As he thought about all this, Leo Joyce gripped the steering wheel tightly and pressed harder on the gas.
’Impossible. How could I ever forget my darling girl? It doesn’t matter whether or not I end up with Tiana.’
’Her place in my heart is, and always will be, the most important. She could never be replaced!’
Leo Joyce sped along without a break until he exited the highway, where he finally started to slow down.
He drove straight to Siren’s Night.
The mont he stepped through the entrance, an attendant rushed over. "Young Master Joyce, you’re finally back."
"Did sothing happen?" Leo Joyce asked, his brow furrowed and his voice cold.
"Young Master Joyce, it’s serious. You need to get up to the fifth floor, quickly."
Leo Joyce nodded and took the elevator straight to the fifth floor.
When he arrived on the fifth floor, his gaze swept across the area. It was as lively as always; nothing seed out of place.
Just then, the door to his usual VIP room opened from within, and a woman in sunglasses stepped out.
The woman took off her sunglasses, revealing the beautiful face he had longed for day and night for over two years.
A smile touched his lips, and he took an excited step toward her.
But just then, Tiana stepped out of the room. She looked up at him, her expression uneasy.
He felt his world collapse. His hands, shoved in his pockets, clenched into tight fists, and his heart gave a violent tremor.
’In what capacity could I possibly face my darling girl now?’
Suddenly, he was afraid.
Seeing Leo Joyce just standing there in a daze, Alia Avery pouted. "Leo Joyce," she said coolly, "you’re really heartless. And here I ca to see you the mont I got back to Tridell!"
But despite her annoyance, she still walked elegantly over to Leo Joyce and gave him a big hug.
When Leo Joyce didn’t hug her back with the excitent she’d expected, Alia Avery grew even more annoyed. She pushed him away and said angrily, "Hey, Leo Joyce, you idiot! Are you scared stiff or sothing?"
Leo Joyce shook his head, his eyes fixed on Alia Avery.
After a long mont, he finally rasped, "Are you real, or a ghost?" Even though he knew it was his darling girl, he still asked the foolish question.
Alia Avery frowned, then raised her hand and smacked Leo Joyce on the head. "A ghost! Of course I’m a ghost!"
Leo Joyce’s expression suddenly turned grim. He grabbed Alia Avery’s shoulders and demanded, "If you’re real, then why are you only coming back now?! Alia Avery, do you have any idea how much I’ve missed you? Do you know I really thought you were dead?!"
Alia Avery’s eyes welled with tears, and her voice choked. "I know. Of course I know... Leo, you’re hurting . Let go."
Watching this scene from a short distance away, Tiana Grayson discreetly turned around and wiped away her tears.
’Alia’s back. I should be happy. I should be happy...’
Leo Joyce wearily let go of Alia Avery. He looked up toward the doorway, at the young woman with her back to them, a complicated look in his eyes. He took Alia’s hand and walked toward Tiana.
Before Alia Avery could wipe away her tears, Leo Joyce had already led her over to Tiana. He let go of Alia’s hand, composed himself, and said in a low voice, "Tiana."
"Hm?" Tiana flinched, humming softly in response. She turned around to face Leo Joyce and Alia Avery.
’Is this it? Is he going to distance himself from now?’
A sharp pain clenched at Tiana’s heart. But that woman was Alia—her best friend. And since it was Alia, she would do nothing but wish them happiness.
’It was my fault from the start. I was the one who couldn’t control my own heart, who let myself fall for Leo Joyce.’
