Mika Sumrs’s eyes widened in shock as she read the text ssage.
’Grandma isn’t going to make it through the night?’
Even if her agreent with Tristan Grayson was void, she still had to see his grandmother one last ti.
It was the decent thing to do.
"Stop the car! Stop! I need to get out!" she yelled in a panic at Louise Jordan.
Louise Jordan quickly pulled the car over to the side of the road. She looked back, her expression blank. "What is it, Miss Sumrs?"
"You’re Louise Jordan, right? Tell Tristan sothing’s co up, and I can’t go with him to look for a house today." She rushed the words out, then opened the car door to leave.
Seeing this, Louise Jordan’s expression darkened. She quickly got out of the car as well, hurrying to block Mika Sumrs’s path. "Wait, Miss Sumrs. You can’t leave!"
"I don’t have ti, I’m in a real hurry." She knew better than anyone how important his grandmother was to Tristan Grayson, and because of that, she was truly worried about Tristan.
Even though she knew her presence would be of little help, she still wanted to be by Tristan’s side in his mont of need, even if she couldn’t do anything.
"Miss Sumrs, without an order from my boss, I can’t..." Before she could finish, the ringing of the phone in her pocket cut her off.
RING... RING... With a grim expression, Louise Jordan kept a firm grip on Mika Sumrs’s arm with one hand while pulling out her phone with the other. "Hello, Boss."
"If she wants to leave, let her. Just keep an eye on her."
"Yes, Boss." After hanging up, Louise Jordan released Mika Sumrs’s arm and gave her an apologetic nod. "Miss Sumrs, you may go."
"Oh..." She was a bit taken aback by Louise Jordan’s sudden change in attitude.
But she didn’t have ti to dwell on it. She rushed to the side of the road and started hailing a taxi.
Louise Jordan watched with a blank expression as Miss Sumrs got into a taxi and drove away. Only then did she hurry back to her own car and follow it.
Once in the car, Mika Sumrs called Tristan Grayson. "Hello?"
"Where are you?" Tristan Grayson asked, getting straight to the point.
Mika Sumrs glanced around. "About two hundred ters south of the Vance Hotel."p>
"Okay. I’ll be there in ten minutes."
"Wait... I..." BEEP... BEEP... Before she could finish, Tristan Grayson had already hung up.
She had no choice but to tell the driver, "Please stop. I’ll get out here."
"Alright."
After getting out, she stood by the side of the road, gripping her phone tightly as she waited for Tristan Grayson.
Those ten minutes were torture.
She didn’t know how she was going to face Tristan Grayson, or how she could possibly explain what had happened that morning.
And she had no idea if Tristan Grayson would really make her pay him the two hundred million.
HONK... HONK... The sound of a car horn snapped her out of her thoughts.
Her head snapped up, and she imdiately spotted Tristan Grayson.
Tristan Grayson was wearing a black trench coat, a black baseball cap, and black sunglasses. The getup was so complete it was almost impossible to make out his features.
But even though Tristan Grayson was so thoroughly disguised, she still recognized him instantly.
"What are you spacing out for? Get in!" Seeing her hesitate, Tristan Grayson’s face hardened with anger. He honked the horn a few more tis and barked the command.
"Oh," she mumbled, ekly pulling open the passenger-side door and getting in.
Tristan Grayson shot her a cold glance, his voice laced with scorn. "I’ll give you this, you have a conscience. You didn’t run. Otherwise, the consequences would have been more than you could bear."
"I never planned on running," Mika Sumrs retorted hastily.
"You’d better an that."
