Seeing Leo Joyce down his drink so readily, Alia Avery didn’t hesitate, tilting her head back and drinking as well.
Once he finished the bottle, Leo Joyce lifted his hand and violently smashed it on the ground.
Alia Avery faltered mid-drink, but only for a second. She quickly resud chugging the alcohol down.
When she finished, she tossed the bottle aside onto the floor. Her lips curled into a desolate smile. "So, spit it out. You’re this furious today... are you planning on ending our friendship?"
"Alia Avery! I brought you here today to get the old Alia Avery back!"
"The old Alia Avery is dead!" Alia Avery clenched her fists, her voice sharp as she cut Leo Joyce off.
Leo Joyce let out a derisive laugh. "Heh, dead? If she were really dead, that would be for the best." ’If she were truly dead, I wouldn’t have to feel this miserable...’
"But she *is* dead, and we can’t go back to the past." ’When had the Leo Joyce of the past ever treated her like this?’
Leo Joyce bent over and picked up a deck of cards from the table. He sneered, his voice cold. "Alia Avery, let’s make a bet."
"What do you want to bet!" Alia Avery reached out, snatched the deck from his hand, and sneered.
"We’ll bet on Cassian Jennings’s heart!"
"—" ’His heart?’
Seeing the awful look on Alia Avery’s face, Leo Joyce continued coldly, "Let’s bet on whether he has feelings for you or not. Let’s bet on whether Cassian Jennings is a man with a heart at all!" ’If I don’t make her see the truth, she’ll probably spend the rest of her life entangled with Cassian Jennings.’
’She knows it’s a lost cause, yet she still throws herself at him without a second thought...’

At his words, Alia Avery was shaken. Her face darkened as she looked up at Leo Joyce and said sharply, "I’m not interested." With that, she turned to leave.
Seeing this, Leo Joyce grabbed her arm tightly. "Alia Avery, you have to make this bet. If you don’t bet with , I won’t let him off the hook, either."
"Leo Joyce, are you threatening ?" Alia Avery should have been angry, but she suddenly found it all rather absurd.
"That’s right. You can call it a threat if you want. Alia Avery, I’m going to make you see exactly what kind of person Cassian Jennings is!"
’When it ca to Cassian Jennings, she knew him better than anyone here. So how could she dare to take that bet...’
’If she held even the smallest space in Cassian Jennings’s heart, how could she have ended up in this predicant...’
Leo Joyce narrowed his eyes and spoke again, "Is it that you don’t dare to bet with ?"
Alia Avery gave a bitter smile, her expression desolate and lonely. "Leo Joyce, why do all of you have to push like this? I’ve already said it, I’ll leave after a little while."
"And how long is ’a little while’? Does he even know what you’re doing now? Alia Avery, can you fucking snap out of it for once?!"
"I don’t need him to know. I can’t escape my responsibility for what’s beco of Jennings." Faced with Leo Joyce’s furious shouts, Alia Avery simply gave a derisive smile and spoke in a cold voice.
Furious, Leo Joyce spun around, grabbed a bottle of liquor from the table, opened it, and began to chug it down. After he’d finished the bottle, he said mockingly, "Alia Avery, I’m going to make you see whether he is truly worth all this!"
The mont he finished speaking, Leo Joyce raised his hand. The won sitting on the sofa all rose and gathered by his side...
