"Heh..." Tristan Grayson suddenly retracted his vicious gaze, took a self-mocking step back, and started to laugh.
’An irrelevant ex-husband? Irrelevant?’
She was speechless. She had thought Tristan Grayson would explode in anger, that he would demand payback for the slap. She never expected him to just stand there, smiling so grimly that it made Mika Sumrs’s heart race with unease.
But she didn’t have the ntal energy to wonder why Tristan Grayson wasn’t angry. All she could do was quickly compose herself, turn, and flee the scene without a backward glance.
Watching the woman’s retreating figure, a part of Tristan Grayson’s heart ached in response.
’This woman... it seems she truly hates to the bone...’
For so reason, this realization made him feel weary to his very soul...
He stood there for a long, long ti before he finally ca to his senses. He took out his phone and called Henry Archer.
"Boss!" Henry Archer’s voice ca through the mont the call connected.
Tristan Grayson’s gaze was still fixed on the hospital entrance, his tone cool. "The matter in Sothwick—don’t have Ian Shaw handle it anymore. Book a flight for tonight. I’ll go myself."
On one hand, the issue with the child made him feel a desperate need for so peace and quiet. On the other hand, he truly couldn’t bring himself to marry Maggie Monroe.
Even though he had already made things clear with Maggie Monroe, and even though marrying her was purely a matter of responsibility, he still couldn’t do it...
’Maybe, just as that woman said, I really am a heartless bastard...’
At this thought, the corner of Tristan Grayson’s mouth curled into another mocking smile.
"Boss, the Sothwick project will take at least six months to complete. If you leave now, what will happen to our company?" He rembered that there was soone in the company right now, eyeing the president’s position like a hawk.
"With Aiden Avery and Ian Shaw here, nothing will go wrong. Also, go and make the arrangents now. Have Cassian Jennings start his internship at the company tomorrow."
"Yes, Boss!"
"While I’m gone, arrange for a few caregivers to look after Maggie Monroe."
"Yes, Boss!"
After hanging up, Tristan Grayson finally strode through the lobby and toward the ergency room at the end of the corridor.
By this ti, Maggie Monroe had already been moved out of the ergency room and back to her original ward. But he didn’t go find her. Instead, he turned, walked back to a chair in the hallway, and sat down.
He wearily cupped his chin in his hands. His eyes were bloodshot, and his mind was consud by that woman’s words.
’Tristan Grayson, don’t you forget, you’re nothing to now but an irrelevant ex-husband!’

He was now starting to take that woman’s words so much to heart.
A single sentence from her could stir up so many complex emotions in him.
’Tristan Grayson, Tristan Grayson, am I actually starting to care about that woman? Am I actually starting to fall for her? ...’
This realization sent a sudden chill of fear through him...
