"…?"
Illumina, who was faithfully standing beside him, inclined her head with a doubtful and alert expression when she heard Davis mutter sothing, her eyes quickly scanning for threats.
Instinctively, she could tell her master was much more perceptive to karmic threats that fate had dictated for them.
However, she didn't find any threats, making her gaze at Davis again, her rabbit ears upright with attention.
"Master? Did sothing happen to your soul body?" She asked.
"…"
anwhile, Davis was completely dumbfounded as though his soul was electrocuted.
He totally didn't expect to find the Celestial Transcendent's blood relative in these backwaters, much less an important figure of his younger generation like a favored granddaughter. Rather than a pleasant surprise, it ca off as a horrifying shock since it could also an that the Celestial Transcendent's one of many avatars could be nearby.
Perhaps it was the Celestial Transcendent himself fooling around in disguise. He couldn't tell at all, but considering the Guardian Elder couldn't quite recognize his aura, he doubted it was the Celestial Transcendent in disguise.
'Incredibly ridiculous… I went trying to find what made us appear here at random, and it turns out that I may have so kind of fate with Anastasia Archus… the Archus Family… Do I kidnap her and threaten the Celestial Transcendent? But- it is not possible with the Guardian Elder there. I guess he's at the layer limit, so the only ones who could help would be Qiyra Darkstar and Illumina. Illumina will help no matter what decision I take, but there's no way Qiyra Darkstar will aid in kidnapping the Celestial Transcendent's granddaughter. That's courting death written in big capital letters, emboldened and italicized and made into runes.'
Davis inwardly perspired. Even he didn't find kidnapping the Celestial Transcendent's granddaughter a smart or even a good proposition in the first place.
When hunting him, the Celestial Transcendent just treated it as sothing akin to fulfilling a reluctant mission. If he went ahead and kidnapped Anastasia Archus, then he knew the Celestial Transcendent's wrath would be completely directed at him.
At that point, he couldn't guarantee his family's survival even if he were to die.
After all, targeting family mbers was a great taboo. If he targeted a family mber, then his family mbers were also ga.
How could he not understand this?
However, he couldn't be really bothered about maintaining a diplomatic relationship after having co to the Upper Realms. The Celestial Transcendent intended to hunt him down no matter his behavior unless he was willing to seal himself. Since it was already a war, there was no point restraining himself from gaining an important strategic target that he discovered.
Capturing Anastasia Archus could make or break his family.
It would be a gamble!
'But- there's not much information. My soul body was shattered by a karmic technique by the Guardian Elder, but the soul body completely took the backlash with it through the usage of reincarnation soul's energy while my own soul easily defended against the remnant karmic energy. What was left were the vague mories of Anastasia Archus that was collected by G'haren Bloodrain Impersonation. My Deadbloom… Crimson Redemption Technique- that's what I nad it? Okay, it doesn't seem complete as I had previously envisioned from digesting the insights from the Blood Realm Calamity. I was able to succeed in reviving but was only able to steal a recent day's worth of mories from Anastasia Archus…'
Davis was montarily taken aback before he felt it made sense.
G'haren Bloodrain- his impersonation avatar's final move was a last-ditch effort to save himself. It prioritized reviving through a single bead of unhard blood over collecting mories. This unhard blood itself ca from the crimson-black moonglaive that carried G'haren Bloodrain's blood essence, which he injected into Anastasia Archus.
Usually, it seed like the true G'haren Bloodrain kept this blood essence in the moonglaive to perform blood curses on his targets, but it managed to help his impersonation avatar revive. Only through blood revival could he possibly steal mories, so if the forr failed, the latter would obviously fail, so he didn't prioritize stealing mories.
He didn't even want to look at the mories of others since the more he peeped, the more the chances of him getting corrupted would appear one day.
Furthermore, due to the Blood Tempest Physique, he didn't drain the victim's blood to revive but used the Blood Tempest Physique instead. The blood from the dead body was able to return to him upon reformation, which was miraculous. This was completely different from how he envisioned the technique that he might use after practicing or battling with the Grand Chaos Crimson Body.
'Good thing I didn't drain Anastasia Archus's blood to reform. That would've signaled war- wait… I completely reford from a drop of her blood essence mixing with mine. That's… quite intrusive… even violative, enough to bestow a death sentence on if her grandfather ca to know about it…'
Davis's expression twitched, his lips curling with a shade of evil.
The insights he digested from the Blood Realm Calamity, the possession thods of State of Divine Possession and Karmic Impersonation- everything made him now look like a complete atrocious villain worse than the Accursed Warlock or even the Vile Enchanter.
He was sowhat disgusted by his own powers, yet at the sa ti, was glad he had these options.
Nonetheless, he personally wouldn't leave anyone alive if they were to do the sa thing to his granddaughter or even one of his daughters, so he had no reason not think the Celestial Transcendent wouldn't do the sa.
From Anastasia Archus's mories, even if he had only glimpsed a day's worth of mories, he knew how caring and affectionate the Celestial Transcendent was to his family. That was obvious even before he looked at her mories.
However, he finally understood the importance of Zhao Yan, the son-in-law of the Celestial Transcendent, the fiancée of the second daughter.
'He is certainly worth more than he thinks…'
Davis had kept Zhao Yan in a state of stasis all this ti in his life ring, not giving him a chance to wake up, but it seems like his presence in the True Immortal World still heralded the sleeping beauty, allowing her to wake up from a deep slumber.
Anastasia Archus's recollection of the second aunt, Felicia Archus, helped him know how valuable Zhao Yan was currently.
The Archus Family would do anything to bring Zhao Yan back to make Felicia Archus happy. It was a golden love story he would dig and even support, but this ti around, he intended to make full use of it.
'One hostage… the son-in-law, won't make the Celestial Transcendent quite angry, but the second hostage, eighth granddaughter, will certainly make the Celestial Transcendent wrathful… is it worth kidnapping her…? After kidnapping, where would I go to hide her? There's no doubt the Celestial Transcendent or her father has marked her with their soul, so the chances of hiding her are nearly impossible…'
Davis didn't feel that he could co out the victor in this endeavor.
He felt that even if he ended up as the victor, there would be hell to pay.
But he had already hard her. A bit of investigation over the exposed G'haren Bloodrain's face, the Divine Emperor of Death's ability to control Blood Laws, and investigating Jiayi Crystalveil would completely expose his machinations in this matter.
He also felt it was better to make a move now on Anastasia rather than remain passive.
'Should I take a picture with a kneeling Anastasia Archus in handcuffs and let her go? Would that tell the Celestial Transcendent that he owes him now?'
Even if he kidnapped her, Davis didn't want to go too far. He more or less felt this would end in a complete disaster if he were to capture her and threaten the Celestial Transcendent with her. After all, it wasn't like the Celestial Transcendent wouldn't have faced this kind of incident when he reached the peak billions of years ago.
A hero of that caliber can't be offended. It would be no different than poking a hornet's nest, only to see it was a dragon's nest.
'What should I do!?'
Davis's mind overloaded, not wanting to miss the opportunity, yet the opportunity was too risky, riskier than any undertaking he had taken. Maybe even using Fallen Heaven might be ta in comparison.
"Master…! Master…! Are you fine!?'
Suddenly, he heard Illumina's voice before he was finally shaken out of his reverie. Illumina even shook his shoulder, trying to wake him up.
When Davis ca to himself, he saw Fairy Qiyra Darkstar in front of him. Her cold, aloof eyes squinted over his visage before she said in a calm tone.
"He is fine. Doesn't seem cursed or hard."
"Master, I was so worried since you didn't respond, no matter how many tis I called out…" Illumina's gaze was full of worry. She pursed her lips, "What happened?
Davis looked at Illumina with a moved gaze before he stood up and helped her up. He then turned to look at the person in question.
"Fairy Qiyra, do you want to kidnap the Celestial Transcendent's blood relative with ?"
"Courting death~" Qiyra Darkstar's pupils quivered.
'I know right…' Davis blinked at the instant answer. An instant rejection from soone who survived in the Upper Realms for a few million years.
This endeavor was no different than jumping into the abyss at their current level.
