Ian Shaw’s words slowly cald Eleanor Bishop. She looked up at the man sitting in the car. "Jason Lockwood, what the hell do you want!"

Jason Lockwood gestured with a look for his subordinate to open the car window. His cold eyes landed on Eleanor Bishop as he said coolly, "The old master wishes to see his granddaughter."

"Even if he wants to see his granddaughter, did you have to resort to this?"

"If I hadn’t, you’d probably be on a plane by now," Jason Lockwood said dismissively, letting out a cold laugh.

"Jason Lockwood, give my child."

Jason Lockwood gave a sinister sneer, glanced down at his watch, and said mockingly, "By now, Archie Sumrs should have already arrived at the Lockwood estate. So, Eleanor Bishop, are you coming with , or are you going to watch leave with your daughter?"

"—" Jason Lockwood’s words left Eleanor Bishop stunned. ’So they took Archie to the Lockwood estate...’

"Eleanor, what’s going on? Who are these people?" Mika Sumrs asked, anxiously gripping Eleanor Bishop’s arm as she saw the awful expression on her face.

"Mika, don’t ask any questions. Rest assured, your brother and I will be fine. You should go back now." After speaking, Eleanor Bishop removed Mika’s hand from her arm and looked at Jason Lockwood. "I’ll go with you."

A cold, calculating glint flashed in Jason Lockwood’s eyes. He smiled and nodded.

Only after watching Eleanor get in the car and drive away did Mika snap back to her senses. She was frantic, not knowing what to do. Her mind was a complete ss.

’That man’s words left feeling uneasy, but more than that, they sparked so many questions. The old master wants to see his granddaughter? Could they be talking about Rory? But how could that be? Is it possible that Rory isn’t my brother’s biological daughter?!’

Ian Shaw retracted his gaze, his brow furrowed in thought. He looked at the woman still standing there in a daze. "Hey, what are you spacing out for? I’ll give you a ride back."

"Ah! Oh! Um... right, I forgot to ask your na. Thank you so much for today. You don’t et many good people like you anymore." She rembered how she had desperately shouted for soone, anyone, to stop those two n at the airport, but not a single person had been willing to help.

Hearing the woman’s string of exclamations—"Ah! Oh! Um!"—plus the label "good person," Ian Shaw felt the corner of his mouth twitch. He fought to keep from laughing out loud, nodded, and said in a low voice, "My na is Ian Shaw. But it was nothing, really. No big deal." ’If Tristan hadn’t asked to help, I really wouldn’t have. After all, I’m not a good person, and never have been.’

"Regardless, I still have to thank you. So... could I trouble you to take back to the airport?" Mika trailed off, her voice losing its confidence.

"Of course. I’m heading back to the airport anyway."

"Thank you..."

"Don’t ntion it. It’s what I ought to do."

"Huh?" ’What he ought to do? But we just t, didn’t we?’

Seeing Mika’s surprised expression, Ian Shaw looked away, a bit flustered. He gave an awkward laugh and said, "Heh, it’s nothing. I just ant that it’s on my way."

"Oh..."

Once in the car, Mika leaned back against the seat and turned to watch the scenery pass by outside.

Ian Shaw glanced at her before starting the car and making a U-turn. He asked, feigning casualness while actually probing for information for soone else, "So you’re heading to the airport. Were you planning on traveling sowhere?"

"We were planning to go abroad, but now, with all this..."

Ian Shaw nodded thoughtfully. "That woman from before, was that your sister-in-law?"

"Yeah."

"—" Ian Shaw didn’t press further. Instead, a sly, knowing smile played on his lips.

’What I was investigating before was already interesting enough,’ he thought. ’But it looks like things are about to get even more interesting. I just wonder how Tristan will react when he finds out...’
