The next day, two major events occurred in Tridell, and both were related to the Miller Family.
The first was that Young Master Miller’s whereabouts were unknown, and the Miller Family had been ruined overnight. The second was the steamy scandal involving Miss Miller and an adult film director, a Mr. Zhang, which had made the front-page headlines.
Mika Sumrs sat on the sofa, watching the man and woman in the graphic scene on the television, completely stunned...
’I’ve seen that woman before. I never thought she was that kind of person...’
Just then, Jasmine Warren ca out of the bathroom. She glanced at the screen and chuckled teasingly, "In this day and age, the richer people are, the ssier their private lives. I hear she’s supposed to be the daughter of so prestigious family."
Hearing Jasmine’s words, she quickly changed the channel. She tried to keep her voice level. "Yeah, she is." ’The world of the rich really isn’t a place people like us should ever set foot in...’
Jasmine smiled, buttoning her shirt as she spoke to Mika. "Mika, I’m heading to work now. Don’t go wandering off, okay? Wait for to get ho, and then I’ll go with you to look at apartnts."
"Okay, I will," Mika Sumrs replied with a smile and a nod.
"Don’t let your mind run wild. Whatever happens, just wait for to get back before you do anything, okay?"
"I know, I know. Don’t worry, just go to work."
"Okay, I’m off then." ’How can I not be worried?’ she thought. The mory of how Mika had looked, all alone in her room last night, was terrifying...
The mont Jasmine left, the smile vanished from Mika’s face. She turned off the television, rose, and walked out onto the balcony. Gazing down at the bustling crowd below, her expression was filled with loneliness and sorrow...
’Everyone else’s life is so rich and colorful. But for all these years, my entire world has revolved around Tristan Grayson. I don’t have my own circle of friends; I’m completely out of touch with the world. Now that I’ve left him, I don’t even know what to do. I have no idea how I’m supposed to go on living...’
’Right now, apart from this child, I have nothing. Absolutely nothing...’
After a long while, once Mika had cald down, she turned away from the balcony. She went back to her room, grabbed her purse, and scribbled a short note for Jasmine before leaving.
’Maybe I should have my own life, live the way I want to. Jasmine was right. For all these years, I haven’t really been living a life of my own...’
Mika first went to the bank to cash the check for one hundred million, then deposited the money into several different accounts before leaving.
Mika had just finished cashing the check and depositing the money when Tristan Grayson received a report. So much had happened the previous night that he hadn’t had ti to think about her.
Now, hearing Henry Archer report that the woman had cashed the check, he angrily swept all the docunts off his desk. "Have soone keep an eye on her for the next few days!" ’It’s not that I care about the money,’ he thought, ’I’m just worried she really has so other man.’
’My money—Tristan Grayson’s money—is not for her to support so other man!’
"Yes, Boss!"
He raised a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose. "What’s the status of the hospital investigation?"
Henry Archer subtly took a step back and lowered his voice. "According to the surveillance footage, Ms. Sumrs did go to that hospital. She was in an operating room for over half an hour." The implication was clear: Ms. Sumrs really had undergone a procedure; it wasn’t a bluff.
But even if he had ten tis the courage, Henry Archer wouldn’t have dared to state it so bluntly.
Tristan Grayson shot to his feet, kicking his chair over. "Bastard!" he roared. "Who perford the surgery? I’ll kill him!"
Wiping away cold sweat, Henry Archer continued to back away, trying to placate him. "Boss, calm down! Maybe... maybe it’s not that serious..."
"Fuck! Henry Archer, easy for you to say, isn’t it?" ’Of course he’d say it’s not that serious,’ Tristan fud. ’It wasn’t *his* child.’
"No, Boss! The head of gynecology said that Ms. Sumrs never completed the official paperwork, so they can’t be sure if it really... really happened..." This was the only excuse Henry could co up with. He knew perfectly well the departnt head was just saying that to avoid responsibility, but he was also terrified his boss would kill him in a fit of rage.
