Davis noticed the change in the Celestial Transcendent’s expression again.

He imbued his Will into the scythe manifestation, repeatedly striking the forehead in an attempt to reap the other party’s soul, which all ended in failure, but he knew these scythe slashes had some effect since the Celestial Transcendent’s began to perspire out of nowhere.

The other party finally seemed to react to what would be recognized as a threat.

Instantly, he attempted to throw a feint by suddenly sweeping the scythe’s blade at the waist, but the Celestial Transcendent dodged it by a thin margin with a back step and then released an explosive wave.

The chained sickle missed the forehead by barely an inch before Davis was pushed back by the chaotic shockwave.

’Damn it...!’

Davis inwardly cursed.

He had brought the Celestial Transcendent to close bat, but the other party seemed to sense the real threat from his fusion of Enigmatic Heart Laws and scythe intent and threw him off.

It didn’t seem like the Celestial Transcendent would engage in close bat anymore.

However, ing out of the ultra-focused state, Davis suddenly felt drained. He sucked in large mouthfuls of air, and his Grand Chaos Ghost Body flickered as though he was returning to his original state. His chaotic seed rumbled, having trouble processing the overwhelming amount of death energy from the white stone replica.

The Celestial Transcendent’s gaze flickered as he saw this scene. The chaotic energy in his fists receded as he put his hands back, giving off the air of a person who had won the battle.

"Your body finally gave out, huh?"

Davis trembled.

He felt his entire body go cold, his legs nearly going limp. He barely held onto himself as he struck the sickle into the spatial layer, using it as support to stand properly. His chest heaved as he continued to take deep, forceful breaths of whatever heaven and earth energy was left in the desolate air, as he checked his body and saw that the chaotic seed really was starting to crack under pressure.

In his focused state, he had overexerted himself, causing the Grand Chaos Ghost Body to start receding. If he chose not to deactivate it, his Chaotic Genesis Physique was going to be inevitably damaged.

His Will didn’t give out. The white stone replica still had energy to spare. Unexpectedly, it was his body that gave out first.

Taking one final deep breath, he decisively dispersed the Grand Chaos Ghost Body.

"I honestly didn’t expect you to last this long." The Celestial Transcendent shook his head.

"Heh..." Davis chuckled dryly as he tried to stand up properly, but cracks were forming all over his fleshly body.

The forced transition from the spectral body to the fleshly body seemed to have left some damage.

"I could’ve lasted for five or ten more minutes if I hadn’t devoted myself to using my might against you while trying to practice scythe intent, all the while forgetting to balance the flow of death energy to my chaotic body."

"Well, to force me into a sorry state, I guess you could be proud of it at the very least."

The Celestial Transcendent spread his hands and looked over at himself, noticing his clothes full of cuts like he was a beggar on top of his bloodied body.

He then shot a look at Davis with a faint smile.

Lasting this long against a layer limit expert with a body at the Level Four Empyrean Stage was insane even by his standards, and he had thrown attacks that would destroy Primarchs at the layer limit in a few strikes. That elusive ghost body had efficiently reduced the power of his strikes by a large margin, leaving him suffering from these cuts.

He had to admit it had been a long time since he had faced an opponent like the Divine Emperor of Death.

"You are the toughest ghost I have ever faced in my life, even managing to fight with the Solar Reverence’s yang flames."

"Well, thanks for the pliment. Why do I still have my head, though?"

Davis laughed curiously. With the way the Celestial Transcendent came at him after he harmed Venerable Knight Lussandra, he felt like he would be pulverized in an instant, like he would do unto others if they even so much as harmed a strand of hair of his daughter, regardless of the reason.

The Celestial Transcendent pointed around with a swing of his finger, "Seal the ghosts inside the replica. Unlike you, we don’t have anyone who can use death energy to control this replica."

"I refuse."

"It’s over for you." The Celestial Transcendent blinked.

Davis smirked, "Who said it’s over for me?"

"I know you’re the true body. Besides, you can’t even stand properly, and your chaotic body is clearly breaking..."

Davis narrowed his eyes. He didn’t reactivate the white stone’s flow of death energy into his chaos seed. His body was at its limit and clearly needed some rest, even if he wanted to use it again. Instead, he didn’t think of using it again but thought of keeping it for Evelynn as he detected through the white stone replica that there appeared to be some undead appearing in the far distance, towards the-

"Also, what are you doing in the Galaxy Wormhole Battlefield?" The Celestial Transcendent asked, "By any chance, do you just want to be caught and sealed so you can say goodbye to this stressful life?"

"Hahaha..." Davis couldn’t help but laugh weakly.

He then shook his head slowly, "Good question. I wouldn’t have denied that if I were all alone, but since I have love and responsibility to my family, even if I want to die, I’d never let myself die."

"So- what are you doing there?"

"Why don’t you ask my avatar? Instead, why don’t you let me know more about my scythe intent?"

The Celestial Transcendent raised his hand, looking as though he was going to slap Davis, causing the latter to laugh as he took a few steps back, pulling out the sickle from the spatial layer that acted like a wall.

"Look, I get it, you have your ingenious plans." The Celestial Transcendent sighed, "Maybe you could destroy this avatar of mine, but you’re not going to survive a wave of me continuously heading here from all directions. I’ll tell you, two more avatars would make it here within five minutes, another four in thirty minutes, another twelve in a few hours. I’ve sent as many as one hundred and thirty-nine avatars at this level to all the Upper Realms and many celestial bodies. Other than the Lower Realms, I’ve even sent a few more to other galaxies through dimensional pathways. I also didn’t leave the Nether Dimension and a few other dimensions. You’re dreaming if you think you could possibly survive me as you stay here or even run anywhere else. I also collected so much of your blood when it spilled. You couldn’t possibly escape from me."

"..."

Davis’s expression increasingly went unsightly, looking like he had been punched in the guts as he heard the number of avatars, while he wasn’t exactly worried about the blood since he had learned his lesson from the Blood Realm Calamity and cut off his connection to the blood.

Still, was the Celestial Transcendent lying just to scare him? Just how many avatars could he summon at this level alone? He couldn’t tell, but he didn’t think the other party had any reason to lie.

The Celestial Transcendent sure fought him seriously, but Davis could tell that the Celestial Transcendent still didn’t take him seriously like an enemy would, even if he saw him as a threat.

As a ruler whose true body’s prowess was most likely above the Hierarch Stage, it would be laughable if the Celestial Transcendent felt threatened by a mere Empyrean.

"I know. Facing you will be a never-ending nightmare."

Davis sighed as he raised his hand and pointed at the Celestial Transcendent, "But you pushed me too far."

"Don’t bother. I already can counter your ability to use karma and death to inflict unseen damage upon me."

*Bang!~*

Davis’s body exploded into a fountain of blood at the aftermath of using Judgment Laws.

The Celestial Transcendent clenched his teeth, blinking as his forehead frosted with glaze, "I told you. Nether Glaze made of ice and yin is capable of mirroring or even reversing karmic attacks related to curse and death."
