disciples but also those of female disciples.

’This... Do I have to wash the female disciples’ clothes too?’ he thought, looking at the female disciple’s garnt in his hand. Although it was just an outer robe, Lin Yun still felt it was inappropriate.

Setting aside the principle that n and won should maintain a respectful distance, his own personality couldn’t accept this. He, a grown man, had actually been reduced to washing clothes for won.

’I’ll endure it a bit longer...’ After a mont of internal conflict, Lin Yun finally gave in. Since he had already made his decision, he had to see it through. He refused to believe it—he had braved mountains of blades and seas of fire, and even the Green Talent List hadn’t been able to kill him. Could a re servant disciple’s life actually defeat him?

He buried his head in the work, and finally, as evening fell, Lin Yun finished washing all the clothes before him.

"Very good. Not bad. You can go eat now." The Steward slowly sauntered over to Lin Yun, saw that he had completed his task, and spoke indifferently.

Following the other servant disciples to the dining hall, Lin Yun was once again left completely speechless.

Ten people sat at each table, and every table had a large bucket of food. This bucket contained all sorts of things: the at of Tier One Demon Beasts, Earth Level One and Two-Stars Spirit Grass... To put it bluntly, everything was just boiled together in a mix.

The rice was all-you-can-eat, but each table only got this one bucket of food. Once it was gone, it was gone.

Before Lin Yun could even start eating, the other nine servant disciples at his table had already devoured the entire bucket of food like a whirlwind, piling it all into their own bowls.

Staring at the empty bucket, Lin Yun was utterly speechless. He looked at the other nine people; each of their bowls was piled high with food.

These servant disciples were all Martial Artists at the Opening Realm. Martial Artists at this level still required food every day and had high nutritional demands. They weren’t like Lin Yun, a Qi Sea Realm Martial Artist who would be basically fine even after not eating for a few days.

In the servant disciples’ area, Lin Yun was likely the strongest person. Not just in terms of Combat Power, but even in Cultivation, few could compare to him. Besides the two Three-Stars Stewards, who might be on a similar level, everyone else was far behind.

Seeing Lin Yun looking at them, the nine disciples thought he was displeased. One of them imdiately barked, "What are you looking at? Let tell you, you should be grateful you’re getting any food at all."
