Silas Kent stared at her coldly. "I want a reasonable explanation!"
"I had to be with my son. Is that reasonable enough for you?" Mika Sumrs sneered.
"A detailed explanation."
’Be with her son? Was that supposed to be an explanation? He’d waited all night, and she never ca back. That was her explanation?’
’Her phone was off—off all night. Was that supposed to be a reasonable explanation?’
The one text ssage she sent him might as well have not been sent at all. God only knows how he’d managed to get through the night.
He’d arrived at the office before dawn to wait for her.
He was waiting for her explanation, and this was all she gave him? One sentence to brush him off?
"There is no detailed explanation. That’s it. If you think it’s reasonable, then it’s reasonable. If you don’t, then it isn’t," Mika Sumrs said icily before turning, walking over to the nearby sofa, and sitting down.
Watching her, Silas Kent slamd a palm on the table. "Mika Sumrs, is there going to co a day when you use your son as an excuse to tell you want to be with him!"
"Silas Kent, it’s impossible between him and . Stop making wild guesses."
"Impossible? So impossible you spent the night together?"
’A man and a woman, alone in a room... What could have happened?’
Hearing Silas Kent’s increasingly outrageous words, Mika stood up in anger. She walked to the desk, grabbed her bag, and turned to leave.
Seeing this, Silas got up, strode over, and blocked her path. "Where are you going?"
"Silas Kent, I already told you, it’s impossible between and Tristan Grayson, and nothing happened. Believe it or not."
With that, Mika forcefully shook off Silas Kent’s hand.
Silas grabbed her from behind, wrapping his arms tightly around her waist. "I was wrong. I shouldn’t have doubted you. You can’t leave!"
"Silas Kent, let go." Suddenly, Mika felt exhausted, and her voice softened.
"No. Mika, I’ve thought about it. Let’s go back to Austerra, okay? Let’s not co back to Tridell."
Mika knew perfectly well how strong-willed this man was, how much he cared about his pride.
For him to swallow his pride and beg her like this... Her heart wavered, just a little. She was touched, and her eyes grew moist.
She looked down, prying his hands from her waist one by one. Turning to face him, her tone was once again detached. "Silas, I’m sorry."
"Mika, why can’t it be ?" Silas Kent’s heart clenched in excruciating pain.
’If only... he wished he had never t this woman more than two years ago, wished he’d never saved her...’
’If he hadn’t, he wouldn’t be in so much pain right now...’
Mika laughed mockingly. "It could be anyone, but it can’t be you. I don’t want to ruin you."
"Why? How would being with ruin you? Mika, please say yes. I’ll really, truly spend the rest of my life loving you, cherishing you, and doting on you."
His sweet words were still as captivating as ever. She believed that any other woman would be unable to refuse.
But she was different. Silas Kent had saved her life. Everything she had was a gift from him.
And for that very reason, she couldn’t ruin Silas Kent.
’He deserves a better woman, not a piece of ’secondhand goods’ like her who doesn’t even love him...’
"Silas Kent, I’m not good at all. I’m not right for you. Don’t waste any more ti on ."
Silas Kent took a self-deprecating step back and sneered, "Mika Sumrs, if you won’t even give a chance, how can you know you’re not right for ? Or is it that, from beginning to end, you’ve never been able to forget Tristan Grayson?"
