Hearing Mika’s words, Tristan Grayson began to tremble. "Mika!" he cried out, his voice fraught with fear. "Don’t do anything stupid! Listen to , put the gun down."
Tristan’s words snapped Gia Miller back to reality. She steadied herself and said in a cold, sinister voice, "Mika Sumrs, I promise you, if you die, I’ll let Tristan Grayson go."
Jared Miller said angrily, "Gia, are you insane?" ’If Tristan Grayson walks out of here, will any of us survive?’
"Bro, I’m calling the shots here. I’ve changed my mind. I don’t want Tristan Grayson to die. I want *her* to die. That woman and the child in her womb... their deaths will be the best punishnt for Tristan!" ’She couldn’t be mistaken. He must have fallen for Mika Sumrs. Why else would he be this frantic? The Tristan she knew had never shown this side of himself for any woman except Maggie Monroe.’
Mika smiled and nodded at Gia. "I hope you keep your word!"
The mont she finished speaking, Mika closed her eyes, and her fingers went limp...
Two loud shots rang out—BANG! BANG! The force of the impact knocked her back a step. Her vision went black, and she collapsed.
"MIKA!!!" The mont Mika closed her eyes, Tristan was by her side. He blocked the bullet ant for her head with his hand, but he couldn’t stop the one fired by Jared Miller.
He watched her get shot and collapse right in front of him. He watched a crimson stain rapidly spread across her chest...
Devastated, he knelt and clutched her tightly. His hand had gone numb with pain and was losing all sensation, yet he still held her with all his might. "Mika... Mika..."
The woman didn’t answer. She didn’t wake up. She just lay limp in his arms.
He was terrified, at a complete loss. "Open your eyes... look at ... Please don’t scare like this... Mika..." ’Even if it’s not for , please... for the baby... you have to hold on. You have to live!’
By this ti, Ian Shaw and his n had arrived, and the sounds of fighting erupted around them.
But Tristan was deaf and blind to it all. He just kept clutching the woman in his arms, calling for her to wake up.
’He had finally made his decision, finally understood his true feelings. So why... why did it have to end like this...?’
"Mika... Wake up... Open your eyes and look at ..."
By then, Ian Shaw had subdued Jared Miller and his n. He walked over, and seeing the devastated state Tristan was in, he frowned and reached to take Mika from his arms. With bloodshot eyes, Tristan looked up and roared, "What do you think you’re doing!"
"Tristan Grayson, snap the fuck out of it! If we don’t get her to a hospital, she’s going to die for real!"
"Right. The hospital." Tristan scrambled to his feet, still holding her. But before he could take a single step, his legs gave out, and he almost dropped Mika.
Ian Shaw rushed forward to catch Mika’s body. Seeing Tristan’s still-bleeding hand, he frowned deeply. "Your hand is injured? I’ll take her."
"Don’t you touch her! I’ll do it!" ’She was his woman. From this mont on, he would never let her go again... Never.’
"Tristan..."
At that, Tristan reined in all his emotions, his usual calm returning. "Ian, notify Aiden Avery! Imdiately! Tell him to prepare for surgery!"
Watching Tristan force his weakened body to carry the woman away, Ian Shaw didn’t dare delay and quickly made the call.
