The Xin Family.
The Xin Family was currently in a state of chaos, all because of the death of the Patriarch’s son, Xin Jianren.
Although they had two Alchemists, Ling Xuan and Chen Ran, in their employ, Patriarch Xin Gong was so preoccupied with plotting against the Jiang Family that he had no mind for his own family’s affairs.
But today, Xin Gong, Ling Xuan, and Chen Ran were gathered to discuss a matter of great importance.
Xin Gong was the first to speak. "Mr. Ling, rest assured. I’ve already taken care of everything regarding your application to the Alchemy Master Guild. I guarantee it will go through smoothly. Just wait for the good news."
So ti ago, Ling Xuan had gone to the Alchemy Master Guild for testing and had passed the certification for a Second-Grade Alchemist.
Once his application was approved, the Alchemy Master Guild would issue him the unique insignia of a Second-Grade Alchemist.
At that point, Ling Xuan would beco a mber of the Alchemy Master Guild, and his status would change dramatically.
Ling Xuan was quite excited as well.
He cupped his hands in a fist-and-palm salute to Xin Gong. "Thank you, Patriarch. I, Ling Xuan, am eternally grateful."
As an Alchemist, Ling Xuan had applied to join the Alchemy Master Guild before, but he had always been rejected.
This ti, however, Xin Gong had pulled many strings, allowing him to pass through each stage of review with exceptional ease. Now, all that was left was for a Senior Steward to confirm it and the President to affix his seal. Then, everything would be perfect.
He grew extrely excited just thinking about how he was about to beco a certified Alchemist of the Alchemy Master Guild.
’Jiang Family,’ he thought, ’now that I, Ling Xuan, have left you, I will surely soar like a dragon into the heavens. Sooner or later, you will all regret this.’
He recalled the humiliation of being driven out of the Jiang Family. It had been an imnse loss of face.
He held a grudge in his heart.
But things were different now. As soon as he succeeded, he would be an apprentice Alchemist of the Alchemy Master Guild.
If he worked hard afterward and beca an Official Alchemist, his status would undergo a world-shaking transformation.
Even the Jiang Family Patriarch, Jiang Han, would have to treat him with the utmost respect.
Xin Gong waved his hand dismissively. "Your entry into the Alchemy Master Guild is an honor for our Xin Family as well."
Chen Ran also offered his congratulations. "Congratulations, Mr. Ling."
"Once you’re a mber of the Alchemy Master Guild, Mr. Ling, please rember to help with my application. Thank you in advance."
Ling Xuan, brimming with confidence, puffed out his chest and declared loudly, "Of course! Leave it to ."
The three of them chatted and laughed, the atmosphere harmonious.
Just then, a family mber rushed in.
"Mr. Ling, the Alchemy Master Guild requests your presence. They said it’s about the review for your application to join."
"They want you to go right now."
The three n were stunned for a mont, then beca overjoyed.
Xin Gong laughed heartily. "Mr. Ling, this is wonderful news! It seems your application has entered the final stage of review."
"You’re not far from success."
"Congratulations, Mr. Ling."
Chen Ran congratulated Ling Xuan once again.
Ling Xuan was ecstatic.
He bid farewell to Xin Gong and Chen Ran and hurried straight to the Alchemy Master Guild. After all, his application to beco one of their Alchemists was his top priority.
"Looks like things are going smoothly this ti,"
Xin Gong said to Chen Ran, clearly referring to Ling Xuan’s situation.
He was confident.
Chen Ran nodded, but then added, "This Ling Xuan... if he joins the Alchemy Master Guild, do you think he’ll leave our Xin Family?"
Xin Gong was silent for a long mont before replying, "It’s fine. The Xin Family has done him a great service. Even if he leaves, he wouldn’t dare to burn his bridges with us."
He had great faith in Ling Xuan.
anwhile, Ling Xuan practically jogged all the way to the Alchemy Master Guild’s main hall in his excitent.
Following a familiar path, he soon arrived outside the hall.
Soone was already waiting for him.
"Mr. Ling, is that you? Follow ."
Ling Xuan quickly nodded and followed the person from the Alchemy Master Guild.
The person said, "You’ve now entered the final stage of the review. You must be on your best behavior."
"Oh, and the one reviewing you next is a new Senior Steward. You must maintain a respectful attitude toward him, understand?"
This person seed to be an inside contact that the Xin Family had paid off. They had given him benefits, and in return, he made things convenient for them.
Ling Xuan nodded eagerly.
"Yes, I understand."
He clenched his fists tightly, his heart pounding with excitent. His fingers trembled at the thought of his impending success.
’I will definitely be very respectful to that Senior Steward,’ he repeatedly told himself.
’I wouldn’t hesitate even if I have to call him ’Grandpa’.’
The person led Ling Xuan to a large hall.
He pointed inside. "Go on in by yourself. Second floor, turn left, second door."
With that, the person left imdiately.
Ling Xuan still felt a bit uneasy.
He was very nervous.
He stood outside the hall for a good while, trying to compose himself. Only when he felt a bit calr did he lift his foot and step inside.
He arrived at the second door on the left, just as the person who had guided him had said.
The door happened to be open, and looking in, Ling Xuan saw a person standing by a crystal glass window with their hands behind their back, gazing outside.
He guessed that this must be the Senior Steward who was supposed to review him.
Ling Xuan knocked on the doorfra.
The person with their back to him said faintly, "Co in."
Delighted, Ling Xuan hurried inside.
He stopped a short distance from the figure and said respectfully, "Ling Xuan greets you, my lord."
He then waited for the person to respond.
Sure enough, after Ling Xuan spoke, the person turned around.
Ling Xuan was still a bit nervous.
He looked at the person respectfully.
One look, and Ling Xuan was nearly stunned speechless.
"It’s you? Jiang Chen, you piece of trash?"
Ling Xuan couldn’t believe it. The person who had turned around was actually that good-for-nothing from the Jiang Family, Jiang Chen.
He froze on the spot, utterly dumbfounded.
He simply couldn’t believe who he was seeing.
Wait.
Suddenly, a thought struck him.
’Jiang Chen being here is a surprise.’
As for why Jiang Chen was here, Ling Xuan imdiately figured it out. ’He must be here to apply to the Alchemy Master Guild, too.’
He was just like him, not the so-called Senior Steward.
At this thought, Ling Xuan relaxed, his nervousness dissipating.
"What, are you surprised to see ?"
Jiang Chen looked at Ling Xuan indifferently. It really was the sa Ling Xuan who had left their Jiang Family. He almost wanted to laugh.
Seeing that it was Jiang Chen, Ling Xuan’s expression instantly darkened.
He had been driven out of the Jiang Family by Jiang Chen. Although he had wanted to leave himself at the ti, it was Jiang Chen who had ultimately chased him away.
He sneered. "What are you doing here?"
His tone implied that Jiang Chen had no right to be here.
Jiang Chen chuckled and retorted, "And why can’t I be here?"
Ling Xuan’s face was extrely grim. He really didn’t want to see Jiang Chen.
However, seeing Jiang Chen standing there with his hands behind his back, looking sowhat arrogant,
he certainly wasn’t going to show any weakness in front of him.
He also clasped his hands behind his back.
He gave a scornful smile. "Jiang Chen, I, Ling Xuan, will never forget how you humiliated ."
"Hmph!"
"I know what you’re doing here. You must be trying to apply to the Alchemy Master Guild and are here for your review today, right?"
"Let tell you, stop dreaming. Today, I’m the only one who will successfully pass the review."
"Besides, that Lord Steward and I are on very good terms!"
