The doctor’s words echoed in his ears.
’So? She’s really pregnant? And I’m really going to be a father!’
At that mont, his feelings were a tangled ss—he was happy, yet overco with remorse, because just a short while ago, he had almost killed their child with his own hands.
He leaned down, placing a soft kiss on her forehead. "Mrs. Grayson," he said slowly, his voice hoarse, "I’m sorry..."

Mika Sumrs didn’t wake up until noon the next day.
Looking at the unfamiliar room around her, she sat up in fear.
’Where am I? How did I get here? Wasn’t I at the hotel with Tristan Grayson?’
"You’re awake..." a low, pleasant male voice said.
Hearing the voice, she frowned and turned around in confusion. The mont she saw him, she sat up straight and exclaid in surprise, "Avery? What are you doing here?"
"I’m surprised you still rember ," Aiden Avery said, walking toward her with a wry smile.
"Avery, why are you here?" ’And why am I here, for that matter?’
"Tristan sent ." When Aiden Avery had arrived that morning and seen Mika Sumrs, he’d been even more shocked than she was now.
The woman he’d thought of and searched for for three years had now appeared before him as his best friend’s wife, pregnant with Tristan’s child.
Hearing Tristan’s na, Mika Sumrs tensed up. "Where is he, then?"
"Isn’t it Grayson’s funeral today? Tristan went back for it. He’ll probably co over tonight to be with you."
"Oh, that’s right. Grandma’s funeral is today. How could I have forgotten sothing so important? And I slept this late," Mika Sumrs said, frustrated with herself as she moved to throw back the covers and get out of bed.
Seeing her move, Aiden Avery reached out to stop her. "You’re too weak to get out of bed right now. If you need anything, just tell and I’ll do it for you."
"Avery, I want to go to the Grayson residence..." After a night of sleep, her whole body ached. But, thinking of the funeral, she knew that as the granddaughter-in-law, she absolutely had to be there.
"Forget about going to the Graysons’. You just need to take care of yourself."
"I’m fine. What could be wrong with ...?" Mika Sumrs thought Avery was being strange. Even though her body was sore from what Tristan Grayson had put her through, that shouldn’t stop her from going to the Grayson estate.
Aiden Avery tucked the blanket back around her and said patiently, "You might be fine, but your baby isn’t. Did you know you almost had a miscarriage last night? For now, you need to lie still, rest up, and wait for the Graysons to co and take you ho."
Aiden Avery’s words left Mika Sumrs completely stunned.
’Sothing’s wrong with my baby? I almost miscarried?’ How could she not be utterly shocked?
After a long mont, her voice trembled as she asked uncertainly, "Avery... I’m pregnant?"
"Mm-hmm." Aiden Avery smiled and nodded.
Rembering what she’d felt last night... she was terrified. "How’s the baby? Is the baby okay?"
"Don’t worry, the baby’s fine. You just need to rest and recover for a while."
Hearing Aiden Avery’s reassurance, she finally managed a relieved smile. ’As long as the baby is okay, that’s all that matters. Otherwise, I could never forgive myself.’
’This is my baby with Tristan. I have to bring this child into the world safely.’
But when she rembered how cruel Tristan Grayson had been the night before, she couldn’t help but shudder. "Does... Tristan know?" ’A man like Tristan, who hates so much... would he let keep the baby?’
